An open world adventure game filled with silly characters and terrible secrets.
Afterplace is an adventurous indie game for mobile devices. It's a huge open world, full of hidden secrets, treasures, and creatures. You'll run around the woods, fight monsters, and talk to ostensibly shady characters! All from your pocket! Be warned though - you never know what the forest might be hiding. Not all trails are paved. Labyrinths and dungeons are tucked away in the most concealed nooks. There are no waypoints in Afterplace. You'll have to forge your own path. Afterplace has been designed from the ground up to be a fast, fluid, beautiful experience for mobile. There are no virtual buttons. You can move and attack by touching anywhere. You can tap objects directly to interact or attack, use two thumbs like a traditional controller, or control the game with a physical gamepad. The game will adapt dynamically to your play style. Pick up and set down the game at your own pace, it will always save your progress. Afterplace is made to feel like a full-fledged indie adventure game that fits in your pocket. About the Author: Afterplace is made by one person, Evan Kice. A former software engineer from Austin TX, Evan quit his job (to the dismay of his friends and family) and has been working full time on Afterplace since early 2019. The initial game released in December of 2022, but Evan plans on continuing to support and polish the game when he can!

Beautifully written game. Can't believe i found a hidden gem with such an emotional ending. Gameplay wise, very enjoyable and fun. Story/Lore wise, very very VERY good. This game reminds me of Undertale. I highly recommend it for everyone to try. My only wish here is having an achievement list, but i guess the mystery is what makes this game more enjoyable.
- MrBroggGames · v1.2.22
If you read nothing else know this: this is an AMAZING GAME. PLAY IT. 10/10 story, I was entranced the whole time. The characters are so interesting and cute. The tidbits of the backstory throughout kept perfectly drip feeding me and making me want to know more. I WANTED to read every book in the library. 9/10 gameplay, Controls are simple and snappy but struggle rarely due to having something to interact with around, making it so you don't swing your sword when you tap. A rare issue at least.
- SleepyDuckBoi · v1.2.22
came in with 0 expectations after scrolling randomly for something new to play - I never expected a mobile game to have this depth of storytelling and gameplay. 10/10 fair warning, I get scared easily so I always google for jumpscare warnings/generally scary content - google will tell you this game doesn't have any but it ABSOLUTELY does.
- Lina Grey · v1.2.22
One of the best games I've ever played.
- C D · v1.2.22
THIS GAME IS A JEWEL! The only reason I've give it 3 stars is because there's a very annoying problem: I prefer to play it in landscape mode, cuz it's more conformable to play, specially in fights, but there's no way to zoom the camera a little and they put the camera waay too far! Everything becomes a dot on my screen. Pls fix that. For those who loved this game, try MINISHOOT'S ADVENTURE too, it's similar.
- Jonas Elric · v1.2.22
there is only one thing that makes this game feel bad. the loading time between different zones. its really annoying to restart a run and having to start all the way from home. I appreciate the effect that has emotionally and I DON'T want to play invincibility mode. so just having a better loading experience would take away some of the friction.
- The making of Multi- Waves · v1.2.22
If you like old school Zelda types, this game doesn't disappoint
- Jacob Filek · v1.2.22
this is the coolest game ever, it's beautifully designed in so many ways! it has gorgeous pixel visuals, colours, sound design, writing, and characters. been playing for 30 minutes and have laughed out loud many times. you can tell how much love and creativity has gone into it. the fact it was priced so low is shocking to me and the choice to not run any ADs is the cherry on top of the cake. super immersive. thank you developer(s) of Afterplace for a lovely experience 🩷
- Katie S · v1.2.22
cool story game. it's refreshing. and it also reminds me of pokemon fire red
- Senzo Junior Mdletshe · v1.2.22
Had this on my phone for years before I found myself in a life situation that let me play. Vertical, one handed, on a cramped subway, in bursts over the course of two weeks. Game was built perfectly for that, controls very well, with some unexpected moments that has a great blend of nostalgic vibes with modern inspired design, lots of secrets, and many “wtf” moments, and simple, but effective/funny/emotional dialogue. Bravo, excited for whatever is next for this dev, and convincing my friends to pick this one up.
- Atomos128 · v1.2.22
A beautiful, stunning experience!
