Great strategy game

This is a fun strategy card game.

The game is mechanically sound and works like it should with no bugs. However, I'm suspcious about the AI's capabilities. I've seen it discard cards for a whopping 3 coins when playing the card (for free, mind you) would have given it twice much. On other occasions, it seems to have a psychic-like ability to tell which face down cards are green and red so it can tactically deny me a science or military victory. So a mixed bag overall, leaning to the lower side due to the AI's dubiousness.

This game is a very nice app version of the board game. The AI is challenging. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is there is an annoying timer that I cannot see a way to turn off during your turn and if you don't play right away during your turn in a friend online game, the game sometimes will just end on one person's screen with a purple "victory" button and you must close the game to start again. please add an option to turn off / change the time out.

Doesn’t work

This game crashed 14 times within the 10 minutes of us trying to play. Finally got paired up and it couldn’t even make it through the first age without crashing again and again. So disappointing! I want my money back or for this app to actually do what they promised!

Ok for local - terrible online

Great Adaption. Fits well on small screens, perfect for local play except had issues with the game freezing randomly. A few problems with online: If you ever leave the app the current game you are in will freeze and you will be unable to join back in. If you play online you have to stay in the game the whole time or you automatically lose - there is no turn-based notification system as is the case with chess.com. The system for finding an opponent is terrible because it’s impossible to know how many people are playing at the moment or if you will get a match any time soon. Because of these two problems, nobody ever plays and I so far have never found a single opponent online. There isn’t even a system for notifying friends that you want to play with, you just have to hope that they are also online and waiting for someone at that given moment. There is only one AI difficulty - which gets boring because it has the same strategy every time. Finally one thing that I at really necessary but would be fun is some kind of international ranking system that everyone could see. Additionally tournaments hosted by the game platform would be welcome. I think there are many improvements needed for this to be worth any money at all, the most important being a system where you can take a turn, leave, and then get notified when your opponent moves, with different time options like chess.com.

Absolutely broken

This was one of our favorite games, but it’s clear the developer is happy letting it die. Don’t waste your money. The online multiplayer worked great for years, then only the local (same WiFi network) matches would work. Now those don’t even work. (Even after a “maintenance update” as of November 2025.)

Really perfect for pass and play

My wife and I have been playing 7 wonders duel on mobile for close to 5 years now and with it being back up on the App Store I wanted to show it some love. The sheer number of games we’ve played waiting for dinner and drinks at a restaurant is staggering. If you’re both quick (we are) a game can be finished in 10-15 minutes. I honestly have been holding off on upgrading my phone because I didn’t want to lose access to this game. But now that I see it’s back up I’m upgrading asap to ensure that I can redownload it before it gets taken down again hahaha Anyway good on the developers I think yall have made a great product.

This game has been played many, many times with my friends with the board game version so I had to download this mobile version hoping for the perfect on-the-go version of the game. Although I'm impressed by the gameplay visuals, clarity, and simple functionality of PVP, the AI needs an absolute rework. I consider myself very good at the game when my heads not full of drink and I've only beaten the AI once out of many tries. Overall very happy being able to play without the whole setup.

AI is on Hard always

The AI/computer player is on Hard always. Get ready to lose 3 of every 4 games you play because the AI always gets the card they need. I know how to play this game and can win it playing against most people. But this AI is ridiculous. There should be easy/medium/hard settings for the AI/computer player. The game is still fun. The UI is quite small. Perhaps the designer could have thought through or play-tested it better before its launch. Perhaps it would be better potentially forcing the game into landscape view instead of portrait view on an iPhone. There should also be an option to slow down the AI animation of the card being played. It happens too quickly for the average person to clearly understand what move the AI performed. A few tweaks could make this game stellar from a players view. In its current state, it is a hard 3 out of 5.

Amazing recreation! The only problem is online play. Haven't been able to have a single online game yet. Maybe it would be good to add an indicator of the amount of online players so we have a rough idea of queue times. Edit: online play doesn't work when I tru to play against a friend. Good implimentation; not enough solo options. The expansions aren't on here. AI has 1 level of difficulty you eventually can game/predict. You really want this for multiplayer; local or online. Looks and responds great,,it's helpful. But it doesn't do enough without a 2nd player.

Scoring system broken

Couple notes I’ve noticed There isn’t any penalty for going into the negative with coins Science bonus tokens don’t count for overall points ( I had the agriculture token which gives a bonus 3 points for every science token I have which should have given me a 15 point bonus) THIS WAS NOT PART OF MY FINAL SCORE I’m sure there is more but that’s what I’ve caught

This app is designed very well, everything is so smooth and well laid out. It plays fast too. The tutorial is good, I am new to the game and it was sufficient to learn the basics. I still haven’t won yet, but it plays fast so I always want to try again. It’s different each time too. It’s also good on battery. Thank you for offering this for a fair price with no ads or IAP. Developers like this are rare, and it’s appreciated. I’ll be playing this a lot!

Great app version of the real game. Good graphics and animations. When playing two players on the same device you can play side by side, meaning you're both just sitting beside each other looking at the same view. Or you can play end to end as though you're sitting across from one another with the phone flat on the table, so each players turn the screen will flip to face you. Pretty awesome. The AI is also pretty challenging making single player actually fun to play and practice.

