For my first 2 months playing this, it has been a blast, from the main rhythm game to minigames, all are fun. But the reason I'm not giving a 5 star... Is optimization for the rhythm game. Despite having the lowest resolution and all skill related live settings are all off/low, the game still lags especially on EXPERT 25+ difficulty and could ruin your Full Combo or even All Perfect runs. Lastly this lag is so often happen in Multi-Live too. I wouldn't mind this too much. Overall a great game

Im more than a month into the game now and honestly I think I'm done with the game for good, while I enjoyed the rhythm game part, the gacha system is extremely predatory, even when spending money I feel like I get barely anything to roll with, so how must the full f2p experience feel. it really is a shame as I'm a big hololive fan but I cannot recommend in good fate with bad the current gacha economy is.

Update to say you don't even register half my hits. They show up as missed or bad. Totally crazy. My tablet works just fine so it's the game. Same complaints most people have: 1) EXTREMELY unoptimized. 2) They barely give you enough gems and the dailies/pass don't give gems unless you pay money (Only got enough for 60 pulls and stuck at the last mission of ch. 2 cuz I only got one 5 star after 60 pulls) 3) No pity system nor do points carry over between banners, so unless you're a whale you're never going to be able to exchange points for the character you want, making this one of the worst gacha systems I've ever played.

I absolutely love Hololive and this game is pretty fun. But when it comes to the gacha it's just too expensive compared to a lot of other gacha out there. The free rewards are trash. I also don't feel like I get much for my money so I won't be spending on this game unless things change for the better. Plus it would be nice if they included more content with graduated holomems as all my true oshis in Hololive have already left the company like Gura, Ame, Fauna, Mumei, Aqua and Shion.

Game is great, minigames need some work

The main rhythm game is fun, but the minigame I truly enjoy is Collect Cooking and High or Low, the rest are either repetitive (Hoppin’ Rope) or feel very one-sided (Mega Circuit, Shadowbound Chase, Pokejan). Mega Circuit and Pokejan in particular feel bad because you lose entry coins for losing, making it tough on newer players.

A Case of Hauntology

This isn’t a bad game per se. The rhythm game is of good quality and the ability to create your own maps is very nice for such a game. And it’s clear a lot of love was put into the hub worlds and minigames. The problem with hololive Dreams is a lack of identity or future. On the identity end, the game really feels like it doesn’t want to be a rhythm game. The gatcha only exists for the rhythm game, but with how long it takes to go through the chapters and the amount and necessity of (for leveling up locations) minigames, it feels like they want you to touch the rhythm game as little as neccessary. And the amount of love put into the minigames just circles around to the question of why this is a rhythm game to begin with. The other problem is that as an official hololive game, not just a fan game, it is bound to the contracts of the vtubers. As such any acknowledgement of a past talent doesnt feel like a loving reminder, but a ghost of what used to be. This is especially heavy when in comparison to who doesn’t appear at all, those whose history is erased given they left before modern graduations allowed the space for cameo work. And you feel this in the available songs. Talents who are no longer with hololive are not noted as singers for certain songs, and their original works dont show up at all. Really the fact that these are real vtubers also messes with the rhythm game aspect in that they cant tell real overarching stories, as these arent characters and more an imagining of real people. I am curious to see what will occur when another vtuber inevitably graduates, or even is terminated. How will this already haunted game face such a reality? Either way unless you really want another rhythm game, this probably isnt worth it.

Incredibly Fun & Cute Rhythm Game

While Holodori might not reinvent the wheel as it comes to touchscreen-based rhythm games, it absolutely nails the existing formula and playing the rhythm game itself is as fun & well-polished as ANY other offering on the market! The real place, aside from the above, that the game shines however is in the art design, character design (I mean it’s Hololive; there’s virtually nothing that even comes close in this regard), and respect for the player’s time invested. I haven’t spent a dime on the game and am generally just as highly ranked as anyone else aside from the biggest “whales” out there. Insanely nice song selection overall, and they are adding new songs so often that you’ll never realistically run out of things to play and do! I strongly recommend this game in the STRONGEST possible terms — prior to me playing Holodori, I’d never even put any notable time into a mobile game ever before. Mobile games generally aren’t my jam, but this game is the ABSOLUTE EXCEPTION. 10/10, and I have no thoughts about slowing down my playtime anytime soon :) Amazing job, Cover Corp and QualiArts 🤯😤

Good except no currency

In terms of a gacha game I’d give this a 2.5/5 stars. Banners don’t last that long and it’s too hard to get the currency to do the gacha. At most I never make it to pity pulls because of the lack of free red gems to pull from the gacha. In terms of free resources to pull, they only give you enough to do a 10-pull on the gacha, after that it’s near impossible to get enough currency to get your favorite idols. Holodori in terms of a rhythm game is 5/5 stars. Also like the many mini games in this app.