- Josiah Sey · v1.2.22
So far it's absolutely phenomenal. I've done what I always do in games and went everywhere that felt like I wasn't supposed to go first. I generally don't recommend this play style as it's usually game breaking and/or boring. It honestly feels like this game is rewarding me for it though. Also look up Ea-nāṣir, the copper salesman. There's a funny reference about him in a certain location
- R H · v1.2.22
Great game so far. It's simple looking but a lot to it. I'm a little confused on what exactly to do but no matter what, I'm having fun while being confused.
- komodo gamer · v1.2.22
very few games like this exist on the app store well worth the play.
- Sergio Carretto
Actually really surprised me. I've only been playing for an hour or 2, honestly probably more idk, but there are alot of little quirky things EVERY WHERE that make this game really feel alive and stick out and bring me back. im absolutely In love with the game, from the wheat field shtick, to the hidden areas, the different interaction with different "people" or 'Kin", to the combat, the lore is deep & funny & overall amazing. This game is a solid 10. I have so much more to say. 100% buy this!!!
- Jay Baker · v1.2.22
I can’t even explain why I’m writing a review I’m at such a loss of words. I haven’t never been this blown away by a game let alone a mobile one. The story, art, music, combat. Everything seemingly basic coming together to create an absolutely masterpiece! No rules, no one telling you to complete the story but yet there is nothing you want more. The emotional depth the symbolism, the creator of this game truly weaved pieces of their existence into this. The attention to detail, i urge to play this game 1000 times over just to try everything a little different just to experience every possibility. I don’t even remember how much I paid for it, the money will go these emotions and lessons will stay with me forever.
- Cysos · v1.2.23
Very attractive pixel adventure game But CRASH at the begining on iOS 12.2 please fix it THX!!!
- Gooddaymanboy · v1.2.23
I have only been playing for a few hours now and made it to the bottom of the library, but I can tell I am going to enjoy this game a lot. The movement and combat is very easy to pick up and the variety of monsters so far is nice. Cannot wait to see what other treasures can be found. I did pick this up while it was on sale, but I could see myself paying full price for this. Very well made mobile game. Will definitely put this on my YouTube channel ❤️
- Sir Little Wolf · v1.2.22
Genuinely one of the best mobile games out there in terms of narrative! the art is also very impressive. I cannot recommend this enough!
- Aylissa Rose · v1.2.22
Incredible hidden gem. Strong Zelda games vibes with lucid spice. Great story. Fantastic world building. True labour of love of the single dev.
- martin kazmierczak · v1.2.22
Reminds me of the original Zelda, a great, hard to put down, (funny) little adventure. I wish more games were as easy to play, with it's 1 thumb control system. Afterplace is not "a walk in the park" kind of game, but it's not hard either, it's just a big adventure with the player needing to learn and remember as they go. MORE GAMES LIKE THIS PLEASE! 👍🏻
- Johnathan Webster · v1.2.22
OK and fun at first, but also too simple and it turns forgettable by the end and you can safely skip it. It is a wannabe Undertale with a catchy song or two that looks like a dev's first game, and the characters are too nondescript. It's best played with a controller.
- guuglesucks gotham · v1.2.19
proof that mobile gaming still has some artists at the helm. Dangerously addictive, reminds me of Zelda, Undertale and strangely.. Elden ring - it's the same feeling of something completely new and different, the unexpectedness and something new around every corner. Amazing game, just get it.
- Reece · v1.2.22
amazing game for sure, but I think that when I finished I missed some things...
- Diego MF · v1.2.22
This game blew it out of the water! WAY exceeded my expectations. I loved it!! Now I have gaming hangover and am going to have such a hard time trying to find something to follow that up >.<
- Danielle Hansing · v1.2.22
Amazing short story with so many details to explore.
- Finian Graham · v1.2.22
Incredible game. Dialogue was well written and creative. Definitely has that blend of goofy humor meshed with surreal horror that Undertale really nailed (I say horror but the game isn't actually very scary).
- mallowthief !! · v1.2.22
Top notch.
- Martin Stott · v1.2.22
I think saying too much about *why* this game is incredible (which it is!) defeats the purpose of what the creator intended for the player to experience upon first play-through. Buy this game, set aside some time to really enjoy it and have fun! Afterplace is one of my favorite games I’ve played in 30+ years of gaming. Thank you!