Live game

Update: Game is broken, accounts no longer working. Can still play against AI, but no longer have username or stats. I almost didn’t buy this cause of the review that said server wasn’t supported and no live games. I have not found that to be the case. I’ve played a few games everyday. Sometimes I get no match or it takes a few minutes, but I think that’s likely related to how many people are online. Anyway, just wanted to put my experience so no one is dissuaded as I almost was and there are more people online.

AI is broken

I own the physical board game. I have probably played it 100 times with multiple other people and have quite a bit of experience with the game. And yet after downloading the game and playing the AI I lost my first 7 games and won the 8th game by only 2 points. It makes me regret buying the game when the AI is clearly unbalanced. I don’t mind there being an option for varying levels of AI, but if you are Hopi got play against the AI, be prepared for the computer to have a knack for getting just the right card to flip up.

Good mobile adaptation

Very buggy to get game started

App freezes often after taking wonders but before Age 1 cards get dealt. No way to restart game from where you left off to get it to refresh. Just have to restart the game. If you can get it to deal out, game play is smooth and the AI is good and not unbeatable, would have liked multiple levels of difficulty AI.

The digital game suffers from the same flaw of the physical version without the expansions: who gets what card is a foregone conclusion without more options to mitigate it. Happy to pay for the expansions, but don't want to play more until they come.

I don’t understand what that numbering is, but 1.1.4 was released so I just assumed that meant it was included since 2 years ago they said it was coming. It wasn’t. And after 2 years, I think it’s safe to assume it’s never coming. If you even briefly switch out of the app you then forfeit and your spouse wins… super frustrating, but I guess I’m just out $5. With the iTunes family plan at least we didn’t both have to buy it.

Great Game - Until Recently

Great game, mediocre app/online experience

I love this game and it is so much fun to play. However, the online experience could be greatly improved. First off, the connectivity/server is poor, which has resulted in me not being able to log on at times or getting dropped from games that count as losses to my record/ELO. Next, there is a bug where I don’t get credit for beating a guest player. The app team told me they’d look into it and I haven’t gotten a response in weeks. Third, there is no ladder/rankings to see how you are compared to other players and their is no chat function, so even when playing with friends you can’t communicate. Great game, but hope for improvement in the online experience…

Game is excessively laggy

On brand new iPhone 13 pro and the animations cause so much lag that I frequently have to wait 15-30 seconds per FRAME. I’ve never seen lag like this on an app before.

The app crashes when I play the ai. It seems to crash during the 3rd age which is super annoying since it does not save your progress meaning your game is just gone.

Well designed app and fun game with minor flaws

Update: revised my review from 4 stars to 2 stars The latest update has made this game a buggy mess. Now the game makes moves for me randomly in some games, the countdown clock was only 5 seconds for me in one game, the beginning tiles sometimes load slowly or don’t load at all. I wasn’t able to select my first card and had to skip my turn a few times. These random bugs ruin this app and unfortunately it doesn’t look like they update it too regularly. Previous: This game has got me hooked, it’s a great two-player head to head game which seems like two-player solitaire at first but ends up with a bit more strategy than you think. I really really wish there was a way to deal with AFK players. As of now, the only thing to do is wait for the clock to run out but it is the most forgiving clock in game history, and each time you take your turn you have to wait a minute for the AFK player’s turn clock to slowly dwindle. This needs to be fixed. Also, there needs to be asynchronous match making, as much as I like this game I can’t wait 5 minutes for a match and then play for 10-15 min straight. I’m only on my phone if I have a min or two to burn.

Great but misleading

So I am a huge fan of the “board game” and the app adaptation. One thing that is misleading is the “online” play. While you can do a quick match with a stranger I haven’t figured out how to face my friend unless we are on the same wifi network…so very misleading and I hope I’m wrong. Also what’s missing…. The expansions! I haven’t played those but it would be cool to have the option. Perhaps also an AI difficulty slider…at times it would be nice to up the challenge to simulate an experienced opponent. The three stars is JUST because the “online” friend play isn’t exactly that.

Scoring glitch needs to be fixed

This is a great digital adaptation of the board game that we love, which I would like to give 5 stars to, BUT... There is a glitch in the scoring calculation when playing pass and play or face to face and using the “Economy” Progress token. The first time that I noticed this, I had the Progress token and my son was getting paid instead of me when he would have had to pay for cards. He ended the game with more than 50 coins! During another game, I once again had the Economy token and my daughter was getting random large amounts of coins for selling cards. Please fix this! This game is due for an update!

Everything I wanted

This app is a perfect re-creation of the board game. I’ve been enjoying the real game with my friend for a few months now and went looking on the App Store to see if there were any cool apps that went along with it and found this. It’s a great way to play the game when you have no one around to play with or to play with my friend. I really hope they add the expansions here soon because they add so much the the game.

Rigged

This would be a 5 star as I love this game but it is rigged so you can’t win by military. I finally was about to recently and it crashed. The AI knows what it’s doing. It either rigs the cards or crashes. I will give 5 star if it just lets me win by military one time. All I ask. Don’t stack the cards and lose by military like a man.
