Track your prisoners’ stats in style with the Escape the Dark Castle companion app, featuring atmospheric sound and animation that blend with and enhance the tabletop experience. Sitting alongside your character card, the companion app offers the following features: • Track your Prisoner HP Brutal heavyweight shackles represent your prisoners current HP. Press and drag to see the chain-links glow and rattle as you adjust your HP, while a tension building heartbeat increases in speed as you draw closer to death! • Record your Plague Level The Plague menu allows you to keep track of your plague level using tally marks as directed by the game rules. When you pass a Plague Threshold an animation is triggered - automatically adjusting your HP on the shackles. • Manage Companions When Companions enter the game, select them via the Companions drop-down menu, where you can adjust their HP and trigger their special abilities to mirror their in-game actions. • Access Digital Rules and FAQ Via the Settings menu you can access browser-based searchable digital rules and FAQ to help you get quick clarifications during play without hunting through the physical rule book. • Connected Soundtrack The settings menu also has links to the atmospheric ETDC soundtrack on Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp – meaning you can easily play it in the background, combining with the SFX from this app for full immersion into your dark adventure. • Solo or Local Multiplayer You can play a 2-prisoner solo game on one smartphone, or Host a game which up to three other players can Join using their own devices. During hosted games, all player’s prisoner names and HP levels are displayed in real time on each device, and you will phase in and out of game states together as a group for maximum atmospheric connectivity. • Pass the virtual ‘YOU’ token Tap on the YOU icon and a list of your fellow prisoners will be displayed. Choose who to pass the token to and you’ll hear a heavy metallic sound on that players' device as the token lands with them! • Free Integrated Death Book! When your prisoner dies, enter the code of the card which finished you off and the app will display your doom – a contextual death scene to read aloud and bring full narrative closure to the story. The Death Book is normally sold separately for £9.99 but is included and integrated here for free! WARNING - This app contains fast flashing images. solo play only, need multiple copies for group play, advert as soon as you load and the manual is just a link to a web page,

it's a nice, optional app (Health tracker, basically) with decent little animations, however it's strange to pay for an optional app and then be immediately hit with an ad. You're also capped at 2 players before another person needs to buy the app, which seems like a strange punishment. Side note: When you have finished and selected that you have beaten the final boss, you're met with 2 missing images currently, which obviously was quite underwhelming. Please look to fix this!

Would have loved to try, but found out after purchase that EVERY player must purchase not just the host. Unsurprisingly, no one wanted to. Even worse, the app still has ads despite having paid for it which is ridiculous. IMO, app should be free with ads- this would be especially helpful for players who don't own the game and aren't intending on keeping the app downloaded. or give out 4 vouchers for app with the board game- already spent money on this game it sucks to have to spend even more

Great for solo play. You just keep your phone between the characters. It's also helpful with the companions of the expansion and plague tracking. The Death Book is included! You can learn in gruesome detail how you died now.

Loved the app atmosphere, music link and overall design. The only show downside is that you can't track 3-4 players health & plague when playing in person, unless at least 2 of you have purchased the app. It's a lovely add-on to the game that might save you some space the death book, but after playing in-person multiple times, having only a 2 player limitation on the app kind of sucks. But other than that, lovely app with some amazing features.

I got this assuming it could run multiplayer games. You can't without each player running (and paying for) the app. Bit too cash grabby to me. UI looked thematically nice but was hard to navigate. Don't buy this unless you are expecting everyone to buy it or playing by yourself.

Annoying each player needs to pay for it (so close to useless for different groups joining). Visually, looks nice, works well with theme. But without the expansions, it mostly just tracks health and 'You' (which we found a bit buggy). Music, unfortunately, isn't included, merely link to stream, accessible without app anyway (hard luck if you don't pay for one of them! Note: it's also on YT Music). Originally refunded, but noticed death book included, which is a big plus and makes it worth it.

Dissapointed, couldn't run a game for 4 players on one app (each player needs to have a device and buy the app). Annoying, especially if some members don't have a device. Reverted to paper, not a big deal. Tempted to refund, hoping a patch is coming.

Disappointing, no ability to run a multiplayer game off the one device. And making every player pay for it, seems like a bit of a cash grab. Better solution would be for the host app to be paid, and additional players can have a free app that lets them only join games.

Not a super helpful app, you should be able to run the game from one app. You need four apps for four people, which is really just a money play sin e only the game owner gets it for free. Loved the idea, but I am not asking my friends to buy an app to play a game.

The long awaited app is here! It's not too bad considering it's the initial release. For anyone who gets confused like I did, touch and hold your HP and then you can slide it up or down as needed. And you have to be the active character holding the "You" pass to give it to the other character. Otherwise, I'm so glad this finally hit Google Play. Way worth the 2 bucks. Note: This IS a companion app to the physical board game. Just to throw that out to anyone thinking this is the game.