- Dr. Anneli Taube · v1.2.23
Incredible game! Just what I was looking for for my long car ride. the game world is atmospheric, goofy, mysterious, and often a bit disturbing in a PG horror kind of way. Could have done without so much pink on the main character but it works out.. The final boss battle was just bonkers...Ingenious idea there! Worth the full price
- JRHockney · v1.2.22
Kodos to the dev, this was an amazing game. I can remember what I paid for it but it was definitely worth every penny. the story is engaging and the gameplay is hard to get used to at first but still very good. 100% recommend this game to everyone looking for a fun adventure.
- Francois Lizotte
LLLOOOVVVEEE THIS GAME!!!
- Carl “Brian” Neely
Deserves its five star rating, unequivocally. The characters and world building are gorgeous, the combat is straightforward yet enjoyable, and the dialogue is also funny and enjoyable. A thorough delight. Well worth its asking price.
- Cassidy Durose · v1.2.22
Game was amazing! Kept me so involved and intrigued I fought to get through it in just a couple days, unfortunately😄 loved it!!!
- Nicholas Whitley
This is a wonderful game! At its heart it is about exploration and it does a great job of giving you a world you want to explore. Mechanically it is very light, but I found that it struck a good balance of being enjoyable, while allowing me to focus more on the world and the story. As you explore and get to know the world and the characters the story comes together. It strikes a fun balance of heartwarming and creepy and I found the writing very well done. It's a one time purchase, worth it!
- Mark Ellis · v1.2.22
I bought this game for an international flight and it was a great time. It has Undertale vibes. I'm not a huge gamer and have never bought a mobile game and this game had a satisfying story and progression without being too hard. As a non-gamer I also appreciated the invincible mode that could be toggled in the settings so I could get through a couple parts without tedious attempts. That said, I also really liked that dying was part of the storyline! Also the music was nicely done.
- Bridget S · v1.2.22
Genuinely a great game with excellent level design, funny dialog, and good pacing. There were sometimes I wasn't sure where to go next but I eventually found my way to the end. I liked this game very much!
- Tyler · v1.2.22
A game with soul that deserves more attention. It's funny, highly unique, and a visually beautiful game that was clearly a passion project by the solo creator. Exploration, curiosity, and cheeky player choices are rewarded every single time, even if it's just a funny hidden dialog option or interaction. Got it on sale for $1, but well worth buying at full price, as it will be one of the very few mobile games I'll remember fondly for years to come.
- Joe M · v1.2.22
One of the best games! The amount of content in this game is incredible considering it's a mobile game. The world is fun to explore and the story is pretty good. Combat is fun and controls are easy. The effort put into character development was excellent. All in all though you can just tell the dev really cared about this game. Highly recommend.
- Jonathan Powell · v1.2.22
Amazing, phenomenal game. If you enjoy games like Undertale for the story and world exploration, this has a very similar vibe regarding that aspect. The battle mechanics are easy enough to understand, the battles/encounters exciting and sometimes terrifying, absolutely a challenge worth taking on! Not many games I have found on the playstore like this that were as long or as detailed in story. Very fun, high recommendation!
- Anna Crownover · v1.2.22
i guess I thought this was a action adventure game but it's just adventure with a little combat added to make the game more than sightseing just thought this was boring: also the game was lagging and crashing very slow for a pixel game
- Jay Cee
Extremely charming, the story is intriguing. I will see where it goes.
- William Law · v1.2.22
Absolutely well done. The various gags are great, world design is nice and gives a sense of scale without being empty. The characters are great. And that finale, that was the coolest thing I've ever seen a 2d game like this do. Top notch, worth every penny.
- Dakota Stevens · v1.2.22
Weird, odd and strange game but interesting storyline and bit humorous. No complaints whatsoever. Really well made game by one person.
- Jack · v1.2.22
Wow, I really didn't expect how amazing this game would be. I hope to play more games by this developer one day! The world feels super alive, the characters are written so nicely. I looooved the story. I'm usually horrible with horror but this was very doable for me! I tend to explore every nook and cranny in games, and this was really rewarded in Afterplace. Mr Dev - I explored every library shelf with Joxxi, and then again with Joxxi and Minno, and it was such a blast, loved all the dialogue!!
- Lev F · v1.2.21
REALLY REALLY GOOD. Recommend to ANYONE.

- dahdumbguy · v1.2.21
Genuinely the best mobile game I have ever played. not overstating. It's made with so much love, so many cute details, a good story, the right amount of difficulty... just amazing. You MUST play this. I'd spend 50 bucks on a prequel.
