A journey of love, danger & hope.
Bury me my Love tells the story of Syrian refugee Nour and her husband Majd, as Nour undertakes a perilous journey to safety in Europe. Winner of the best meaningful play - 14TH IMGA Best Emotional mobile & handheld game - Emotional Games Awards Winner of the Google Play Indie Games contest Bury me, my Love is a Text Messaging Adventure game about Nour, a Syrian migrant trying to find her way to Europe. Her husband Majd, who remains behind in Syria, communicates with Nour through a messaging app, advising her as best he can so that she reaches her destination safely. “Bury me, my love” is a Syrian goodbye phrase that roughly means, “Take care, don’t even think about dying before I do.” This phrase takes on a deeper meaning as Majd says it to his wife, Nour, as she undertakes her perilous journey to reach Europe. A co-production from ARTE, the European cultural network, with The Pixel Hunt and Figs. ***A game in an instant messaging app As Majd, you can communicate with Nour and follow her journey, just as if you were chatting with her via WhatsApp. You will text each other and exchange emojis, pics and selfies, relevant links… *** Multiple narrative routes to discover By reading instant messages and choosing response options, players help Nour overcome the hardships she will encounter. Your choices in Bury me, my Love truly impact on the story, with Nour able to visit 50 different locations and reach 19 potential different endings with widely divergent outcomes. *** Based on real-life events Bury me, my Love is a “reality-inspired game”, a documented fiction that draws inspiration directly from real-world events. The original idea stems from an article written by Le Monde journalist, Lucie Soullier, telling the story of Dana, a young Syrian woman who fled her country and is now living in Germany. This experience may affect the sensitivity of younger people.

Honestly, the concept is fine but the meat of the game was very very boring. The story ended abruptly with so much build up and there is no way to go back to checkpoints to try to explore other branches. Can skip this one.

I play it just to practice my french, they have a really good ui design for change between language. The "real time mechanism" is silly. Seeking asylum, to me, is hard to say without being censored. After war settled, will the immigrants go back home? hard to say huh?
- Marcus Duanius Valentulus
this game is even more important today than when it was made.... Syria may be coming to peaceful terms , but there's so many areas over there that aren't and this story could be the story of millions... Time for us to start learning to lead our feelings with empathy and humanity
- Christin Franklin · v2.0.311
Great storyline, just need an option to reach certain story area instead of restarting everything.
- Adam Antony
Characters that unrelatable in the slightest, a tedious progression system, and worst of all, the general UI of the app is super buggy. Judging by the reviews, it seems these bugs have existed for a long time too. Your time will be wasted if you bother downloading this game.
- MC_ Sea · v2.0.311
such a nice game, in fact it wont feel like a game. it will be very real and deep
- Sri Hari Rajan · v2.0.311
A new idea in a deluge of copycats, based on real events often overlooked, filled with heart and lasts as long as you want. How can one give more stars to humanizing the need for real humane embracing of fellow human beings?
- J Ddd · v2.0.311
Why the mention of Allah
- David Gameiro
gameplay is good but somehow I don't receive any notifications from this game whenever she has a message unless I check and open the game itself is that normal?
- Peralta Angela Nicolle A · v2.0.311
I love the gameplay, the stories, and the characters (although I don't know about how authentic the characterization is). The worst thing about the game is without a doubt having to restart everything from the beginning everytime you reach an ending. I want to explore more of the stories, but having to start over every time is really putting me off.
- Fitria Yuwono · v2.0.310
It's a well made game, and the use of time delay was so clever and powerful. What I missed was any sort of backstory explaining why Nour has set out on this journey. There's a couple of mentions of war, but they are quite shallow and made it difficult to sympathise with her as she turns her nose at staying in central Europe or complains about having to queue to get a free tent. It would have helped to know WHY getting to Germany in particular is so important to her, if Bulgaria is safe.