As a rhythm game it is fantastic. The charts towards the higher difficulty ends translate well into the beats of the song and vocals. Rest of the game is awful. Premium banners dont have any form of pity carryover. Gems are poorly dispersed across a paid battle pass that makes it so once that is complete there is little point in continuing to play (it refreshes every 45 days seemingly). And it only gives you 5k, which is 2 multies (hard pity is 20 multies. Entire game seems poorly optimized for mobile and makes a number of devices run hot even at lowest settings. If you dont like hololive I say dont bother with this one.

Good, but could be better

I love rhythm games like this, being an avid Bandori player. While this game is fun, and is probably everything a Hololive fan could ever want, it is lacking in a few places. The currency economy in this game is tough to navigate as a free-to-play casual player. With multiple routes to spend IRL money, you really start to feel like Cover and Hololive just want you to spend money instead of playing to have fun. Banners come and go fairly quick, which isn’t new to gacha games, but it’s still overwhelming when you aren’t willing to pony up your credit card and gamble away your savings. Events feel a bit too grindy for casual players too, requiring far more time dedication than other rhythm games in its class. For example, a Bandori event lasts about a week, and within that time, I can play one song a day and get a decent chunk of rewards, along with characters specific to that event. Holodori events last a bit longer, but at the time of writing this, one story chapter of the event requires SIX song plays to unlock. That’s a bit ridiculous for a casual player looking to just enjoy the game at their own pace. TL;DR - Holodori is pretty fun, but feels a bit hostile towards casual and F2P players. Currency economy is not great, almost requiring IRL money in order to participate in Banners. Events require too much effort for so little availability time. Also, I don’t know if it’s just my device performance, but cutscenes seem to be a huge cause of game crashes for me. Feels weird that the one thing that shouldn’t cause crashes is crashing my game constantly.

Fun but buggy

Love being able to play a rhythm game with our favorite talents’ songs (aside from Justice and FLOW GLOW), the mini-games, cute models and the unique interactions throughout the park. However, one issue has been how buggy or laggy multiplayer is, and sometimes all of my life has run out in the first few seconds of a run with how laggy it gets. The only workaround so far is I have to disable live2d and sp skill animations, which is a shame since they are fun visuals to the performance.

So expensive

At the beginning, you get free currency for the gacha relatively fast, with the main story rewarding enough for quite a few pulls. But once you run out of story, (in under 12 hours of gameplay btw) it slows way down. Events that have coveted chase cards only award the diamonds necessary to play gacha after it ends. If you purchase the currency from the app, each gacha pull is costing around $2 each, which is insane when the card you want has a 0.25% (1 in 400) drop rate. Eventually, you will have acquired all of the base cards multiple times, after which they become mostly useless. You basically spend $20 on 10 pulls and get nothing at all out of it. Unless they drop the prices, this game isn’t worth playing.

Pretty fun but events can be dumb

I just play here and there having other things to do. The current event is Ultimate Summer For Me. I didn’t realize they have it basically the whole event ends on the 27th but it’s split into chapters that basically lock in 2 days each. So you have to farm all the points for those short time periods or you can’t get certain items. I didn’t see the “until 8/18 or 19” so I was at 9.8k/10k for the one unique item and there is no way to get that last .2k of currency but you can turn all that currency into common event currency to get currency/materials. They should have it so you can also turn it into the other chapter currencies in case you missed them.

Awful monetization and performance issues

As much I love the holomems and want to support them, I will not support this poorly handled game. It has horrible performance issues that cause severe lag during rhythm gameplay, inexcusable. And there’s no avenue to earn pull currency by simply playing the game regularly, on top of exorbitant pity costs to the tune of over $500 with no carry over between banners. Less than stellar as a gacha

The rhythm portion of the game is fine. But the score being tied to your skins means that if you don’t whale your score can be low even if you perfect a song. And the release rate vastly outpaces the free currency. That’s felt doubly so with less than ideal pull rates and pity that simply vanishes into thin air after a banner concludes. So as a rhythm game this plays fine, but as a gacha this is not it.

The current state of the game doesn’t have any good sources of premium currency for people who want to summon on the event banners. poorly optimised if i'm being totally honest. if I do co-op the start of every single one for about 5 to ten seconds will be filled with lag. even when I managed to get a hold note perfectly at the start it reset my combo for some reason. outside of lives as well, it is still insanely laggy for no apparent reason. This game is so fun and I’m obsessed with it right now. I’m someone who plays project sekai and bang dream and some other rhythm games and the thing I love about this rythmn game is that it’s not *just* a rhythm game. Theres a ton of mini games you can play so there’s always something you can do if you don’t feel like doing the rhythm game part. There are quests and you unlock mini games as you go along but trust me it’s genuinely so fun and worth it. 10/10 honestly.

Game requires you to be rich

They released two of my favorite vtubers, MiComet recently as a single banner. I spent around 5k worth of free gems and got no five star. So i bought $60 worth of gems from their store. 15k gems and not a single 5 star from that banner, let alone one of the TWO characters i wanted. I refuse to play this if i cant get the characters i want with $100. That is just straight up greed by the developers. You are just stealing from hololive fans and it is despicable.