- Janis Jansen · v1.2.21
4 stars for effort and passion went into making this game. The actual quality is 3 at best, otherwise. The story has many cheesy moments that repulsed me from really appreciating my experience, and gameplay is rather simplistic.
- The Nameless
This is simply amazing. I am only about 45 minutes in and this is one of the best mobile games I've ever played. It's so thoughtfully done. What an amazing developer.
- Noah S · v1.2.21
Easily one of if not the best mobile game I've ever played. The only thing I would change is making it longer because it's such a wonderful experience. The world is captivating and fun to explore and learn over time. The writing and characters give me similar vibes to Undertale, although I actually think the combat is more well designed in this game. This is a must play and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
- John Ouellette · v1.2.21
GOATED
- D4L3 · v1.2.21
I’ve played like 30 games on the iOS system, this is the first one that controls perfectly, and I really gotten lost in the world. The graphics and design and everything is just beautiful, it’s so nice to see a real work of art made by a developer who cares about video games and the product. Not just another subscription slop to make money for the shareholders
- Nick131435135 · v1.2.21
I had to write a review, I just finished Afterplace and was blown away by how fun it was, I didn’t want it to end, but the fact that it did made it even better. It was so well done, and felt like a revival of old Super Nintendo games but with a fresh face. I can’t wait for the creator to make another one!
- Why do we need a nickname✌️ · v1.2.21

- Blaž Bohinc · v1.2.21
what a gem. this should be the standard of mobile games. definitely an exploration game. it won't hold your hand which to me is a plus. world building is great. combat is simple, not extremely challenging but i enjoyed it. wish there was a sequel because the world felt so full. would love to experience more of it
- Ty · v1.2.21
I was looking for a game that truly felt designed for the phone. Afterplace plays perfectly in portrait mode and I found myself mostly using just one thumb, switching to two thumbs in tough situations. This game looks simple glancing at a screenshot, but the moment the game starts, you feel the love poured into this world. Little details in faces and animations, a timeless kind of humour, and so many cool things I won't talk about because I don't want to take away an ounce of discovery from you.
- Kelsey Scalzi · v1.2.21
The only thing I would change is either a true map or a quick travel between distant locations, but still overall incredible and beyond expectations. excellent work, and I would highly recommend.
- Brandon Bito · v1.2.21
What a beautiful, moving experience. Absolutely fantastic game.
- Paul Wood
This was a truly beautiful story, and easily makes my top ten favorite games. Evan, if you have any more stories to tell, I will happily pay any price to play them.
- Kayleigh Alyssa · v1.2.21
Just a really well done game. Good story, good gameplay, good music and sfx.
- Aaron Zakem · v1.2.21
Ohmygoodnesss I LOVE this one. Pixel art is incredible. Open world play with subtle guidance is mysterious and liberating without being aimless and frustrating. Music contributes flawlessly to cute-yet-creepy vibes. Combat is challenging enough to be engaging but not grindy failure frustrating. Story is utterly captivating. Im gushing too much, but seriously my favorite game of the year+ and I havent even finished it yet.
- Alexandra Miller · v1.2.21
Oh my goodness please please please buy this game it is objectively the BEST mobile game ever made!!!
- 240 Pineville · v1.2.21
Simple adventure game, the touch control is a bit wonky, hard to time a dodge roll with it, thankfully combat is easy enough I can just make do without rolling at all. Also the best ending isn't difficult to get is a plus, nothing in game requires googling to figure out, I enjoy games that aren't overly complicated. Overall can recommend lol.
- Cath Seth · v1.2.21
Wow. How do I even explain what an incredible experience that game was? I have not enjoyed a game like this in *years* - and it couldn't have turned up at a better time in my life. I was expecting the usual phone game experience, and it was on sale so I figured why not. Before I knew it... I'd spent the next two days straight unable to put it down. This reminds me of the magic and immersion games had when I was a kid. Thank you for such a unique game in these strange times!
- Chip Ipenburg · v1.2.21
LOVED this game!!! It took me about 6 hours to beat it and I feel like I still didn't 100% the game. it reminded me a lot of the retro Zelda game boy games. if you enjoyed playing those you will love this too! I really loved all of the characters and how they all had personalities and how funny a lot of the things they said were. Well worth the price
- Summer Winfry
Fun gameplay, gorgeous art, playful music, and sublime story. Couldn't believe it was a solo project.
