With over 1 million copies of the series sold on PC, the ultimate dungeon crawling RPG is now available on iOS! 5/5 "Simply put, there’s not a better RPG on the App Store right now." - Pocket Tactics 5/5 "The perfect blend of modern action and classic dungeoneering." - TouchArcade Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart but a modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exiling them to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to their captors, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations long perished now. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level. The game brings back the oldschool challenge with highly tactical real-time combat and grid-based movement, devious hidden switches and secrets as well as deadly traps and horrible monsters. Legend of Grimrock puts an emphasis on puzzles and exploration and the wits and perception of the player are more important tools than even the sharpest of swords could be. And if you are a hardened dungeon crawling veteran and you crave an extra challenge, you can arm yourself with a stack of grid paper and turn on the Oldschool Mode which disables the luxury of the automap! Are you ready to venture forth and unravel the mysteries of Mount Grimrock? - Explore a vast network of ancient tunnels, discover secrets and find a way to survive in the perilous dungeons of Mount Grimrock. - Cast spells with runes, craft potions with herbs and fight murderous monsters with a wide variety of weaponry. - Create a party of four characters and customize them with different races, classes, skills and traits. - Pure blooded dungeon crawling game with grid-based movement and thousands of squares riddled with hidden switches, pressure plates, sliding walls, floating crystals, forgotten altars, trapdoors and more. - Experience a real labour of love, created by passionate game industry veterans. A spectacular big screen experience, now on your iPad! The game works on iPhone 4 but iPhone 5 or a newer model is recommended to fully enjoy the Grimrock experience.

A fairly hardcore “blobber” rpg dungeon crawler. The monsters are scary, the puzzles are puzzling, and many of the magical artifacts feel like artifacts, both being harder to obtain and giving you an advantage over more mundane items that are easy to acquire. This is pretty much exactly what I was looking for on the appstore, and I hope there is another similar game on here.

I’ve been playing LOG since it first came out. Once I go through the entire game, I put it aside for a few years, then come back and play it all over again. I’m coming up on my 66th birthday, having played D&D using graph paper and very ordinary excited die starting when I was 17 in the 1970s. My one frustration with this game is realizing that the puzzles that rely on speed and the ability to slide back-and-forth are almost beyond my ability now. Currently, I’m stuck begging my 23-year-old youngest to puhleze help me out here. The graphics are solid, the limited number of species and archetypes within the party are pretty much in keeping with the origins of the genre. There are a lot of different types of enemies and a lot of really confusing and challenging puzzles. My only suggestion to those who are new to LOG is save *a lot*, hoard your potions as much as possible (even if it means reloading the game), enjoy the escargot and, have fun by not racing through to the end.

Great game needs controller support.
- ScottSFX · v1.1.3
A classic but sadly very hard to play on modern phones with the small screen space. Doesn’t seem to be any chance of an update at this point.
- F.E.A.R.fan17 · v1.1.3
If you played the classic Dungeon Master on an Atari ST or Commodore Amiga then you will love this and be right at home. This is essentially the exact same game type. If, however, you are looking for a modern first person RPG, or aren’t really into retro gaming, then there’s a chance you will hate this game. The reviews here all seem to mostly be in those two camps. Dungeon Master was revolutionary for its time and this brings back those good feels. I’m stoked a company is doing this kind of thing. Thanks for the updated memories, Dev Team!
- The Galactican · v1.1.3
Amazing game! Incredible level designs, fun, rewarding retro style RPG.
- Darren Ivory · v1.1.3
So, to start out with, I love this game. Absolutely phenomenal gameplay and graphics, and it all runs smoothly. I love the game and have for years now. However, back when I played on an iPad when it first came out, I remember unlocking Toorum mode. This elevated the game to a whole new level. It was similar but so different, and felt like a whole new game. So, when I recently started playing again, I was excited to unlock Toorum mode. I found the secret that unlocks it, held Toorums Remains up to the crystal of life, and….. nothing. It doesn’t work on an iphone. I can’t find any way to solve this problem and it was really disappointing that it hasn’t been fixed yet (I found a post from 2015 with the same problem). I know it worked at some point, so I hope it’s just a bug that could be fixed fairly easily, but I am very sad that my favorite mobile game was missing my favorite game mechanic.

