Absolutely insane to need an internet connection to play an entirely offline game. I bought this to play since I would be offline for awhile since it's well not an online game but no I need a connection to play. Why????? licence check?? BS. this is why stuff gets pirated. which I intend to do since I can't do it legitimately. seriously you don't want people pirating but then do stuff like this to encourage it.
- Kane Bickley · v1.2.3
I love final fantasy it's my favorite
- Rowan Covey · v1.2.3
I don't know why all these brats are crying over this game and giving it such low ratings, I think it's a wonderful port! I get it these kids nowadays have never really played final fantasy except for the new age 3D versions, I guess I can understand a young noob not wanting to play a game like this because it's not full 3d console quality graphics hey that's their loss five stars all around my friends, I've been playing this game since Nintendo came out in the '80s
- Franken Stand · v1.2.3
masterpiece of a game, even have a NES copy that I love to display, The Pixel Remasters really sharpened the quality of course, don't my word for it though because I praise FF being my all time favorite franchise collections.
- kidd Havok · v1.2.3
it's me and it's FINAL FANTASY BABY
- Chris Smith · v1.2.3
I love the original game. FYI, if the game isn’t loading, uninstall the game, update your device, then reinstall the game. This is how I got it working again.
- HighRum the Recluse · v1.2.2
Phone reboots remove the game's listing from Google Play, forcing an uninstall & reinstall just to launch it which deletes your save.
- SwimmingLink · v1.2.3
no bestiary menu in-game
- Alisa Trushina · v1.0.3
amazing ans fun game. love the pixel remastered version.
- Carlos Santos · v1.2.3
Not the best port I've played, but very, very good nonetheless. Played completely through with no issues. The balancing upgrades make it shine.
- Matthew Sexton · v1.2.3
great game. no crashes good control. auto save is clutch. loved it
- Kevin McBride · v1.2.3
does not work on Android 17
- Dave Willmz · v1.2.3
I save the game, it says the game is saved. I leave the game and come back later, there is 2 hours missing from my game, including the quick saves, It’s just gone. So I do it again, and again I save, again it says the save is complete, and again I come back and see all my progress is gone.
- fyourstupidnicknamesystem · v1.2.2
true to the OG!
- Primo Flores · v1.2.3
Great Remake!
- Ryan Brown · v1.2.3
The sleep spell is bugged. Enemies still act even if asleep. I miss the silver sword being available in Elfland like the original.
- Calvin Gibson · v1.2.3
All-time great adventure/role playing games!
- Wiley G Yates, Jr. · v1.2.3
So stupidly unbalanced that boss fights are no harder than random encounters. NOT FOR FANS OF THE GAME. COULD NOT FINISH. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. You couldn’t just port the game we all wanted, could you?
- NSGJR · v1.2.2
Not sure why I paid for the first 3 FFS and have to pay again... I already bought this game and decided to play it again but gotta pay more? doesn't make sense
- Boo Bob · v1.2.3
My favorite FF! Although, I recommend the Switch version which includes a better user interface.
- DV ILLUSTRATION
game was great! played smoothly with 0 issues. love the quick save function when you just don't have the time to finish a dungeon. 0 crashes or issues on a 15 hour play through. phone is a moto stylus so nothing high end. a+
- Kenneth Underwood · v1.2.3
I wish it would have stayed the way it was it doesn't have the extra dungeons anymore and the graphics are garbage now should have just ported the psp version
- Nicholas Shields · v1.2.3
I'm giving it a 5 because it's a good port of a game that marked my childhood. Great music and graphics updates, and it's more generous with XP so it's a lot less grindy. That said, FF1 is by no means the best game in the series, and without the grinding... well, there's not much game left. The plot has so many holes that they have to explain what happened in the epilogue, and even then there are a lot of basic questions that never get answered. Still worth my 10 euros.
- Alex Bollinger · v1.2.3
this game is a waste of money for this Version when you got everything maxed out trust me square enix old school mobile version was way better so don't waste your money on this game just to warn y'all. square enix 🔙 in the days when you were square soft the original nes version of this was better then this pixel version no fense.
- Hiram Deleon Jr · v1.2.3
After playing other remakes, I was very reluctant to buy this one. All I wanted was the old, original Final Fantasy. This isn't quote the original, but it's as close as you could ask for. It is still easier- probably because the things that made the original so difficult were bugs... And because of that I can also understand why they wouldn't/couldn't make a pixel remaster duplicate. They can't advertise: "Including ALL the old bugs!" So... you can make it a little harder. Or a little easier and faster, since all of us who play this are adults who can't spend all afternoon grinding wolves in Elfland for just enough money to pay for a couple PUREs after a bad run in with an Asp, but I digress. It is acceptable. The others were not Final Fantasy 1, but this is acceptable. My favorite part: Original Music option! My one request for an update: Original Language and Dialogue option!!!
- Deinocheirus · v1.2.2
This game is a classic for a reason. The story is surprisingly interesting with a cool twist. The combat is classic and fun. The special boosts help you experience the game without the grind Nice for busy people.
- brandosauce · v1.2.2
I have loved every moment of the game and enjoyed the mechanics they added to assist in the difficulty of the older game
- xTACORAPTORx · v1.2.2
The new control over character movement is an improvement over the last IOS version. The lack of a bonus dungeon is a huge disappointment. The 20th anniversary addition was better. It is too bad the will no longer support it. :-(
- Joseph810 · v1.2.2
LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!
- james Lightsey · v1.2.3
Please lower the encounter rate when sailing. I get attacked every 5-7 seconds and it makes exploring monotonous. If I was attacked every 14 seconds then I could actually get somewhere.
- Mr Greg52 · v1.2.2
Great graphics, fantastic soundtrack. The game is modernized enough to feel accessible and old school at the same time. Sometimes it feels nice to have a simple game with simple mechanics, like a tiny adventure in my pocket. Very charming.
- Tosh · v1.2.3
surprisingly good on mobile
- Gary Reniker · v1.2.3
No controller support, something so basic missing from a £10 release.
- Karl Juden
For some reason, on a Blackview phone using Android Go as the OS, the game does not display. The map works, the menu displays, I can build a party, but the game itself (world exploring and battle) does not display. The controls work, but it's playing the game blind. I wish I could resolve it.
- Tom Parks · v1.2.3
Would give it a 5 but I am sad my game randomly crashed, you can't have the game randomly crashing especially when it doesn't have auto save. It sucks losing my progress like this
- Hazza_green_shykarak · v1.2.3
Stuck as soon as game begins
- Orlando Gonzalez · v1.2.3
An issue across all of these remasters. The choppy scrolling hurts my eyes and renders these version unplayable for me. It’s unfortunate, as these have the potential to be the best versions of these games
- clcarrow · v1.2.2
They didn't include any additional content from the Dawn Of Souls edition and still haven't added it even after all this time, with no indication they will. Would not recommend purchasing.
- Matthew Maples · v1.2.3