Mega Circuit sucks

Game is great but the Mega Circuit is terrible. Theres no catching up once you fall behind even a little bit. The fix would be to do things Mario Kart style where either people in the back get better power ups or by giving players in the back a temporary speed boost. Otherwise, there’s nothing you can do at all so you might as well quit which is extremely bad for any sort of racing game.

Needs 1 Major Fix

This game has been a lot of fun and up to par with expectations for the most part. HUGE GLARING EXCEPTION: Pokajan is maybe the worst experience I’ve ever had on a mobile game. If someone DCs you’re literally stuck in limbo until you eventually force close the app only to find out you’ve also been penalized for “disruptive behavior”. I wouldn’t care at all and would just not interact with the minigame in any capacity if there weren’t power-adding achievements locked behind the abomination of a game, but no, I’m forced to play this disaster until I get 3 of a kind of each individual in my main squad and hope no one DC’s or ragequits and gets me punished. Until either power-adding pokajan achievements are removed or I finally get my main team’s pokajan achievements, I cannot in good conscience rate this higher than 1 star.

The game itself is good and fun and everything was fine until today when I keep getting "Failed to retrieve data" notice and unable to login to the game over wi-fi and mobile data. Never experienced this with any other rhythm games I've played. It's disappointing. Hope the devs will look into this issue and fix it.

Fun rhythm game with some of my favorite v-tubers and their hit music to vibe to, but it still leaves a bit to be desired. im gonna give this a 2 star because of 3 things 1. its hololive, their songs are fire. so i cant give it 1 star 2. the notes come in quicker than normal, then gradually slows down until you click- or atleast thats what it feels like 3. lets say, comparing this game to bang dream, arcaea, etc. you can see the notes about lets say 5 seconds before it reaches the click point. in holodori, you have 2 seconds. but not ONLY that, you get fps drops, and it seems to be very random.

I can't complete the Mega Circuit mini game to progress in the story mode. The race ends too early. I can only get through 1 lap completely. By the time I get halfway through the 2nd lap, the race ends with a "Time's up". Please extend the amount of time to complete the race. Great rhythm game, I'm a HoloLive tourist with no prior exposure and I still enjoy this as a great rhythm game alone. Do note that chart fundamentals are mostly borrowed from SEGA's Chunithm and ProSeka, which fits just perfectly for me. There's a parkbuilder sidegame and this game comes bundled with some party-style minigames, if you're not much into VSRGs. Worth a shot and even more so if you're a big HoloLive fan. You may need a decent device to run the openworld, though..

I like rhythm games, grew up on games like Project Diva. I've also played couple of games on phones, but for some reason, this one is just not good. It may be the random lags even on a pretty new phone (1+ 13R) or it's input registration or just the game itself, but hitting notes is not working properly and because of it it's not fun. The story is meh, don't care about it because the charm from talents is missing, so what are we left with? Nostalgia and fan service. I'll be dropping the game.

I don't usually play gacha games and the ones I have done in the past ive dropped this one is really fun I really enjoy playing the songs and slowly getting better as I went from just about completing the easy songs to now being able to get full clears on normal and slowly getting better at hard soon I'll be able to complete an expert hopefully. the games play is very easy to pick up and I love the model designs on the open world, my only criticism is I cant play as gigi yet

never underestimate Japanese rhythm games difficulty, it will make you lock in. the gameplay is easy to understand and straight to the point, although some Main story chapters just feel like running around the park seeing cutscenes and suddenly the park changes entirely which... kinda takes away from the progression. the Gacha is alright.

no game is without it's problems at launch. I had sign in issues for the 1st three days but it fixes pretty fast. And they update with patch notes in game. the story is cute and fun. if it isnt your thing there is skip features. it is mostly to help build the theme park they want us all to have fun in so you unlock multiplayer modes and mini games. You will have to do daily character quests to unlock characters that show up for the day if you dont want to spend the money on ch a gotcha. It great

I’m not new to rhythm games but this needs improvements, such as a life recovery skill on some cards and not just score ones. And the notes could be bigger and slides could be less transparent imo. GAME LAGS TOO MUCH!! I am a big fan of music games and of Hololive, but this game has serious mapping problems. I'm starting with normal maps and no matter how I adjust the speed and timing of the buttons they arrive on the tap line without regard to the rhythm of the music. Triplets occur too early or late, long notes are off time... they also need to improve the tap bar area so it doesn't interfere with phone swipe areas. It's a good idea, good music, but terrible execution.

Played normally for days, suddenly failed to retrieve data?

I’ve been seeing a lot of players, mostly those from SEA countries are suddenly hit with error ‘failed to retrieve data’ and I’m one of them. Reinstalling nor turning off WiFi router for 3 minutes did nothing to solve how the game suddenly stopped working when using WiFi. Yes I can use mobile data but it got stuck again when I switched back to WiFi in game. No I don’t have VPN on. I even went to check if the problem would be gone if I use VPN too but it didn’t worked either. I don’t want to keep relying on mobile data since it involved downloading the songs a lot. I don’t want to stop playing since I genuinely had fun with the game to the point I was willing to spend money on it. I hope you can fix this issue as soon as possible.