- Maria Stankiewicz · v2.0.310
Played for a month now, I've collected 6 different endings, amongst them 1 was her death... The voice actor is realky great, that voicemail Nour sent right when she was about to drown will live rent free inside my mind for quite some time... I mean, this game is a really enlightening, gut-wrenching experience that everyone HAVE to try. A masterpiece of human suffering in a state of war. I'll come back to play again after the impact of Nour's death message to me subdued.

Not a game, but an experience. Fear, sadness, desperation. Totally worth it, but I could not play again after achieving a nerve-wracking 'good' ending.
- D. T. C. Wee
Beautiful and powerfully written. Everything I'd hoped it'd be? Yes and beyond even that!
- Alexis Gomillion · v2.0.308
I haven't been emotionally moved by mobile video game before and this one was pretty amazing for multiple reasons. Firstly, it's kind of realistic and the interaction will bring you to tears or joy depending on how you make choices and secondly it gave me a perspective I don't think I could have ever received from just reading news articles or watching debates or any of that... I think the education part is so big and the historical part is so big in this game. I highly recommend playing it
- Alyssia Kangas · v2.0.308
Amazing story-based game that delves into the emotional nature of being a modern civilian refugee. It is very appealing to those with empathy and teaches about certain events during the Syrian Civil War, and information about the Middle East which educates players as they progress.
- David Mills · v2.0.308
I've read an entire article about it and honestly I love the otome of a real life events despite the political agenda that naturally flows with the setting. I decided to take a hand held device probably my family phone since as much as I love skipping it's important with this premise. however, I hope there would be an option for already-read messages to fast forward till next choice.
- Nawal Almarzooqi
I like the story so far, a different text adventure ive tried. Dont buy from amazon's appstore that game glitches. Well worth the 3.49 price without the bugs. Thanks
- lakewolf sunrise · v2.0.307
Beautifully illustrated. Impactful story. Well made interface.
- Laura Heck · v2.0.307
Great story, really enjoying it. Could we please have a free update on Nintendo Switch to speed up events in subsequent playthroughs? I own it on both now, but am a bit of a completionist.
- Wool Puppy · v2.0.307
I am still recovering from this game. The tension is legitimately stressful; moreso if you're playing with real-time updates. The use of real events in the modern world is as humanizing as it is terrifying, so is the texting element. I found myself afraid for Nour like she was a real person in my life and it's been quite profound. The romantic elements involved trying to be supportive from a distance, which was unique and engaging. The educational aspects were spot-on. Truly, a work of art.
- Oliver Em · v2.0.307
This game is incredible. Forever in my heart. I am so sorry for everyone that we're forced to leave their homes
- Anna Pogrebna · v2.0.307
Haven't finished it yet But it's a phenomenal idea
- Sohrab Mosahebi · v2.0.307
Recently I finished it for the second time (The first time I got a bad ending at the beginning). This game is a unique experience, I never thought I'd go through something like this, it feels real, although it has some minor issues, but nothing that could stop me of recommending this game to everyone.
- Shidan · v2.0.172
Lovely
- Adam White · v2.0.307
Nice game. It felt like a normal dialogue between a couple who are in love and help each other and respect each other. Nothing over the top, so it made it real. Got a happy ending first play through. I may play more choices but as others say, it'd be nicer to have a 'Choices Made' map so we can return to choices easier than playing from start all the time.
- Sarra Rohr (Kaedyn) · v2.0.307
it's sucks
- Bhushan Ambilwade · v2.0.172
Screen flickering on Android 8.0.0 making it impossible to play. No way to contact support team or make support ticket. Asking for access on file system, which is not great policy. Storyline is great so far though, will be happy to review the score if bugs are corrected. Edit: got contacted by the developer that made lot of effort to fix it, really appreciated it.
- Pierre-Jean Baraud · v1.0.27
Beautiful game with a wonderful concept
- Corbyn Hurry
Very creative UI adds to the unique storytelling of this game. Its very much trying to tell a specific story through a specific perspective. And in my opinion succeeds at this quite well. Honestly for 3$ you can't go wrong here. Passion and effort was put into this project and it shows.
