Frustrating cash grab I've played through this game twice under different accounts, at around Level 40/35 you just grind against undefeatable levels. Navigation is confusing, it wastes your time digging through screens to get rewards. Adverts are LONG! Upgrades are ruinously expensive. Guilds are poorly run and difficult to join. It's a nice concept, but unless you have VERY deep pockets or about five years of spare time, I'd give it a miss.

The game is fun at first, I give them that. It has a lot of potential even with all the wacky "praying to get a lucky card streak". However, my major letdown is the greeeeed they have for money. Yes, there is option to watch ads for extra content, however why everything is locked behind ads and all of them are so long. Like a minute or more each ad. Progression is way too slow. It's a game based on random draws but only gives you one refresh that requires you to watch an ad. The rewards from levels are not enough to actually level up turrets. Most unlocks are behind level 20-30 of a turret but after a week of playing, turrets are only level 6. Lacks basic features of an rng game like more rerolls. Normal games are too slow and you rarely can upgrade a turret to max in a level.

This is a 5 star game with an overpriced option to remove ads and receive other in-game benefits. The game is great! It's not some triple A game with a deep story and next gen graphics, but it's a fun, progression based, quick-mission game to play is short 5 minute burst. For me, it's perfect for when I'm rocking my 4m old to sleep. I've deducted two stars because I'm frustrated that the permanent ad removal option is $50. Compared to other, similar games, this is very high.

VERY Fun but VERY Infuriating

This game has an incredible gameplay loop and is absolutely a blast to play. BUT; there are multiple HUGE issues that impact my enjoyment heavily. First, it’s entirely luck-based. I paid $70 in in-app purchases just to speed up my progress, but the only thing that actually gets me through a hard level is when the game randomly gives me a boost. NOT when I watch an ad, NOT when I pay money, NOT when I do something special. Also, WHY ARE WE STILL USING ENERGY?!?!? Why can’t I just play the game? Why do you feel the need to limit how much of your game I can play at a time? It’s so predatory and evil, forcing me to spend money just to play a game I own. It’s despicable, greedy, and disgusting. All in all, the game itself is amazing. But the luck, the pay to win, and then not even winning when you pay, gets me so absolutely angry I have to walk away from the game for a day before I have an aneurism.

Great and meh at same time

I actually like the game...but it's basically impossible to do things without spending money. You cannot get the full/cool rewards from the first 7 days without spending money. It's literally impossible. I've gotten to level 15 normal and level 10 elite. Not close to beating either, so all I can do is watch video rewards to try and get more lacking resources to upgrade the towers. You can't do anything without spending money or watching videos. Which is sad. Ruins the playability of what could have been an awesome game.

Too Much RNG

The game has too much randomness to be fun. Once you get to the higher levels, you will need specific weapons or specific upgrades to have a chance at winning. Unfortunately, the game’s weapon and upgrade selection is based on random cards each game. Therefore, you will waste time playing games you have no chance of winning just hoping for a chance to get the card you need.

Fun but too RNG focused

Some combos require a level 3 and level 2 tower, yet without paying for no ads it’s extremely rare that it could happen. I’d suggest increasing the odds of a double draw or adding a triple draw in the future. I.e. the guardian charge… it doesn’t make sense to have an entire skill tree dedicated to guardian upgrades yet I rarely see the charge abilities within the game. Just make it dmg, fire rate, crit, and attribute based instead of hopefully getting the charge ability then having to invest in upgrading that in game by ignoring upgrades for the other towers. The grinding system is fun, but there are combos that I haven’t even been able to see in action because it’s so hard to obtain which is a shame because they have interesting effects. It feels as though the full content is locked behind a paywall.

Fun... but what the heck are the cards rng. Very often you will not be given the cards needed to upgrade units, this goes on for many levels in a row. Gets even worse if you keep playing. The more turrents you unlock, the worse the rng odds get. You should be able to unequip turrets you don't use. The chips are often turret specific so you can't have a successful run if you built your gear in a certain way but don't get your cards. Poor game design.

I only watch them to refresh the normal bad choices of cards, after the ad the game goes back to the beginning and reboots without giving the reward AND removing the choices before it crashed. Extremely Grindy

Be prepared to lose a level 50+ times in a row. Improvements are infrequent and so miniscule they will not sway your luck in battle. RNG played a huge role in your potential success as well. If you draw a few wrong cards early on your run is doomed. Would be much better with more meaningful upgrades. But then I guess you wouldn’t have to spend money constantly to win. It looks great and in the rare moments when you feel a bit powerful it feels pretty good too.

Painfully slow without spending

There isn’t what I would say as strategy in the game, but rather luck. And then slow experience, slow cards and upgrades, and face defeats 90% of the time or more. The most recent update of 0.19 introduced multiple nerfs to builds that players had spent their time and money pursuing over multiple months. This is not be first time this has happened in this game. This is primarily a PvE game that does NOT require the type of “competitive balance” PvP games require. These nerfs seem to emulate a PvP style. Instead of expanding player choice by buffing other builds, there only nerfing of exiting builds. This feels like predatory business practices given this greater context. Warning to any new players that are considering spending considerable money on this game. There is a continued pattern of pushing out updates that reverse player progress gained through purchased means in the name of “optimizations” with little context for the “why” it’s needed or how it is “optimized now”. Community messaging on platforms like discord have shown very little transparency from the developers, reenforcing the feeling of predatory business practices.