- Nahom Ephrem · v1.2.21
This was a fun game, I loved the world it was in, it had fun and funny characters and a simply combat that anyone can master. I was invested in the story, it had drama, horror, comedic relief and gets serious when needed. This is definitely a game you return to, to experience the game again and explore every ending
- Sifiso Thwala · v1.2.21
Beautiful. The 80's pixel graphics, original music and storytelling is superb. Highly recommend.
- JAY VINCE · v1.2.21
Oh man... WHAT. A. GAME. Seriously, from the first dialog I was hooked. The jokes, the style, the characters, the story, the gameplay, Everything was top notch. I just wanted some one-handed vertical game, and I found this GEM. Thank You for making this game!
- Gábor Orosz · v1.2.21
great little game. played 1 time though and going at it again to get a new ending. The multiple endings reminds me of one of my old time favorites Chrono Trigger.
- R. OKAZAKI · v1.2.21
I went into this blind and was blown away by the amount of depth to the game. I legitimately teared up at the end. It’s a really beautiful game and I hope to see more from the developer soon!
- SickNong · v1.2.21
This is a masterpiece of games, I mean a true masterpiece. There is something magical about Afterplace, and that magic is in the fluidness of the game. There is so much to explore and get lost in this game, but you never really feel lost. The game mechanics and story come together in a genius way that no matter what choice you make you progress, whether you know it or not. Multiple endings so replay value remains pretty high. And the character development is wonderful with deep conversations with even the most basic characters. This game was crafted like the great games of an older simpler time where video game developers cared less about the profit and more about the product! I recommend this game to anyone, but especially us retro adventure gamers from the dawn of great adventure games like Chrono Trigger or Zelda.
- Khakies · v1.2.21
Simply Excellent. I don't play much on mobile, but this game is so well designed and thought out, that it works perfectly. I prefer a real controller when playing games in general (this one does support that too) but it was very playable and great to play with just touch. kudos to the developer. Cleverly written, this should be a must buy for any top-down rpg fan.
- Nick Fieldhouse · v1.2.21

The intuitiveness of the controls is just artwork. The dialogue is top notch. Love the map based navigation elements. Absolutely phenomenal!
- Lance Voxel · v1.2.21
This game was well worth its cost. Eccentric, entertaining characters, unusual takes on established tropes, and worlds both whimsical and disturbing… I’m currently on my third play-through, I think. Note: the menu’s(?)… title page’s(?)… the opening music is as beautiful as it is thematically relevant. I’d say more about that music, but that would include spoilers.

UPDATE 2026: y’all. Honestly, this is such a good game. The controls make sense, the dialogue is so funny (without trying to be a comedic game), and it was interesting all the way through. ORIGINAL REVIEW:What a fantastic game. From start to finish, I laughed and gasped. This game is so good.
- HWRNW · v1.2.20
Fr the best game i have ever played, counting phone and console games. If you’re thinking abt playing pls pls do, it is so good. The storyline is great, I love the pacing, I love the map, and everything is so insanely detailed it’s crazy.
- apoohhh · v1.2.20
I love the game. The gamepad support and portrait-landscape orientation switch are truly magnificent. Unfortunately, it would be good if there was a button or option to adjust the zooming graphics which will exclusively show a minimap, but not when not zoomed in. Lastly, I've had a problem with loading, which takes a few minutes each time I switch to another map location, making me think the game has frozen and even making me sleepy. I hope you can improve the game in the next update 🔥💪

- Zarino Fodera · v1.2.20
Top notch adventure game with an interesting story that has occasional serious moments but fun writing that ranges from slightly whimsical to outright parody of the genre, and a world that is much bigger than you think when you start. Lots of odd little nooks and crannies to explore. Worth every penny.
- Book Beard · v1.2.20
At $1 I feel like I got away with something. This reminds me of nothing so much as a mini-Undertale: it probably took me 8 hours to finish? 8-10? And it left a really … good impression. There’s nothing that I felt it did … extremely uniquely, but I really enjoyed everything it did, if that makes sense. Incredibly worth your dollar. I’d expect it to be on steam for $10 with 100,000 reviews and an Overwhelmingly Positive moniker or something.