- Austin Green · v2.0.172
The idea behind the game is good, but the dialogue is very boring most of the time and I wish I could make more decisions. Also the main characters seem immature and sometimes say very unlikable things.
- Tea Baya · v2.0.172
Very immersive story :) loved the real time aspect of it, did not love the first ending, but after reading other reviews, definitely worth doing again for a different ending 😎
- Sarah · v2.0.172
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME! I demand a refund! I tryed open this app to play MANY times, and it will not work! Now I can't get a refund WHAT IS THIS?!
- Ava Black · v2.0.1
given how much time i spend texting my friends, following their life in instant messengers, this is incredibly immersive. when Nour texts me, i'm instantly engaged in finding out what it is, and when she goes afk, i find myself worrying what she's up to. i love following different paths in the narrative, second playthrough is way different from first. The design is simple and beautifully illustrated, and i appreciate learning about real life issues via games.
- Jo · v2.0.172
Basically a story of a guy that would rather run and hide than to fight for his peoples freedom. This guy will text u nonstop complaining about his problems ( as if I dont have my own). Its like dude if you have to fight for your freedom u can't just run away from your problems but u can never tell him this.
- Julius Caesar
Excellent story, very gripping creating high emotional involvement. Plus educational!
- Claudia Gottschalk · v2.0.172
Amazing game, love the storyline. I also love how you can get different endings, speed up the game time, etc. Keep up the good work!!
- v · v2.0.172
This developer makes amazing games, but be warned - this one will make you cry.
- Grace Barrett
Great game, great team. It feels at times like you are just choosing something of little importance and then it turns out to be a major decision. I had to stop and think every action before I made my final decision. I also learned a lot about the topics they explore. I originally installed this on the Switch, but I had some issues running the game properly. After explaining my problem to the support team they were an amazing help and now I'm able to play thanks to their assistance and patience.
- Daisy Arroyo · v2.0.172
This game explores emotional depths that I have never really known before. It's based on Syrian refugees in the midst of a civil war, trying to escape to a better and safer life. Very emotional journey, and every single decision matters greatly! On top of that, they give buyers the option to play it in "real time," allowing heart dropping moments to hit even harder. I highly recommend this game to everyone who's not afraid to reach for the tissues.
- Yo! tuba · v2.0.172
everyone should play this game!
- Andriana Portailler
An amazing experience!
- Luis Hernandez · v2.0.172
Stunning and heartbreaking game.
- A H · v2.0.172
Brilliantly conceptualized
- S
The underlying story concept is touching and I can see the value in the messaging of the game. However, the actual gameplay has a lot to be desired. If you make a mistake you need to start the entire game again. This is utterly boring because you already know everything you need to say to get there. The replay experience is also awkward, if not stupidly designed. For example, if you tell her she forgot her deodorant she will say she already packed it. If you don't she says she forgot it. 🤨
- Micah Wilson · v2.0.172
Awesome game. It really makes you feel that journey, powerless from the standpoint of the husband. I felt annoyed sometimes that all the suggested answers were quite lame but it's part of the story. I played a few times to see the different outcomes and it is really well made.
- Eric Darchis
This...really wasn't that good. I don't like any of the main characters, many conversations were really awkward and I felt like I had no real impact, in the end Nour did something else anyway or the game took the decision from me. I never wanted to go to the location the game ended in for me, but the characters decided to do that own their own. Overall this felt like a good idea in the beginning, but ended up as a drama with stupid teens in the end, taking always the most obviously stupid step.
- Patrick Uven · v2.0.172
This game is desrespect for our suryian brothers escaping from a warzone don't mean you will get into hotels
- Chihab N1 · v2.0.172
Boring, boring game. (If you even call it a game!). Have better chats with my own wife, and that's saying something!
