About
Wake up with chess. MateWake is the alarm clock that only goes quiet when you solve a chess puzzle. Find the checkmate, stop the ring, and start the day with your brain already moving. HOW IT WORKS A real iPhone system alarm rings — loud, even in silent mode. Instead of a snooze reflex, you get a position: mate in 1, 2, 3, or 4. Play the winning moves and the morning is yours. CHOOSE YOUR CHALLENGE Gentle — mate in 1. Quick and kind. Normal — mate in 2. The perfect morning puzzle. Focused — mate in 2–3. A sharper start. Hardcore — mate in 4. Serious calculation. Or build a custom mix. Change it whenever your mornings change. KIND WHEN YOU'RE STUCK Half-asleep and blanking? Ask for a hint, watch the mate and replay it yourself, or step down to an easier puzzle. Either way, you still finish on a winning move. MADE FOR SLEEPY MORNINGS 2,050 curated checkmate puzzles, stored on your iPhone — works fully offline Five original wake-up melodies Snooze your way: no snooze, one 9-minute grace period, or earn each snooze with a puzzle Snooze countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island Streaks and solve-time stats to watch yourself sharpen Beautiful in light and dark mode HONEST AND FREE No ads. No subscriptions. No account. No tracking — MateWake collects nothing, and everything stays on your device. A note from the maker: I'm Alessio, a chess player who wanted the first decision of the day to be a good one. MateWake is my small answer. If it earns a place in your morning, I'd love to hear about it. One honest caveat: MateWake relies on iOS to ring and can't wake a phone that's powered off or out of battery. For anything you truly can't miss, keep a backup alarm. Puzzles derived from the Lichess Puzzle Database, released under CC0. Requires iOS 26 or later.