My Favorite Final Fantasy!
- Frazer Callahan · v1.2.3
Little hard to figure out how the game works, but fun.
- Ender69 · v1.2.2
This game brings back so many childhood memories and I loved playing the PS version even more with the revamped graphics. However, the OS version doesn't have the "Encounters on/off button" that the PS version has and I was just a little disappointed in it. If you'd like to try to include that in your next update, I'd certainly appreciate that. Thanks again.
- DW Myers · v1.2.3
I absolutely love this game. If you liked the old original Nintendo version you are going to love playing this game. The only drawback is you have to have an internet or Wi-Fi connection to log into the game initially. So if you're flying and you don't want to log into airplane Wi-Fi you better start the game before you get on the plane. This is my fourth phone with the game on it and I've only purchased it once. worth every penny. You can replay the game with any character combinations.
- Chris Chart · v1.2.3
I finally beat Warmech. At level 74, with three GMs, and one White Wizard. Warmech still does 350HP partywide per Nuke. Warmech wiped me at level 50, even with all the endgame loot. Happy completing!
- C A · v1.2.2
Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster I bought the first 3 games and when I go to start one of them the game will just go black screen and not run This happens after the title screen. I can't play either game. Running on Android 14.
- Jeffrey Kosse · v1.0.4
I love it! The quality of story is very "outdated" and simple. The characters I play are generic without any back story which is why I take one star away. But that's all I don't like. The Pixel Remaster lets me experience nostalgia at its best while also giving me the option for a newer version. Eg, I love the graphic filter and pixel font but I prefer the remade orchestra music over the 16bit (?) music.
- Akbar · v1.2.2
keeps going to black screen and freezing when random encounters happen, also soft locks you in a room if you quick save
- Kyle Ritchie · v1.2.2
I have purchased several Square Enix titles on iOS. Now a number of them have been placed behind an Apple Arcade paywall, and I have not been reimbursed for them.
- Ikwl94mdnisnofdli · v1.2.2
Have noticed they have finally added Bluetooth controller support. Very happy with this. Should have been there in the first place.
- Dave Ashley · v1.2.2
An excellent time waster. Took me roughly 18 hours of continued gameplay. I encourage you to fight every encounter and grind out some levels. You need to talk to every NPC. They give you storyline direction. Save often, save everything, buy everything, and hoard it all. Check every room. Click everything. When you get back to where it all started, have 99 everything and be as leveled as possible. Beware the final boss(es). Beware all ye who enter.
- Eric Hemm
So that you may know. I am a child of the Nintendo Generation (born 1986 a month or two after the Challenger blew up). I have played so May 8 bit and 16 bit adventures but we always were Zelda fans (Miyamoto be praised) and so I missed the final fantasies. I look forward to enjoying 1-6 (the pure Nintendo products). It feels so much like the real thing but I have the advantage of enjoying it as an adult. It is so much fun it’s like I am again. Thank you for brining it back so faithfully!
- pastoryoda · v1.2.2
Ok so when I bought this game I saw a boost screen and gained level 40 around Astos. I thought, “This is OP” Now I have completed the bestiary and have 21 out of the 24 achievements. Absolutely amazing game! Ps. I play the classics
- FF is good game · v1.2.2
great implementation, looks great, plays well -- but they still haven't fixed the critical hit bug, which messes with the game balance.
- Andrew Gibson · v1.2.2
I bought this version to have something to play while in waiting rooms. I already bought it on the switch 2, but I didn't want to bring a whole switch with me. this is my preferred version. I grew up playing Gameboy and Gameboy advance games, so games with pixel graphics like this just feel more natural to me on a smaller device. even though I've loved the final fantasy series for 15 years and gotten very far into many of the games, this is the first FF game I have defeated the final boss in.
- Tanner Doughnut · v1.2.2