Best dungeon crawler game in the App Store is this one. I only wish they would have legend of Grimrock 2 available in the App Store as well almost human is an awesome game developer
- Shain Hurd · v1.1.3
Awesome game, just like the old snes dungeon masters. Please put legends of Grimrock 2 in app form soon.
- ccm12384 · v1.1.3
This game is great for those who love to be surprised by every turn and want to use their brain. I highly suggest it!
- micahd83 · v1.1.3
This is still the best iPad game as of 2022. Just wish they would release the sequel. I love old RPGs, and this is actually superior to my beloved Eye of the Beholder series I played in the 90s.
- N2theGruv · v1.1.3
Pretty much said it in the title! Old style grid based dungeon crawl perfect for this old fella
- candmeat · v1.1.3
Legend if Grimrock takes inspiration from classic dungeon crawlers like Dungeon Master and Eye of the Beholder. The game looks and sounds great, but the gameplay ends up being frustrating, especially on iPad. Instead of innovating on these older games, Grimrock keeps the hectic real-time combat of its predecessors. Combat soon becomes a move-hit-move-hit dance routine whenever you encounter an enemy. The over reliance on timed puzzles also exposes the frustration with controls - it’s just plain difficult trying to tap a bunch of different buttons to move, flip a switch, attack an enemy, and cast a spell all at once. If you must play it, buy this on PC instead.
- TrappedGiraffe · v1.1.3
Third review…. Almost a good job … I’m not sure how fun it is to look up on the internet every other room’s puzzle or where to go and what to do… I made it to level five.. besides the utterly dark landscape, having to look up every step of the way… the monsters all of a sudden become impossible to beat, give me a break! A dungeon crawler should be fun, not this silly nonsense…
- 6tvrfrcybuhugrdef5hg · v1.1.3
I played this game on pc. I was super excited to see it on IOS. It plays amazing, takes me back to my childhood playing PnP games. I wish they would release the follow up games as well.
- Tomar72 · v1.1.3
I was enjoying this game on my iPad, util level 5, Chamber of Pits. This room requires you to execute a perfectly timed sequence of 16 or so moves and jumps. This one room is notoriously hard on a desktop computer, but it's broken on the iPad. The iPad movement controls are simply not precise enough to get through this room. Between the lag, and the touch control inaccuracies, the room is impassable; which means the level is impassable, which means game over. Life is too short to spend hours in one room doing the same finger dance hundreds of times in level 5 of what is supposed to be a 13 level dungeon crawler. L.O.G. on iPad at least needs a patch to slow down these dexterity/choreography tests. The devs could make it optional, for those masochists with tiny baby fingers playing on the fastest, newest devices.
- alive@least · v1.1.3
It is better a lot of dugón games I, have played
- jghghgf · v1.1.3
This is a puzzle game. It is OK in that regards, but it is definitely not an RPG. The encounters, items and progressions are spoon fed to you and you can only get to the next ones by solving the current puzzle. I wanted to play an RPG so I am disappointed with the game. I made it to level 4 and have now deleted the game. By level 4 the puzzles are not very interesting or unique. They make you go through the nearly infinite combinations of possibilities in order to solve the current puzzle. If you enjoy beating your head against your phone with no purpose or real progression of your characters, this game is for you!
- Galerwen · v1.1.3
I absolutely loved this game! It has a great mix of combat and puzzles, along with a boat load of secrets to discover! It’s definitely not the easiest game, so I would recommend casual players play on Easy, but even then, it’s a ton of fun! I would love to see the second game come to mobile at some point, because having played it, I can say it’s even better than the first!
- Frogmood · v1.1.3
Good overall, glitchy on IOS. Playing on IPhone 8+, and Tomes found in game, do not have any effect on party members!
- BoomBoomOutGoTheLights · v1.1.3
It’s an amazing game but the fact that you are so easily able to soft lock yourself in some of the puzzles which ends up making it so you no longer can progress in the game say if you DIDN'T HAVE AN ARROW FOR A PUZZLE AFTER PLAYING FOR 8 HOURS AND WERE LOCKED AWAY FROM SEARCHING PREVIOUS FLOORS...It’s just really silly UPDATE: IM JUST DUMB AND HAD AN ARROW HIDDEN AWAY IN A SMALL CREVICE I COULDN'T FIND, THIS GAME IS ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD
- ratsarecool · v1.1.3
Absolutely a dream of a rpg dungeon crawler.
- iplumb · v1.1.3
Well this is not a pay to win mindless mobile game. This is a port of an insanely good pc dungeon crawler. Graphics are rich, no lag, difficult and challenging. Not for the casual gamer, but a ton of fun. Best dungeon crawler I could find.
- LiQuiD1122 · v1.1.3
I had originally owned this for PC, but after playing it on my IPhone/IPad the game was so much more enjoyable for me; this game is perfect with a touch screen. I hope they eventually port the sequel onto IOS or the Nintendo Switch.
- Somalyxx · v1.1.3
This one is the one all others are compared to. I kid you not, play this for a while and you’ll want more. Still love this and play it years after release.
- Timmat · v1.1.3
Play for 2h and I love it . I’m in lvl 2 (I spend a little time for my party creation )and so far it is worth it
- sahan foraty · v1.1.3
This is by far the best dungeon crawler on the App Store. Some reviews say it’s too hard for casual players and I would say they are correct. But this is why it’s great. If you love old school grid-based dungeon crawling with modern graphics and puzzles look no further! Will you have to look up help for some puzzles or battles, probably, but why is that a bad thing? Newer dungeon crawlers hold your hand too much. Legend of Grimrock won’t. Bask in the challenge Grimrockers!
- Ndali · v1.1.3
Challenging puzzles and battles. All around awesomeness for any lover of RPGs. Please make more...........
