Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights, Sultan's Game is a narrative-driven survival card RPG set in an exotic court where deadly wagers, moral choices, and resource strategy collide in a tense, ever-shifting battle of wit and will. The Sultan, capricious and cruel, has devised a deadly game. As his minister, every card you draw must be fulfilled within seven days. Fail... and you lose your head. Indulgence, luxury, conquest, murder... each card embodies a dangerous desire, a ticking death sentence that also grants the freedom to act without consequence. Will you commit forbidden acts in its name... or cling to your principles in the face of ruin? In a court warped by power and human weakness, you must shape your own destiny with wisdom and foresight as your tools. There are no simple answers here, and every choice reshapes the story. Will you rise as the Sultan's favored confidant, or plot his assassination in the shadows? Will you remain loyal to love in desperate times, or surrender to forbidden desire? Will you stand tall as a fearless adventurer, or heed the whispers of dark gods? The game does not reward reckless indulgence—extreme cruelty breeds extreme hatred, and extreme consequences. Remember well, only those who hold fast to their own code can truly master their fate. As a turn-based resource management game, you'll deploy cards to command allies and assets, complete objectives, and build your power, accumulating wealth, intelligence, and equipment as you go. Recruit allies, expand your influence, and seize control—every run is different, with card order reshaping each playthrough, while both success and failure unlock new allies, gear, and strategies. Multiple endings await, each shaped by the choices you make. Will you seize absolute power, or rise to overthrow a tyrant? Will you retreat into a peaceful life with your beloved, or summon dark forces to bring the world to its knees? Even the same ending can be reached in countless ways, with hidden paths and secrets lying in wait for those bold enough to uncover them. Step forward... and let the game begin.

The game for some reason needs an internet connection, and if you want to keep your full access to the game, it means that you need to bind it to an gmail or Apple ID, unless you want to lose the access you’ve purchased, further more and you’ll need to constantly do this when booting up the game and that might be the reason why they’ve required internet to boot up this single player game. Could they not have simply not made a login system and save all this hassle? Why does it even exist? At least add a restore purchases button, so that people don’t have to buy another license again.

This has been on my steam wishlist since seeing Rarran (YouTube) play it but finding it on mobile has sealed the deal for me. First off, this is a full game, inspired, thoughtful, and deep; challenging to both mind and soul. Let me explain. The Sultan’s game is ultimately a death sentence, one that will “force” your character to face depravity as they carry out the sultan’s twisted game buying themself only weeks of continued life at a time. Some may embrace his game, carrying out this evil free from authority, whilst others would find every way they can, to subvert it, to keep their soul intact and protect the innocent. (it is perhaps even possible to escape his twisted game entirely) [Note: Another review has stated a concern on the ethics of this game and whilst I can appreciate analysis of any media through such critical lenses and agree with the substance of it, I personally disagree with their conclusion. At every chance, the game acknowledges, addresses, and deconstructs any cruelty it depicts and does not encourage it. The player always has choices and they are both warned of the potential immorality of them and there are always consequences.]

Sultan’s Game is mechanically very engaging and addictive, but on a moral and psychological level, I found it deeply uncomfortable. Take the Carnality cards, for example. The sexual encounters they represent take place under an extreme power imbalance: the player is effectively a ruler, while the other person has little meaningful ability to refuse. The card system can make it feel as if the player is absolved of responsibility — “the game made me do it” — while at the same time encouraging the player to enjoy the feeling of absolute power over other people. To progress, players may even start treating certain female characters as more disposable targets for Carnality or Bloodshed. It is not always clear whether the game is criticizing this kind of power fantasy or simply allowing the player to indulge in it. The gendered imagery also bothers me. Carnality and Bloodshed both depict women as the ones being subjected to violence or humiliation, and Carnality even involves two female figures. Meanwhile, the relatively less disturbing cards, Extravagance and Conquest, are represented by men. Are men somehow absent from sexuality and vulnerability? The gender coding feels extremely stereotypical. In the end, the game did not leave me with a sense of peace or meaningful reflection. What lingered instead was the sensation of enjoying power, cruelty, and control over other people. That is exactly what makes the experience unsettling to me.

The game is of good quality. However, the drag‑and‑drop interface is not adapted for mobile devices, making it awkward to operate. Hope this can be optimized soon.

But I did notice two bugs with the current version of the game: 1. Some text gets cut off with iPhone 17 Pro Max 2. Sometimes the music gets super loud randomly.