- anechoe · v1.2.20
This is one of the best games I’ve ever played. It brought back memories of Zelda with a hint of Undertale. I’m genuinely surprised this game is not at the top of the charts
- Josiah3408 · v1.2.20
Such a great game. On a trip and enjoyed every second of this game. I finished one play through and understand there are multiple endings and more exploration to be had. I would highly recommend to any and all game heads young and old. Classic Zelda feel with a modern undertale story line and dialogue. Try it out when you’re looking for a good game to sink a good amount of well played time into.
- nonamesarentaken · v1.2.20
By far one of the best games I have played on my iPhone. Whimsical and surreal all at once.
- mulderc · v1.2.19
I bought this game blind because I wanted something charming and easy to jump into when I had downtime. I wasn’t expecting the gameplay to be so high quality, but what really shocked me was how invested in the story and the world building I became. Everything unfolds seamlessly into fright, sadness, and joy. Turning every corner, encountering every new character, felt ripe with the possibility of devastating me, horrifying me, or revealing some terrible truth about who my character is. I cannot recommend the experience of this game enough.
- tedium_ · v1.2.19
I just started the game and I'm really intrigued and expect to enjoy it a lot as I continue to play. But.... I really hate how the virtual joystick moves with me and isnt fixed in place. If there already is a way to lock it then please let me know and if not, please add it as an option in settings. It is genuinely a problem for me and makes it harder to fight and traverse for absolutely no reason. So please, let me lock the joystick.
- eggsan101 · v1.2.19
This game is truly a diamond in the rough. I never thought I’d love a mobile game as much as I loved this one. Great characters, interesting story, engaging gameplay, and wonderful music. This game was a reminder to me that video games are truly an art. Evan I hope you keep making games!

Afterplace is truly something special. Hard to believe this entire game was made by one person—it’s beautiful, immersive, and unforgettable. The music is incredible, the gameplay is smooth and engaging, and the story kept me hooked from start to finish. I couldn’t put it down until I beat it. Easily one of the best mobile games I’ve ever played.
- Syrup Gorrila · v1.2.19
I just got off a long haul flight, and I barely realized it because in that time, I went from first opening the app to beating the game in 9 straight hours. I have never been so engaged by a mobile game before, and I will definitely be watching for whatever this dev is working on next. Incredible game.
- Bagelman263 · v1.2.19
This game is like a AAA open world adventure puzzle game like Zelda but made to work perfectly for mobile. It is a great amount of play time and you can even replay the whole thing and get different interactions and endings. Amazing art, amazing writing, and breathtaking attention to detail. This is obviously a labor of love. It’s incredible. Bravo to the SOLO developer 👏👏👏
- anish543 · v1.2.19
This game is a literal masterpiece and I think it’s the best game I’ve ever played on iOS. While the combat is simple, the exploration is amazing, along with the story, soundtrack, and fun cast of characters. I actually got a bit emotional at the end of the game—the game just hits that hard. What an amazing journey. I only wish I could experience playing and progressing through this game for the first time again. Also, being able to fully play this game with vertical orientation and with one hand makes this great for just chilling in bed, exploring this awesome world and story. 10/10 game
- bigfabz · v1.2.18
I rarely write reviews, this may actually be my first one ever. I haven’t played a better iOS game than this. The story, gameplay, art style, and music are all exceptional. If this were a $20 game, you’d definitely get your money's worth. I just completed my third playthrough. Without giving any spoilers, I can say that players will probably miss a few details during their first couple of runs. I highly recommend getting this game and coming back to write a review to support the developers, as we need more games like this in an App Store filled with microtransactions games.
- Nathan _ G · v1.2.18
I’m tired of games skipping things like maps and quest trackers and then having the nerve to tell me it’s a feature.
- mgaydash · v1.2.17
The characters, story, overall writing, development, plot twists. Everything. Awesome sci-fi, great gameplay, fun and interesting exploration. Great controls for IOS and totally playable on my phone. Even the soundtrack is great. It’s super interesting. Has just enough “woah what was THAT?!” Moments mixed with generally relaxing and chill exploration. It’s a great game and I want more.
- Robertizzle · v1.2.17
Easily the best game I’ve played this year - unforgettable story, music, characters, and twists that had me shook like no other game has done.
- RyiiS · v1.2.17
I beat the game. It was great. I wish I could look at more of the lore for what happened to a bunch of the characters. I have questions 😅. What happened to ANNIE!?
- KatoTheGato · v1.2.17
I never leave reviews but this game is literally perfect. I’m always looking for deep, engaging games that I can play even when frequently interrupted and Afterplace fits the bill! The story is deep and excellent, the characters are endearing and unique, the controls are perfect. This is the best game I’ve ever played on iOS.