- Lee Black Flames · v1.2.2
THIS IS A SCAM!!! As soon as you get to level 3 the enemies are too strong to defeat and there's nothing you can do about it. you can't go anywhere because you will just run into an enemy and die. Tried starting over. maybe it's a glitch. same thing. guess I just lost 10 bucks...DO NOT BUY!!!
- daniel kernahan · v1.2.2
This was all that was missing, updated to 5 stars! (Please give FF2-FF6 the same treatment!)

This is my third time attempting to do a review for this game going into details about what’s wrong with it. And it keeps ending before I can finish. So I’m gonna enter it little bits at a time and hopefully I’ll get it all in. This proves to me the developers know they made a lazy job with this. So if it doesn’t feel complete check back later. I’ll be sure to explain the problems clearly and easily. Break down: I played the original game so I know it was meant to be VERY hard. The game did not hold your hand in anyway. You did not know which class could use which weapons or armor. Spells had status effects you had to pay attention to. Monsters also may have had status effects or symbols you had to learn. The best was the Black Belt. We’re a player would notice that he would never hit hard however he would hit a lot of times. Figuring out how to get the most punches out of him while also making them the most was part of the fun of this game.

- Michael Speakman · v1.2.1
Just finished Final Fantasy 1 on the Pixel Remaster collection yesterday. A short but great game! This remaster makes me show my deep respect for the 1987 NES original, which I've never played before—a retro game masterpiece I now wish I’d grown up with.
- Sylia Gray · v1.2.1
Took way too long for this but I guess they finally decided to add classic font. Thanks Square, next time just have it there in the first place.
- BuddyBlack96 · v1.2.1
I spent 7 dollars on this game and after uninstalling and troubleshooting there is no music. Thats half the reason i even downloaded this. App support is useless. I want a refund
- L33h4x3r48 · v1.2.0
Every online website says the bestiary is in the “extras” menu. There is no extras menu. Then you can find specific comments to the iOS version that it’s in the “configuration” menu - but it’s not in the configuration menu. Lastly, you can dig up comments that some versions don’t show it, and you need up update - but It’s already up to date. Can anyone see a bestiary? Was it removed in a recent update?

I usually play the original versions of Final Fantasy games (including FF1) so I can have the same experience I remember when I played the games back when they were new. I've avoided purchasing this version of FF1 for years mainly due to the negative reviews. I thought I would be disappointed in it. I finally bought FF1 while it was on sale and I am very happy that I did as the game is much better than the reviews make it sound. I appreciate the quality of life improvements a lot. A couple of big ones: In the original FF1 you have virtually no extra inventory space for weapons and armor and when you target an enemy and it dies your characters do not automatically target the next enemy, you simply lose your turn. These are both fixed in this version. I also appreciate the flexibility of having the option to use the touch screen to interact with menus and I like auto-battle (which just repeats the last command you gave each character). Auto-save and quick-save are also much appreciated for someone playing on their phone. Overall, this is a worthwhile improvement to FF1 and I am enjoying having the game in my pocket so I can slowly re-play it whenever I have a bit of time. Highly recommended.

