I like the game itself but this version is inferior to even the 3ds version in terms of functionality. Every time I open the app and tap to start the game, it says there's a communication error and I have to do it again. I also shouldn't have to restore/redownload my purchases every single time I open the app. Even worse, now I can't log in to retrieve my data from the cloud. Every time the keyboard opens, the login page closes

Worth it. It's well adapted from the console version and it transitions well into the anime Layton Mystery Tanteisha. I enjoy doing the daily puzzle to keep my mind proactive when I have some spare time :)
- Omar Serrano
The side puzzles themselves are decent, but they're not enough to compensate for how much fluff dialogue is between them. Hit me up when there's an option to forego the story and just do the puzzles back to back.
- JB
storyline is so long and boring. way to much description & dialog and few games.
- Flora Rico · v1.0.13
another solid entry in the Layton series. unfortunately the company behind these games are now going fully into GenAI, so I urge you to not spend your money on any of these games. if you REALLY need to play them, buy secondhand or simply look into emulation (it's much easier than you think) and im DEFINITELY saying you should do these all LEGALLY and DEFINITELY NOT using sarcasm to secretly tell you to sail the seven seas for these games
- Nat · v1.0.13
Its a passable layton game that introduces some good QoL fixes to improve user experience. However it also features some awful puzzles that lack coherent design + wording. I appreciate the atmosphere and lore but this is a miss for me.
- Joseph F · v1.0.12
Dont buy. These puzzles are extremely weak compared to the other games. Often times its unclear what the puzzle is asking for. Rather than having an "aha!" moment like in the other games, you often have to guess which interpretation of the question is the correct one when you come up with multiple valid answers. Furthermore, the pacing is terrible. I found myself clicking to just get through dialogue and it still took forever. I'm a patient person & Ive never done this in a Layton game.
- Erika R · v1.0.12
It's Layton! Puzzles! Works well.
- ShilohandJenn Engles · v1.0.12
Too much reading
- Nichole Black · v1.0.12
Maybe I've just got the nostalgia of old Layton games seating my opinion, but this game just didn't live up to any of them. The characters are great and it's full of the same charm as the old games, but it feels like it's too silly. The puzzles were mostly annoying word puzzles and didn't feel satisfying when solved. It feels like it just tried too hard to live up to the shadow of the older games, and it failed.
- Chloe Wesche
Good game, but not great localization. As an American, I was unaccustomed to a lot of expressions and references. I don't remember it being like this in previous Layton games.
- Meir Cynamon · v1.0.12
looks like it would be a fun game if I could get past the point where it asks me to enter a name for the saves when I try to start a new game. after typing in anything, I cannot proceed. hitting enter on the touch screen keyboard or the physical keyboard of my Chromebook does nothing. tapping literally everywhere does nothing except sometimes sending me back to main menu. *sigh*
- Patrick O'Brien · v1.0.12
Terrible game that takes FOREVER to let you just play. Not worth 16 dollars that's for sure
- Danielle · v1.0.12
It takes to long to get to each puzzle.
- Apofisu · v1.0.12
Far too much dialogue (that doesn't add to anything) and not enough gameplay.
- Coralee Wilson
I love the game and you get 4 stars for that but I took away 1 because the about app part said that I have to be online to play this one in the series because it was supposed to have a daily gift thing every day which it doesn't so I don't understand why I can't play it offline once in awhile if you're not going to add daily gifts! That's stupid! The rest of the series is offline after purchase so why can't you make this one the same way?
- Becky Burch · v1.0.12
Everything LEVEL-5 makes is gold. Huge fan of the Layton series, and this is more than worthy of the franchise's title. All the gorgeous and lovely charm brought to you by the brilliant and talented folks over at LEVEL-5. (Now if only we could get the Yo-kai Watch series ported to mobile as well!)
- BuddhaCat Gaming · v1.0.11
All it will do is downloading. No matter how long I let it. It never goes pass downloading g. 20 mins later downloading. Though I just downloaded the game.
- Nicole Pletcher · v1.0.11
Great game need backbone controller support
- Christopher Powell · v1.0.11
I am a big fan of Layton series however this third game has way too long dialogues that doesn't add to storyline and awkward controls that makes the gameplay frustrating.
- Leon Telyaz · v1.0.11
Don't like that you have to keep switching between landscape and portrait modes.
- Robin Vaughn · v1.0.11
OMG... I was so bored with the character interactions that took forEVER that I still have even got into the game before I got do annoyed I decided to give up and install. No thanks.
- Emily2618 · v1.0.11
I love Layton games, but there is too much talking and not enough game.