- Jmarch09 · v1.2.16
Absolutely phenomenal story, characters, and a charming art style. I randomly stumbled upon this game on the App Store, and it’s one of the best IOS games (and RPG games in general) I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. If you have 7 dollars to spend, this game is more than worth it.
- One Pixel · v1.2.15
A lot of love was put into this game. I don’t usually have patience for adventure games these days, but this one is too good. Couldn’t stop playing. Thanks, devs.
- Crisdjin · v1.2.15
I came into this game expecting something casual and lighthearted. Something I wouldn’t take too seriously. NOPE!!! This game is insane. Huge world, great lore, challenging combat, it has it all. Do yourself a favor and play this game.
- Evil-Eye-99 · v1.2.15
Yes, it is actually that good. If you need a random game to get sucked into, this one’s worth more than a cup of coffee. It’s charming, beautiful, heartfelt and fun. The worst thing about it is that it ends. I laughed out loud, my jaw dropped many times, and the game managed to make me cry by the end. The game play is simple, the enemies formidable, and the heroes are very endearing. All out of the mind of some guy in Texas. I will be waiting to hear on any new projects. Solid 5/5
- Feoglet · v1.2.15
In an app store full of games with microtransactions, this one dares to stand out from the rest. The developer truly has a gamers heart and it’s clear their goal here was to create a game that players would love and enjoy without spending so much money to “level up” their character. This game, with its simple, but beautifully written story, gameplay, that’s not complex but fun, memorable characters, and music, I can’t help but keep coming back to experience this piece of art over and over. I love this game so much, it’s ruined mobile gaming for me because I can’t find another game this good. I truly hope you make more games or continue to add content to this game. If you have a list of investors for a next project, please add me to it, I would be more than happy to contribute to any future developments.
- albutappinthat · v1.2.15
Easily one of the best games I have had the fortune to play on a phone, and a masterpiece for a single artist’s work. The story, characters, setting, and art are all magnificent. The combat is fun and simple, and it’s a surprisingly addictive pick up and play for a few minutes or an hour. I would recommend to everyone I know.
- Rhapsodist · v1.2.15
I bought this game on a whim, and it became the first game I have beaten in a long time without any guides! Other than the in-game rudimentary map you find, there is little to no hand holding. The game is incredibly charming and you can feel the love from the dev in every decision you make. I legitimately love this game. Please give it a try, look at it as an Undertale-like.
- BlueberryBeef · v1.2.15
At first it may seem like just an ordinary whimsical action-adventure. Hardly the first game where you run through the forest and kill slimes. But if you explore diligently, there’s something deeper and darker here that transforms this game into a completely unique experience. It’s a lovingly handcrafted world where every detail is well thought out. Combat and puzzles require thinking but aren’t too difficult. In all, this is one of my favorite iOS games of all time! Solo developer, unique vision, fair price: a welcome relief from the flood of mass-market freemium games.
- Lingrush24 · v1.2.15
The true ending made me cry it’s better than Minecraft
- Kirby pf · v1.2.15
I binged played it for 4 days. Its worth every penny! Kinda mind blowing!
- Fb.com/elRomansa · v1.2.15
This game was better than many PC/console games I played this year. It tugged at my heartstrings and mystified me at every turn. Any self respecting person who plays games must play this game.
- Merto101 · v1.2.14
I never leave reviews but I’m about two hours into this game and already love it. Been looking for weeks for a game to play and couldn’t get hooked to anything other than Balatro. But this is the RPG I didn’t know I needed. Super interesting story and charming game play. Makes me want to know what happens next.
- Nudes4free · v1.2.14
This game is so original and fun! It satisfies the part of me that wants to wander around and find the secret passages, learn the mazes. The characters are all interesting. The dialogue is funny and enjoyable (which is rare). I love all the crazy products you can buy from the vendors and the wacky effects they induce. The story just kept getting and deeper and I was very immersed and interested with the whole thing start to finish. It reminded me of if legend of Zelda and Myst had a baby. Evan Kice, you are a genius and I sincerely hope you will make a next chapter of Afterplace or a prequel because I want more. I don’t want it t be over. If it’s an issue of money start a Kickstarter and you’ll get funding. anyway, thank you for this incredible gem of a game.