- Impaled sting · v1.1.3
Great job! I’ve played LoG 1 & 2non Mac for a few years. Solid port to iOS. And yes, the game is challenging.
- Cshriner · v1.1.3
Outstanding game. Thank you for transcending the normal experience of iOS gaming. Please release LOG2!
- ET1123581321 · v1.1.3
If you’re used to playing games where being the right level means that you’ll win every battle, then this game is not for you. You can’t tap your way to victory, but if you are clever, you’ll be rewarded with an awesome game filled with challenges, and great puzzles. This is an exploration and strategy game where you have to earn every scrap of power you get. Every step is fraught with the possibility of danger, and you have to think long term as you spec your characters, because the wrong level of magic is useless most of the time. I really like the option to play as a bug too. Very fun and immersive.
- Aztec crow · v1.1.3
Great game. ETA part 2 for iOS? Please? 😁
- Tx_Hobbes · v1.1.3
Love the game! I recommend to play it on the hard level of difficulty. Amazing puzzles, interesting fights.
- Vdvdmm · v1.1.3
True RPGs are incredibly rare on the App Store. This is one of them.
- seancassidy999 · v1.1.3
This game is really intense. If you don't auto create your party you have to know what you are doing. Level 4 was already super hard even on easy mode. Level 1 is like elementary school Level 2 is like high school Level 3 is like community college I've played for 10 hours with a walk through and am only 1/3 the way through. The game is really complex. Need to feed your party. Party can only carry certain amount of weight. Party gets many different symptoms. Cool thing is that Dungeon walls change every few levels.
- Gorzecho · v1.1.3
Just read the top review that this game was too hard for casual gamers... this game is old school awesomeness and while I haven’t beaten it yet it’s freaking amazing. You have to use brains and tactics and not button mashing to win which I think younger gamers hate.
- Phil Laboon · v1.1.3
If you are into the kind of game where you’ll progress to level 5 only to run out of food and have to start over without any assurance that you’ll do any better next time because there is literally about 5% of the food you need available from the dungeon, then maybe this is for you. Otherwise it’s tedious and boring!
- goatschnauzzer · v1.1.3
Good
- MongaJT · v1.1.3
First I thought i find the best game. I was wrong. Don’t waste your time. I played on easy and after the 3rd level it became very hard. I lost interest. Giant mushrooms, never wanna die, it takes long time to kill them and after a tons of soldiers and double arrow guys with poisoned arrows. Im not saying it’s impossible to make this level but no more adventure at this point only endless fights. I feel like its a waste of time. Other part of this level has a lot of slime. It took me half day to figure it out how to kill them. I just don’t care anymore. My interest went from 100-0. Even its on easy setting its too hard. I started the whole thing over from the first level, because at first i feed them too much I was out of food so fast. I Feel like they created a great game but they don’t test it enough. Next time. Not worth the money. Don’t believe for the 5 star reviews, probably they played the first level only. The first 3 levels are 5 star and then 0. So disappointed.
- Gavii2000 · v1.1.3
Played on normal because it said suitable for most players and I wanted some challenge. By level two, the monsters were killing entire party with a couple hits. It went from zero to ninety and I was still learning how to play! Tutorial doesn’t really get in detail on spell casting with mages and there is who separate menu for selecting spells. Also, really easy to pull up character menu in middle of fight instead of selecting fight icon. I looked up tips and everyone said you had to side fight monsters in open spaces. Not easy to do on iPhone with buttons that pull up player detail screens in middle of fight. I am not a hard core gamer but thought an RGP game could be fun. Characters are too weak to take on deadly monsters and if you don’t know how to run and fight on bad controls, you are done. Do not buy this game unless you are experienced gamer really familiar with strategies required in maze fighting. Shame, I did like first level, but after twenty plus tries, I give up. Not something for a casual gamer just wanting to build characters to match level challenges. I looked up other reviews and people were saying Easy level gets you a little more easier play but not for long and monsters will still be super hard on higher levels. I won’t find out because I am taking it off my phone before I throw it against the wall.
- debbierl · v1.1.3
Finally got around to buying and playing thanks to my new tablet. Fabulous game. Looks awesome on the iPad.
- Rickzilla · v1.1.3
In the original windows version you could hold on to the eye stones, but in the Mac version you can not take the eyes stones back to use them as you go forward.

If you want a challenging RPG full of strategy, puzzles and fantastic graphics -- this is for you.
- Mp1827379229 · v1.1.3
Great old school dungeon crawl. Could use better balance in character options, as there are some serious ways to screw up your character but generally super fun and engaging.
- jbray1982 · v1.1.3
A great throwback to older games with a modern twist. Love the puzzles that are laced through the gameplay.
- Chakram5 · v1.1.3
in a graph dungeon, guide 4 characters through dangerous encounters and puzzles. some of the ways out of levels (puzzles) require patience but they're not nonsense or trivial, especially if you decipher the clues carved into the rocky walls. characters are unique with stats skills & gear that change as you like just like pen-on-paper. if you're fed up with bad games and have ever liked anything about pnp roleplay &or dungeon crawling (even action rpg like diablo or torchlight 2) delete all the junk with IAP & no heart off your phone and play Legend of Grimrock! i couldn't recommend it more highly if you're someone looking for a fulfilling meaningful & challenging-but-never-stupidly-so mobile gaming experience.