- BlueStarTX · v1.0.11
It wouldn't let me download the extra game files over a wifi connection because it thought it was a cellphone connection. This is on a wifi only device. Refunded due to Google Play store refusing to download the extra files and Level-5 not just giving us all the files

My Antivirus/Spyware program told me this is a malicious app and blocked me from using it. It did not elaborate or say if other apps from this dev are also malicious or not.
- Jason M · v1.0.11
Unbelievably boring. Requires Wi-Fi to play takes forever to load then crashes. I got tired of listening to dialogue and watching cutscenes that I couldn't skip.
- Linda Houston · v1.0.10
In some ways, you really can feel the loss of the puzzle master. However, the legacy maintains more quality than nearly any other puzzle series, even if it misses the tailored, seemless experience that Tago managed to bring. Sometimes the segues to puzzles are rough or not quite in-lore, some of them are more flashy than they are fun, HOWEVER... If you go in not expecting a Layton game, but a puzzle game, you will not be disappointed. RIP, Akira Tago. Thank you for sharing your puzzles
- Noah “Leprechaun” Everly · v1.0.10
Worth every single penny!
- Morgan Porada · v1.0.10
I spent 20 minutes just trying to get through the boring story to play the game and got tired of clicking.
- Daniel McLaughlin · v1.0.9
It's cute, the puzzles are simpler than the ones in the ports for the original Layton trilogy so its more casual and you can easily go back and find coins and puzzles from each case. Given the amount of dialogue I wish there was more voice acting. 4 stars because one of the minigames keeps crashing the whole thing.
- Andrea Samardzija · v1.0.9
Too much dialog for me, not fun
- Amy V · v1.0.9
Thank you for a great premium game, please conuto support the game with updates and big fixes. Thanks developers !
- Cristian S
I've played all the professor layton games love them
- Rhonda peeler · v1.0.7
Fun and long game
- Eva McMullen · v1.0.6
Buggy. On Samsung galaxy purchased both doc sets, but afterwards game crashed on load, could not play.Resolved problem by clearing data, losing 14 hours of saved game. Could not restore from cloud. In game contact button takes me to terms of use page. Level 5 id offers no support. Very unsatisfactory experience.
- Brian Pendell · v1.0.6
Kat is the best
- Gabriel Castejon · v1.0.6
The game is almost there. Good music and charm, but the puzzles are bland and more often poorly worded rather than clever. Small graphical glitches (like not fitting properly on my screen) are annoying but not game breaking. For a game that is enjoyed on the phone it is annoying that it takes so long to get back into the game if it's closed. It would make more sense to quickload directly back into the action. Often by the time I've loaded the game I no longer have thosw few seconds to fill.
- Jamie Masculine (Jamie) · v1.0.6
It's a fun game. I liked it. I wish we got more tie in with the other games and some of the puzzles got on my nerves but otherwise it was great.
- Megan S.
A great way to get into the Layton-verse!
- Grant Lian · v1.0.6
I put my game on a new phone all my saved data is gone paid for it too not fair at all.
- laurie savala · v1.0.6
Great puzzles and cute story
- A Google user · v1.0.6
I am not able to play this game on my chromebook. I want a refund. It just immediately closes when I try to open it
- A Google user
The story holds up as a layton game but the puzzles fall flat.
- A Google user · v1.0.0
Cool game to play without wifi/data, confused where Layton went but still cool.
- A Google user · v1.0.6
I can't play this game because it says my phone is rooted or modified in some way. I have an unrooted, unmodified Asus Zenfone 3 Laser. The worst part is that I tried to contact the developer for a refund and I haven't received a reply. Stay away from this game. Edit the developer never replied to my message, but I discovered the game works now.
- A Google user · v1.0.6
I love the Layton series and Katrielle is a brilliant heroine, quite full of spunk and humour, it's impossible not to love her. Yet on the other hand, when it comes to lost server data not appearing (even if data was successfully/completely saved to the server) is frustrating if anything.
- A Google user · v1.0.6
perfect bite sized Layton game. The full length ones are perfect for consoles, but the short form mysteries work better on mobile.
- A Google user · v1.0.6
I love the game but I can't bring myself to rate it more than 3 stara due to excessive crashing. Literally every minute or so it crashes and I have to save every time I manage to talk to a character to proceed with the story, it's very frustrating. price wise it isn't so much of a "great deal" either because the game doesn't come complete. There are puzzles in the DLC section that come with the outfits, and total to more than the game itself.
- A Google user · v1.0.5
The game has nice graphics and interesting storyline, however it wasn't for me I guess. I lost interest after completing two chapters and I was wondering if I could get a refund.
- A Google user · v1.0.6
I loved the puzzles and stuff. The episodic nature of the episodes where cool. Just wished there was more and that the cases were a bit more serious