- mettabit · v1.2.14
Surprisingly intriguing story and depth, with fluid controls designed specifically for mobile
- MauXanhO · v1.2.14
Where to begin? The storyline is definitely vague at the beginning, but as you progress, you start to see all the pieces fitting beautifully and masterfully. The though process between the different graphics depending on the world is lovely. The main graphics and world remind me of playing the original Zelda games with trying to memorize all the pathways and hidden areas. Great variety of monsters to defeat, and very touching ending with a beautiful resolve. If I were to make ANY changes, it’d be that the world was a little bigger, and that you’d be able to find and use more weapons. Cannot wait to join the next adventure with Yu and the friends you make along the way!! Very well done 👏👏👏❤️
- JessicaShae the one and only · v1.2.14
Got this game on a whim because it was on sale and looked cute. Was NOT expecting the depth of artistry, worldbuilding, character development and story that this game delivered. I love a game that doesn't hold your hand and that lets you explore and figure out things on your own. This game did that well and had so many fun secrets and surprises to discover along the way. I fell in love with this world and its characters. Will definitely be returning for another playthrough, but will miss the experience of going in blind for the first time! A new all time favorite ♥️
- gretchlewis8 · v1.2.14
Easily the best game I’ve ever played on my phone. It’s put together incredibly well. It’s just challenging enough without being too easy or too difficult and the controls are stupid simple but work perfect. I hope Evan makes a sequel or an equivalent game.
- swampdonkey26 · v1.2.14
I was getting tired of finding mobile games that I would download, play for 10 minutes, then instantly delete. I needed a new game to get into. Then this game kept popping up. I eventually said “screw it. Why not try?” This game has seared itself into my brain. I’ve only played few games that hook me like this one. Heck, I never write reviews for games on the App Store. But I just had to write about how absolutely charming this world(or fabrication of a world…)is. You get sucked into the charm instantly, with the first thing you see being a demonic-looking portal, setting you up for exactly what this game is: a trippy game full of many moments of existential crisis hidden inside a charming Zelda/Chrono Trigger-style game. My favorite thing has to be the writing. There are moments where I straight up laughed out loud at things characters said, simply because it was so charming. But there are times the writing is so good that it scares you. But I’ll let you play for yourself to find out… Anyway, I’m just mad I didn’t find this game sooner. If you have 7 bucks to spare and you’re looking for a good game to play, give this a shot. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

I recently bought a controller for my phone and was looking for a little time waster RPG to play while I waited to get my steam link and GeForce connected to my phone. I picked this game up as something I thought I’d play for an hour and be done. Not only did this game get me in the first 5 minutes but it kept me utterly enamored til the very 3nd. The controls feel very simple but the combat mechanics make it very layered and complex. The RPG progression isn’t standard which is absolutely more than ok and gave me a breath of fresh air. With amazing world building, heartbreaking lore and lovable and actually funny characters, alongside a slew of twists and turns. It put me in such a good place with myself after playing and genuinely almost had me in tears at some point. I’m a cynic and I have nothing negative whatsoever to say about this experience. I’ll probably buy it on steam for myself and a few others as well. I love this game and I can safely say this game is one of my favorites of the decade. I hope to see more from Evan Kice in the near future.
- J.MoFi · v1.2.14
Lots of Asian players will buy the game immediately.
- T!M B3AR · v1.2.14
Love this game! I’m a very casual gamer, mostly just iOS games. I like Terraria, Starbound, and Junk Jack. Afterplace is simpler in that you don’t have to collect and craft things like the other listed games, but the worlds have various hidden things to find. The navigation is straight, too, in terms of pressing and holding to get around. Fighting is simply tapping to use your sword and swiping to dodge. It is very intuitive and easy for casual gamers to pick up and play. The invisibility mode is a great feature for casual gamers who like to play games but are not super skilled at fighting things. I did have to Google things when I got stuck, but I am a very basic/casual gamer. The exploration of different worlds is delightfully fun, and the character interactions are crucial to the game storyline. ***SPOILER: Depending on how you interact with the characters, you will get different endings. As a mental health professional, I truly enjoyed the story arc for the “best” ending. This game has more depth than you might expect for a phone game. What is really impressive is that this was all created by one guy who quit his engineering job to create the game. I counsel young high school and college students, and a good handful want to be video game designers. This game is an inspirational example for budding gamer developers. I really enjoyed this game and would highly recommend it! It was worth the one-time cost.
