This game is getting worse every time, most of the updates are stupid and detrimental to the players. I can't believe that the company like Ubisoft can't handle this, please train more for the intern and the people who works for this game, it's a great game and i was satisfied, i no longer feel it. Unplayable

You pretty much can’t play the game anymore. The game won’t ever load and if it does, you won’t be able to do anything, even though you have a good connection. Good luck, trying to play this game without a stable Wi-Fi network not to mention that 90% of the players or bots that are using cheats to inflate the economy. This is not a social game anymore. It was a good game back then, but now it's beyond saving, the servers are absolutely bad. The game's player base are mostly bots, which makes the game completely unplayable especially during events. The economy is cooked because of the inflation created by the bots autofarming, making it hard for new players to catch up. New updates are basically cash grabs made by ubisoft to squeeze out the last bit of life left in the game!

been playing since 2014 and it gets worse and worse each update. ubislop does not care about this game, the servers are HORRIBLE 75% of the time you’re getting disconnected or sent to the main menu and the server delay is awful, you punch things and it takes 5 minutes to break a block. the moderation is horrible, the monetization is awful, the updates ruin the game, they don’t listen to the community at all. this game is riddled with bots and scammers and promoting gambling and nothing is done about it. hackers everywhere too spamming copy paste stuff. game is awful genuine disgrace of a game do NOT waste your time.

I like it

Growtopia allowed me to talk to many people, create friends of mine, learned patience since my crops had to grow, and I had to build and make songs and I had to learn strategies like selling, and how much items were worth. I have gotten so good at this game so many times but the only flaw of getting good is that hackers will get into my account and they will take my stuff that I worked hard for. I know that hackers are not Groot Topia’s fault, but it needs to be put to an end. I have not played Groot Topia in many years due to being hacked, but I’m deciding to install it today to play it just to bring back old memories and hopefully I can get good without getting hacked. I hope Ubisoft takes hacking matter really seriously. Please do and thank you so much for reading this.

A Niche Game

You don’t really pick up growtopia unless you or a friend have already played it before. The game plays more as a complex economy-driven tycoon powered by “world locks”. But it is disguised as a sandbox RPG. There is tons of scamming, hacking, botting, gambling, and all around rule breaking but thats just the nature of growtopia. I started playing this game over 10 years ago when I randomly downloaded it with my friend. I told my cousin about it and we played it all throughout my childhood and learned the ins and outs of growtopia. We made lots of friends. My cousin is dead now and it won’t be the same without him, but some of my friends still play it once in a while. Tldr: I wouldn’t recommend this game because it’s incredibly complex. If you’ve already been playing it, then you probably hold a lot of good memories here.

Unplayable

I played this game for YEARS and just tried to log back in and it’s fully unplayable. Kept logging me out, wouldn’t load my worlds, etc. also, even the last time I logged in it was so confusing to even know which worlds were useful anymore. Back in the day you just went to “buybfg” and could find people to help you with stuff. Now I have no clue which worlds are functional or abandoned or how to even play the game anymore.

I don’t even know

I started playing this game when it first came out. I was so infatuated with it that I would spend days and nights just playing it til my eyes got blurry. This game was amazing until Ubisoft bought this game. Ubisoft manages to screw every game up, and I’m surprised they have good business still. I try to hop on now for nostalgia purposes and can’t even load in because the server is filled with bots. When i do, I feel like I’m the only player in the game. I mean seriously, the worlds that used to be filled have links that are empty or they’re empty themselves. Every world you join is filled with of bots and spam. Ubisoft is the WORST company to have bought this game. I miss Seth and Mike. I miss the old mods when they were actually liked and treated with fame. I know change has to come, but it could’ve went a whole different way. I think I’ve spent over $600 in this game. The fact they don’t do anything about these problems is extremely discouraging and sad. I know the game is dead, but it’s still a game they bought. I really wish they would make it somewhat playable again.

Where do I begin?

Oh Growtopia, what a great game you were when Seth and Hamumu were running it. Ubisoft took over and it has been a treacherous downward spiral ever since. Between the battlepasses, ads, lack of moderation, and so much more. This game was a social masterpiece, I loved meeting players/people from all over the globe adding friends, starting guilds, getting “rich” together and much much more. But sadly that was all taken away by one financial move. I wish it were different, hoping a game similar will come out in the close future because I truly do love the stripped down plot and meaning of this game, it’s just simply put in the wrong hands. Lots of memories on this game and hoping it can be revived or another game hopefully takes its place.

Game is just not good anymore

Used to play back in the day (2015-2018) and I decided to download it again. Long story short, I simply recommend you stray far from this game. There’s a crazy hyperinflation problem, there’s so many bots, not enough normal players, and the worst of all - the servers are literal garbage. The servers are so bad, that I literally cannot play the game all day and the moment I get logged in without being “timed out,” I play only for like 10 min before getting disconnected. The cycle just continues. Anyways, don’t play this game because it’s just horrible and is not the same Growtopia I grew up on.

So disappointed.

This game was phenomenal 10 years ago. Now, to be blunt, it’s trash. I went to worlds that were booming socially 10 years ago, and there’s literally not a single person there now. I only saw people in one trading world, and the prices are outrageous to trade with people. Used to be literally 1/100th of the prices players are charging now, it’s so ridiculous. You can’t make any progress in the game unless you buy currency at this point with your real money, and if you decide to do that, be prepared to go broke. The Carnival event was so fun with people, now it’s overrun with bots like on every other server. But with the Carnival, the bots rig the games. If you play against them, they win instantly because they practically hack the games and cheat. They never lose. There’s ads EVERYWHERE. People are impossible to find that aren’t trying to trade stuff for outrageous prices, the social aspect is pretty much nonexistent. It’s so unbelievably disappointing. I’ve never written a review on a game before, but this one genuinely hurt, I just had to vent. It was my favorite game, I’d spend time and money on it, a LOT of it. Now, I’m gonna delete it instead, and probably never get it back. Would recommend 10 years ago, don’t even wanna talk about it now.

This game got so bad

This game has got so bad. For one, I thought rules were set in place. I was banned for suspicion of breaking one of those rules but was never shown evidence or proof I did those things. They banned me for “3rd party purchases or account selling”. I have proof of receipts of in game purchases, I also have proof my account was swapped emails due to the original being deactivated. This happened years ago for the email swap, and they imply I either bought my account and/or sold/bought in game items for real money? I was stupid to BUY IN GAME GEM STORE PURCHASES, why would I ever go out of my way to purchase in game items with real currency when that option is in the gem store? Main reason for commenting or leaving this review, this game has gotten so bad the player base consist of bots, casino players, and toxic people. I was literally banned under suspicion without proof meanwhile all these accounts still remain in game? This game is so bad now, my friend that hopped on for me showed me everything the game has came to.

Why did you censor the word Jesus? I did a super broadcast and it was blocked out. I can’t enter worlds without leveling up, and every world I join is full of bots or I get insta banned by some auto farmer. Downfall of Growtopia

Growtopia was one of my favorite games ever, coming from a 2014 player. The last time I really enjoyed playing Growtopia was when Seth still owned it, honestly I don’t know what Ubisoft has done to this game, but Seth put it in the wrong hands. Ubisoft does not care about this game nor the community unlike Seth. The game is filled with bots, server lag, etc. Theres so much I can say about this game that I love, but honestly the game turned to literal garbage. It’s not even enjoyable anymore, I reminisce the old days of playing this game often. I wish when Seth sold the game to Ubisoft, he would atleast still be apart of the game, but I guess not.