To be a Final Fantasy game it has lossy drops and the thief is no thief . And how do you switch between classes?
- patricia nelson · v1.1.1
Great graphics and a fun play
- Rand _ · v1.1.1
Thanks for the tremendous work. I see when playing this game. Even the controller feature has been added which is even better! Knowing this I hesitant to ask because of the amount of work being put into the Pixel Remaster series. Could there be cross platform save between consoles? For example id like to move saves between my Nintendo Switch and iPhone from time to time since my switch mainly stays at home. Thanks !
- Lo0neyMike · v1.1.0
Wonderful experience! Please add the extra dungeons like whisperwind cove and lifespring grotto? I'd pay extra, honestly.
- Carson Mitchell
True to its roots and then some. Love the 16bit aesthetic. Sound is great. Although it would be nice if they included an option for the original bgm. That would be cool. Combat is snappy. Love the auto battle feature. If your an og fan like me, you won’t be disappointed.

I do like the tap to move feature and moving diagonally. Seeing your position on the map as you move about is handy, too. Being able to boost your exp or GP up to 4x from each battle is great as is making these increase by 0x if you so choose. Turning off random encounters completely is a nice option. It’s worth noting that the more rare monsters like Tyrannosaur, Basilisk, Ochre Jelly, Iron Golem, etc. seem to appear more frequently. Even Warmech has popped up faster in my play throughs. The tweaks in graphics are just fine, but I really the magic effects—those are a big deal. The music has improved, too. However, I truly enjoyed the bonus dungeons from the old version and am seriously disappointed they are missing from this release. Also, it seems you can’t move more than about 25 paces before a monster encounter. I remember going through an entire floor of a dungeon without an encounter and it feels this new version isn’t as random. I wonder how many random drops are left out as I have been unable to find the Deathbringer sword. Finally, there is no peninsula of power and no way of switching the magic to the mana system. This means you will never be able to cast more than 9 spells for each level. I find myself playing the old version more than this one.

Only reason I didnt give it a 5 is because the font is so smal even on my iphone 15 plus….I aslo noticed that the steam and consol versions have it where you can chnage the font and it looks way better than the default it wouldnt be hard to expand the font width and length to fill in the text boxs but i aint no dev

- Joy Stallard · v1.1.0
We’re still stuck with this horrible font. This is all the more maddening considering this option exists in every other version of this game. Why can’t we change out this awful font??
- Me!!!!!!69 · v1.1.0
I would love to see the pixel remasters get controller support!
- Belthanis · v1.0.4
I have all the previously released versions of the earlier FF games on IOs…these are buggy. The trophies do not trigger on a regular basis. There is no controler support and, The boosts like 4x Gil and exp, the no random battles, and speed boost are all absent from this game despite being the main advertised selling point. This is less playable than the previous versions that I already owned. Total cash grab by Square. The devs put zero effort into the mobile versions. Want my money back.
- Twocrudwdudes · v1.0.4
Doesn't stand the test of time and Ios version is missing the QoL additions in other versions of the remaster.
- Brian4012 · v1.0.4
Just beat the game. Ive played this game a lot of times growing up. There is no end game dungeons like on the Gameboy Advance version. The end game dungeons literally was my favorite part of this game. It was a huge disappointment to find out at the end that it was over instead of doing the dungeons after the game…. The remaster was great other than the fact it was a bit too easy. But the graphics and gameplay was good and auto battle. I wouldn't recommend downloading this. And I probably wont download any of the other pixel remasters after this.
- Dillon244 · v1.0.4
I LOVE the original Final Fantasy games so you can only imagine how happy I was to learn about these new versions. In good faith I bought the whole FF Pixel Remaster bundle. I was immediately upset to see there was no controller support. When I went online to see if an update was pending, I was dismayed to find out that not only has there NOT been an update in ages, but the PS4 and Switch versions have alternate music tracks, no encounter mode, and an EXP boost mode! As a family man with a rather busy schedule, those last two features would have been extremely welcome. I’m unfortunately going to issue request for a refund. Hopefully someday Square will find it in there hearts to make all versions have the same feature set.

- TooLateForTacos · v1.0.4
Game is great. Mobile version would benefit from controller support and classic text feature added in recent console releases. Would change this to a 4 or 5 star if those were implemented. Right now there’s no reason to play the mobile version if you happen to own a switch.
