The puzzles/game reviews/coaching/whatever else you gotta pay for is lowkey a scam but ig they gotta make money somehow. Puzzles are very helpful and help me get better but I get better at a very slow rate because you can only do one per day without paying and paying for chess is crazy

They’ve a consistent pattern of wins and losses. Let’s say you’re about to go from 1400 to 1500. You would advance pretty quickly and then lose multiple games until you’re in low 1400s and then win again and then lose. This pattern continues for about 2 weeks and then you get a settled score of 1500 And then the same pattern repeats.

Sometimes it’s a good app but other times it’s just outrageous. If the bot has only the king left and you have many other players they get a draw if it’s vice verse you lose. It just has it’s moments there is probably better apps.

First and foremost, the game said they’d notify me before my free trial for premium would end, I never got notified (yes i have notifications on) therefore the app charged me for the annual plan for premium membership. Secondly, the game review always tells me i played like a 1250 but my current rating is 500 and i can’t ever go any higher, it feels like im going against pros.

Recently, it appears the tournament section is still experiencing major bugs. When accessing the current daily tournament tab, I have no options to select my tournaments, current tournaments, etc. These drop down menus were available before, but have oddly disappeared. I now have to go through a lengthy, awkward pathway to access and view the tournaments I am currently competing in. Another major issue is the app will not allow me to join tournaments. When I attempt to click the join button, nothing happens. It is not a timeout issue or anything else, and I know this because it won’t even display an error when clicking join. It simply does not work. I love the app and still use it, but seeing as the tournament section has suffered even more issues I have to lower my rating to three stars. Hopefully this can be resolved soon, because this app is still the best overall chess app to use in my honest opinion.

I love chess! Honestly, I might love this game even more. There are many cool features like adding friends, playing against bots, and playing against your coach. I love the game as it is but if you want to make it better my one suggestion is to have an option to play with a black and white board or a gold and silver board because I played normal chess with my friend once and the board was gold and silver. It’s generally pretty good but there is a recurring flaw in that some players have figured out how to trigger an abort when they fall into an imminent losing position. There are routinely many players online so never need to wait more than a few seconds to be matched to an opponent. Advise against enabling chat - there are as many trolls and haters playing chess as on any other social media.

Even sent an email report no response. Edit: 7 reports now. Also if you play bullet it’s broken. You play with one added second after each move but don’t get a full second to even move. Have people who play the mobile app test your patches before you push them. Please god. The back and forward buttons during game review are now atrocious with responsiveness. You still have the move list right above the back and forth buttons so it’s easy to misclick and jump around when trying to advance move by move, then it’s impossible to actually go back to the move you were on because the place to press for each move is way too small to accurately land a finger or thumb. Move list shouldn’t be close enough that you can accidentally click it when trying to go move by move. Individual move buttons should be larger and separated so you can easily click on them, the UI in game review mode hasn’t been touched in ages, even tho you do these constant over iteration updates all the time.

This game is really good, but this game requires Premium to do basically anything. Also, I was playing bullet chess when it started lagging and then it said I abandoned the game. Also, please consider allowing playing more bots without a subscription. Otherwise this would be pay to win basically. Also, I just got Gold like, yesterday and I’m really just here for the puzzles, but do I seriously need to learn the Sicilian Defense? Also, the clock has a little bug where you make a move it delays a tiny bit of your time making you lose. But it still triggers the move.

It’s the chess app. It does chess, and you win or lose based on skill. However, in order to climb, get better, and improve, it forces you to buy the extra stuff. Even with daily progression, there is no other way to review more than one chess game per day. For people who want to improve on chess, be willing to pay more. Further more, when you do delete the app, it tends to guilt trip you, asking if you feel ashamed that you’re deleting the app and quitting chess. I was extremely confused, as no other app has ever shamed me for deleting it. I was deleting for storage, but that’s why I’m not redownloading.

The app is functional and allows you to play on chess.com, which has the largest online playerbase of any chess site. However, there are many small annoying features, especially for free users. Why when you click a link your friend shares to game review does it try to do the Game Review, then if you have used your free one of the day, close it? Why does the record against someone on their profile show in the opposite to the browser (one shows their record against you and the other your record against them)? Most importantly, if i want to self analyze, why do I have to close a big annoying pop up every time, because the Game Review is completely unusable to learn anything in detail?

Hi, I absolutely love this app and have been grinding it the past few weeks, but one thing I’ve noticed about the iPad app in particular is that a lot of features are missing. I can’t copy the PGNs of my games in this iOS app, and whenever I try to go the website on my Chrome browser, it auto-opens the app, so I have to use Safari which is not my default browser. Little things like that make sharing my games a headache on this version. Otherwise incredible app :)

I've been using this app off and on for a while. I like that it's poular enough that I can play many of my friends and family on-line. A couple of recommendations I would make. On occaision, I've come across mistakes in the puzzles or found alternate solutions or transpositions, which are cited as an error made, which is annoying. It would be great if there were a way to submit suggestions to the staff in those instances. It would also be great if one could access the archive for previous puzzles. Occaisionally there are some truly outstanding puzzles that are worthy of bookmarking to review and study. For example, The New York Times has an archive of their puzzles and it's a great resource.

I 100% guarantee, if you use an evaluation engine to play a game to do just enough to win , as in - don’t use the best top engine moves - you will absolutely get away with cheating. Don’t do that 10 games in a row, obviously, and use some common sense. I say that because this is easily provable by anyone and Chess.com are being extremely dishonest about their capabilities in catching cheating. On top of that, it’s becoming apparent to many, if you’re paying attention to user feedback, that bots have entered the game and are playing as humans. Boosting chess.com numbers artificially? Maybe. Hard to prove but you will start to see patterns if you play enough. You can’t expect fair play with their set up. It’s just a cash cow at this point.

find that when I get elevated to a new level, in 1 minute game play, and my rating gets close to the next level (in hundreds for example from 600-700 etc) my opponents become much more skilled. It's apparent that more skilled opponents are given to me by the system. It's very frustrating. For example they may be the same rating in Bullet, but in all other ratings they are 400 to 1000 better than I. Keep in mind this only happens when I’m getting better, and close to crossing into a new hundred level. Of course they dominate and I don't have a chance. And it happens at every single level. Why is the algorithm doing this? I think it is to make me feel like I need help to I join premium for coaching?This must be it? I’ve documented this thoroughly. This process is making chess not fun.

The lack of respect from the app makers to the users is unreal. If they didn't have a monopoly of online chess, then here's three things they would definitely have: 1. Better Pricing 2. Ability to play only premium members (limits cheating, increases integrity of the game) 3. True online match making at your skill level (too often you play the smurf accounts of highly experienced players who like obliterating the players who have integrity) Until their monopoly is disturbed or broken up, none of these common sense solutions will happen.

I really love this app and i enjoy learning, but when im trying to solve the daily puzzle and i misclick the retry button and the board starts moving all on its own and instantly solves the daily puzzle for me, my fun is ruined and i feel awful. It spoils the enjoyment of figuring it out for yourself. Maybe this is less of an issue on their website but i cant stand it. Please PLEASE make it more difficult to ruin the daily puzzle. Make the solution button only give one move at a time, put the button in a harder to press spot, make it require 2 screen taps before it autosolves, anything. All i want to do… is do it on my own.
