FGO is a gacha game based on the Fate universe. Unfortunately this is probably my least favorite mobile game ever. The obvious positive about it and the drawing point is the characters, the powers, and being able to collect them and battle with them. But, the gameplay is boring, repetitive, and restrictive. Many of the newer quests make you use a "restricted formation" where you can only use maybe 1, 2, or even none of the servants you have. What is the point of even leveling up your servants?

I really enjoyed the story, but if you're a modern gamer, this game will definitely stress you out. For starters, efficiency is terrible grinding takes forever with no skip, sweep, or auto-clear options available. You also have to manually reselect a support unit (story). Catching up to the main campaign to unlock limited-time events requires an agonizing amount of time. In the end, despite generating massive amounts of revenue, the game fundamentally feels stuck in the past

Gacha hell- Got to literally 323 pulls for the 330 hard pity, then the banner ended. DIDNT EVEN GET A SINGLE 5* CHARACTER IN THOSE PULLS. Pity doesn't even carry over so close to 1000 sq wasted. Wouldn't even consider spending in this game for how expensive sq is, especially when the guarantee for a character is so high. As a player of 8 years and hundreds of hours spent on this game, I really can't stand the outdated gacha system anymore

Keep up the good work! Its enjoyable but as for the gacha(welp) I might fully Np every low tier servants before my Altria Saber's Np😆. Its difficult to pull some servants that i really want to get but im running low saint quartz but atleast i got really good ones like Beast class from the other events, my luck somehow attract beast instead🌝 Still, I still like the game even in the anime, I would watch it all the time and thanks Saber that I watch Fate Stay Night until to playing Fgo😁

My biggest problem with this is farming materials for servants, it takes incredibly long time because drop rate are abysmal and need you to wait for events in the future for months or, 1 year just to comfortably get a bulk of it. The guaranteed farming method isn't available until late game, which by then you probably already maxed your 1 servant from events which hopefully actually good at farming, and you already completed 2/3 of the story which is a lot of time. It's 2026 the game is outdated

Fun to play, the Servants are amazing, and while I was kinda bored at the very start the difficulty actually builds rapidly so you have to stop and work to progress, which is nice. But it also gives me lots of issues. The app lags constantly, and the last couple days I haven't been able to even open it. It gives me a notice about game not launching correctly & maybe clearing the cache will help, but I select it & nope. I even cleared the cache myself, restarted my phone, uninstalled & redownload

Great characters such as my beloved (Barghest) and challenging fights. then you realize youre playing the game with horrid gacha and a predatory amount of monetization. you need 900 of the in-game current for pity. if you get a character before pity unlike in any **SMART** game. your pity doesnt get reset. you just lose pity. I hate the gacha. Im going to give it one last try. I want to clear the whole story.

Gameplay is simple yet complex, easy to pick up and difficult to master. Massive catalogue of servants add variety, unfortunately only about half of them are actually useful. Story is fantastic, with a lot of content. Gacha mechanics and grinding are abysmal. After 4 years, still never have enough materials for all my servants. No auto-play feature to help. Did I mention gacha is abysmal? It's honestly the worst part of this game. Expect constant disappointment. And still no Google account sync.

EDIT: Updated review based on state of game in 2026. I used to be a big fan of this game and I still really love the Fate franchise. However, as time has gone on, I have come to dislike it more and more. The story and gameplay is good, but the gacha system has made things feel terrible. You could dump hundreds of dollars into this game and likely still not get the character you want, even though they are "rate up". Don't even try to get a character if you are F2P, as the odds are against you.

Clear that the devs no longer care about summer units, events, or welfares. Despite calling it a "swimsuit event", we're lucky if the units even get a single swimsuit. Some don't have any at all. Ereshkigal finally got one, and they gave her the most boring one they could. I remember when every ascension was a swimsuit. They couldn't even bother to give us a summer welfare unit either. Most of my enjoyment of this game comes from the summer events/units. Without those, there's no reason to play.

The one gacha where you can actually say the meta doesn't matter (aside from a certain few support characters, but the game allows borrowing off friends and randoms, so there's an element of try before you buy and attempt the gacha). Great story that ties into multiple Type-Moon works, and once you progress decently far into the game and save up for said specific characters (who show up frequently despite being Limited), the game becomes quite free feeling and enjoyable.
