C64.emu (C64 Emulator)

I can't figure out where to save ROMs, I read the Web pages, tried to figure out settings. I'm lost. Pissed off I spent money on this.

Please support custom ROMs like Jiffy and Dolphin! Great emulator through Vice with plenty of options, but the keyboard implementation is awful. It looks horrid and takes up too much screen space in particular. Apart from QWERTY it's not laid out properly at all, and certain functions like SHIFT+RUNSTOP or even F# keys are a pain, as you flick between two keyboard layouts. Some key combos like STOP+RESTORE simply aren't possible.

The best Android based Commodore emulator, period. All you need to do to get it to work is look at the online help, download the VICE ROMs image zip and do what the docs say..do NOT try to unzip it. Place the zip file in like a downloads directory and point the app to the zip file. This emulator lets you run ANYTHING at full speed on any C= 8bit machine. Even raster interrupts.

the best emulator on android for c64 but needs improvement. I wish there was an option to use a physical keyboard with it. the virtual keyboard is barely functional especially missing keys like cursor keys.

The best of the c64 emulators on Android bar none. Very high comparability and ease of use. I highly recommend it. Saving setup and game to your start menu is the icing on the cake. I wish Joystick port 2 was the default (always changing this) but that's a small gripe.

I can't get it to recognize any files. Not .d64, not .t64, or any other file in Tosec, no matter which engine I pick. I can't set the directory the game files are in, I can't tell it where the system files are, I can't even get it to accept the zip file with the system files in it. No help file, nothing in the github repository to help... this is the lowest score I can give an app that does absolutely nothing it claims?

I would say C64 emu is the best Commodore 64 emulator available. It has a good game compatibility. Link bios and link your roms folder with d64 games inside. Excellent emulator worth the purchase. 5 🌟

A very decent emulator but needs a better virtual keyboard and a status light for the disk drive to see when it's being active. Also a bit buggy like not showing the cartridge image currently inserted

Usually it just stops at "READY_". At the same time other free emulators (RetroArch) work just fine on the same ROM file. Game runs ok only first time. To be able to play again you have to manually delete VSF files and restart.

Useless for C64 programming, due to severely lacking onscreen keyboard: Most of the keys from the original keyboard are missing - including the cursor keys (you're supposed to use gamepad to move cursor around, but you have to toggle between the keyboard and the gamepad), RVS on/off, the color keys, CLR/Home, etc. The onscreen keyboard is simply no good for actually using the C64 for anything other than playing games.

Promising emulator with no support from the author. The emulator requires a zip file to work. But the file is corrupted after download and the emulator always gives an error. At the moment is completely useless. Will change review once I have the chance to use it.

This is one of the better C64 emulators on Play Store just now. Plenty of options for tweaking to get those awkward games running. It would be great to see a more customisable control screen with both joystick and keyboard visible at the same time or a way to have customised buttons onscreen as with the magicDOS app. The keyboard is still pretty abysmal, making some games unplayable, as the keys needed are not present. I could use a BT kboard but it'd be nice to have an OS keyboard.

This is BEST C64 emulator for Android. It's well thought out with a virtual keyboard easily accessed to navigate game loading screens, and the ability to connect a physical keyboard. The touch controls could be better. *Updated to the latest version: 1.5.67 (10/28/2022) and was getting frequent crashes and endless "loading" screens with games that previously had no issues. I changed "System" to "C64 (Cycle Accurate) which fixed the issue.*

Great and fully featured but seems like the save and load from disk features are broken. I can save the file to the disk but then it doesn't find it when I load (maybe I'm doing something wrong?). BT keyboard also locks up frequently when after pressing shift/space bar but if i enter the menu then exit it works fine again. Other than that it's excellent. I use it for C64 programming and I'm having lots of fun. Thank you for your hard work Mr. Broglia

Audio and video are way out of sync, input lag is horrendous and the color palette is putrid and terribly washed out. You're better off lighting 4 dollars on fire and flushing it down the toilet.

I continue to run into issues with this emulator, but I can at least play games with it. Issue #1: does not recognize a real USB keyboard. It comes with a soft keyboard but why would I need that if I have a real keyboard plugged in? Issue#2: fire button is mapped to the spacebar on the soft keyboard even though I changed it in the key mappings. Issue #3: No documentation to be found.
