Literally nauseating. I'm playing on an iPhone 12 and the UI buttons are so small that they cause eye strain and nausea. No options to change UI to better suit play on a phone. I'll probably stop playing as a result.

After spending many years, I had a great time on Blue Archive, but after this update, putting so much effort, so much time into the game, the gacha system got bad and in the future 3 months from now is getting worse. I spilt whatever pyroxenes and free 10 roll card I had and was forced to choose one and leave the other behind. I only had common draws. Just pyroxenes would be a serious waste of money and be bad investment. Please whoever is reading this, do not choose to invest time in this game, it’s going down a path of corruption and dismantlement, please don’t make the same mistake I have.

The game's characters, story, music are great, but the gacha system will change for the worst when it eventually catches up to the JP server's complete revamp of the gacha system, turning it from a shared-progress spark/claim at 200 system where if you luck out, you can get another featured unit with the same point counter, into a 50/50 coinflip at 100 points that can make it even worse for you to continue, and completely wipes your progress if you do obtain the rated up unit so you're forced to start from 0 pity for the next one. This is made even worse since unlike other games that use the 50/50 system with single-character, long-running banners, this game runs multiple banners for short periods of time (sometimes up to 6+) consecutively where this system is actively detrimental. As a mid-heavy spender, I cannot recommend this game in its future state when that update inevitably arrives.

New announcement completely reworks the gacha system. No more can you possibly get both students within 200 pulls. If you get the character from the banner before 200, your counter will reset! Effectively Hoyo 50/50 but WORSE because zero carry over! I have loved this game for years, played on mobile/steam and bought many pyroxenes. If this is not rolled back I will stop playing completely!! IBUKI DESERVED BETTER!! 💢

Blue Archive is a lot like many other of these kinds of games. They all differ just a little bit from each other. The positive being the Graphics, Mechanics, Variety of customization, voice acted characters. But then you have the negative - The story has an inconsistent flow through explaining what’s happening. The plot is being rushed and the grammar is off putting. There are no animations accompanying any of the cutscenes or dialogue. There’s barely any logic to the story. It takes FOREVER for the game to show you how to use its basic mechanics. And most of all, Blue Archive acts as a ‘choice game’, but it usually only gives you one choice when you “get a say” in the story, therefore there is no difference in the dialogue, and your own character can’t make any of their own decisions whatsoever, despite the fact that your character is called sensei (meaning high in command). You see; what makes a game A Game, is the fact that You’re able to control what’s happening. Otherwise, you’re practically just watching a series or movie. You CANT EVEN PLAY AS YOUR OWN CHARACTER in the fighting mini games either. It’s painful to watch yourself do nothing to contribute. Your character can’t and doesn’t have conversations with the other characters. Yet the other characters look at you as if you’ve done all these great things. It’s bland. It’s unrealistic. Its pitiful. It’s degrading. It’s degenerative. Unless they plan to fix this in the future, which I doubt they will, I would not at all recommend playing this. It is clear that the developers don’t care about you or your feelings. The storytellers don’t care about you either. They’re all doing this for their own benefit. It’s just a Bad Game.

I have been an avid player for over 2 years. Never missed my dailies. I’ve spent money on the game both for the in game currency to pull for characters as well as merch. I am now regretting it. I started playing this game because I heard it was fair and wasn’t actively seeking to bleed my wallet dry like most other mobile games, but I see upcoming changes that actively work to change that. They will change a system that worked for blue archive and replace it with a different games gacha system, that very same system which let me not to play that game in the 1st place. If I don’t see change this will remain up and I will move on. This market is saturated in gacha games why bother sticking with an abusive one.

I want to preface this by saying I genuinely loved this game. However, a series of unfortunate events has occurred from the management. Many issues I see in the greater gaming zeitgeist is happening within Blue Archive. On July 26th, 2026, the publisher and devs have decided to change core parts of the game first in Japan and China, soon on global . The biggest is the gacha system. In which it is considered far worse than even compared to more predatory games like Genshin. The devs considered this an attempt to make it easier for casual players. Furthermore, they chose to add ads after you win in the gacha. Closely tied to the first point, the story will be receiving a summary system. This once again is to appeal to casual audiences. However, this is the least engaging way to “play” the game. One of the key highlights to Blue Archive was their story. By adding this as a mechanic, they remove the interesting elements for a brief summary of what’s going on in the story. In addition, Patrick Soderland, infamous for the poor marketing tactics for BF5 and former EA Executive, was brought on to the management of Nexon. He’s fairly early on with his time, yet many of the aggressive monetization tactics from EA can be seen within Blue Archive. Thank you for your time.

What was easily one of the best gachas with great characters and amazing story is unfortunately getting updated by the developers into a much more unfair recruiting system. At this point I’d say look for other options for games to play because starting from scratch now will cost MUCH MORE than if you started a year ago.

Nexon’s finances have been tanking and now they are changing the game in a way that forces players to pay more, the problem is the way they are doing it kills the fun by turning the spark mechanic, which is widely viewed to be one of the most fair and fun ways to experience the highs and lows of a gacha system, into a toxic coin flip that feels so bad to lose that winning becomes more of a relief than a thrill.