Can’t get updates right - spenders beware!

I have watched this over and over instead of updates that move the game forward, it’s all cash grab and this last update they just released basically nerfed what people have spent hundreds of dollars to get. They have totally screwed up even their biggest spender base which is pretty bad. The devs don’t seem to listen to feedback, and now they have gone the wrong way and essentially made a meaningful update to people who will pay to win, almost useless now that they have all spent the money and can’t get anything back

Developers don’t care about users

Game tries to push you into spending money for the meta set ups and upgrades just to pull the rug out from under you later with updates that completely nullify those exact metas. Developers consistently ignore user feedback and game gets worse with every update.

Game is fun mostly

Game is fun for the most part. Alllll except Project Ember Vanguard. So many players use cheats to make themselves invisible. Even if you’re double their power, you won’t win. Other than that, the game is fun. If playing against other players was more even, this game would be 5 stars.

I likes this game but it got repetitive

This game is cool and fun but I find it repetitive after a few days of playing. But over all I enjoy the game and it’s good to play when bored or have nothing else to play. For me it’s a last attempt of keeping me entertained. :)

I tried to give you a review within the game

I like all the extras you’ve added, but none of them seem to make a single difference within the game. This is basically space invaders recreated.. at least make a path to victory. Nobody wants to continually lose.

Roguelike, but worse

I know roguelikes are meant to be mostly gambling & grinding, but good lord. This game is literally 0% gameplay, 50% roguelike, and 50% ad-watching. And it’s not even an intriguing roguelike

Cash grab

Typical game where the purpose is to generate revenue from the sale of booster packs that they make nearly required to succeed and enjoy. First round is rewarding then the second is neigh impossible without spending cash for boosts. No reward for skill, just grab cash.

Good but Impossible

I am a big Roguelike player. I play every one I can get my hands on, to at least try it out. I actually REALLY enjoy/like this game. It’s a great Roguelike/Roguelite. HOWEVER (& this is a MAJOR deal), I am STUCK. Once I reached regular Level 10 & Elite Level 5-6…? The game becomes P2W, & is just IMPOSSIBLE to beat. I mean, I have never SEEN a game jump this far, between levels. Uninstalling bc I refuse to put a lot of money into this game, as I just simply do not spend any real amount of money on any MOBILE games. I have GamePass on XBox with plenty of Rogues, on there to play. I don’t NEED this Game like that. Man, fix this difficulty issue or you’ll never get anyone to truly stick it out, in this game. I got to this point fairly quickly, in about 2-3 days of playing. But, over now been at a complete standstill & stuck for a WEEK. I just canNOT get any further in this game. So, it now does in the trash & I’ll never look back. Do not get this game, if you don’t plan on spending at LEAST $30-40 just to be able of truly play it. NO mobile game is worth that. Not a single one.

Do not spend money.

The current events are primarily just cash shops dressed up as events. They are literally pay cash to roll dice and see if you get something useful. No gameplay whatsoever. Worse, for the current “event” which was just “pay cash for Plinko rewards,” a lot of accounts like my own got more from paying than we were supposed to. Since it is an entirely new event and the rewards were not that much better than a previous event, many of us didn’t notice. (Some people apparently exploited this to max their accounts out. I do not know how; I was not one of them. The rewards I got weren’t much better than the last event like this.) The devs responded by resetting our accounts… and keeping the money. $150 in my case. I ONLY spent the money because of the quality of the rewards. I asked to either be refunded the money or have my account restored. They did neither, and instead gave me ~1/8 of what I paid for rather than acknowledging that the mistake was theirs and simply refunding the money. I am #1 in my seed currently and spend on every single event, every week. I am no longer spending, and several other whales I know aren’t either. It’s unfortunate, but the “events” being released are just cash shops for gambling for good rewards. I strongly discourage spending. They are also claiming to have Zerg and Zerg carapaces etc in the game now which is an odd decision since they are not owned by Blizzard, this this does not appear to be legal.

Game doesn’t allow max rewards

The game NEVER allows you to hit the max reward. I like the game, but I’m noticing that unless the max reward is the only option after hitting every option until it’s the only option to get a “chance at the max reward”. Even still the game is designed to give you the worst possible reward after grinding.

Locked paywalls and RNG based gameplay

This game is fun, however I’ve been stuck on level 10 for days. It’s definitely luck based and you have to just hope you get the upgrade you want. I can easily clean level 9 with no damage but the hard jump to level 10 seems intentional and hard on purpose to pay for upgrades. Good bit of content locked behind paywalls.

Another pay to win

Everything is smooth sailing and even pretty fun until level 5 and then it becomes impossible to get through without spending money on the gacha mechanics. I wish they would make a game like this that had proper progression without using predatory micro transactions as a means of achieving levels

Ads way to long

Love the game, it’s very addicting, but the ads are obnoxiously long. Most simply repeat 15 second ads multiple times. I do t mind watching the short ones but multiple 2 minute ads for a game that lasts 5 minutes is ridiculous

Love plus a note

I love this game. This message is for the developers. One thing I would love to see is a system that displays the damage per battle that individual towers do. A report as such at the end of every battle. That would make this game that much better if you incorporated this for strategy. Overall, game is fantastic great job! I also believe more should come from leveling up being it can be stringent. <3
