Overwinter Survival is a card-based survival game in which you are stranded on the glaciers of Greenland. The cold and loneliness ensnare you after your plane breaks down for an unknown reason, leaving you crashed on Greenland's glaciers and seeking shelter at a nearby cabin. Now you must hunt, craft tools and items, and keep your stove fueled to survive in the cold. In Overwinter Survival, you must use the cards you're dealt to stay alive. You can only use one card per round. With Lady Luck at the helm, no two journeys will be the same. Fish in the glaciers, hunt with your spear and craft an axe at your workshop to become a lumberjack. To get out of this frozen hell and see your family once again, you must stay alive and repair your plane. Experience a unique journey each time you play with randomly generated card decks and test your survival skills while pushing your luck amidst the frozen glaciers.

There is so much potential for this game to be great but It’s frustrating because the three options are often useless and the only way to keep going is if you have enough premium currency. This feels extra frustrating because it is not free to download. After enough tries, the game feels stale and burnout sets in fast. It honestly took me less than an hour to become too jaded to continue. Hopefully they will balance it in some way so it feels like you are progressing even if you die.

This game is very well made. Seems simple but it’s not. It’s very addictive and you want to get better. I made it 169 days without a dog and I was down to four life hearts. I got a savior card which holds your lives overnight but it bugged out and took them all anyways. And there was NO poison or ailment of any kind. That was a major error and let down. Also another bug I have run into, less of a problem of course but still relevant is when you try to use the fire card and you have enough wood but it says you don’t. Update - I still haven’t beat it but it hasn’t bugged out on me at all in a very long time, so props for that. Thanks

I suppose my first mistake would’ve been not checking the last time this game was touched by developers. There is a bug when trying to light or fan the fire with the second furnace, where it requires 7 materials, and when I have 8/9 wood it tells me I don’t have enough. This is the kind of thing that screws you over, how can you expect a player to invest a few hours into the game just to get screwed over from not being able to light the fire. Check your game and fix the issues if you’re going to charge money for it.

Why am I forced to use certain cards when I don’t have the tool the card needs? Why can’t I select from different cards? And then the day just ends? I just paid $0.99 to be irritated and have a game that feels unplayable.

It’s not a difficult game, it’s a frustrating game with some glaring bugs and issues that make it a chore to play. I have it a shot thinking others must have a skill issue, but no, this game simply is bad.

Purchased the game and loved the fact it was rng survival…. That ended quickly as you have to have a tool bench to make tools to build your fire or upgrade your cabin. I’ve been playing for about 15 games and have never seen this card once….. if it’s detrimental to have this to survive why is it so rare of a card? It’s unplayable at this point and I will request my money back. Not worth the dollar spent.

Good concept, terrible game. Could be fun if you only had so many moves per day, but the “cards” your dealt are illogical. If I need food that is going to be my priority. If I need wood that is going to be my priority. I’m not just going to do nothing because I don’t have the tools for it yet. Awful. Don’t waste your time.

I made it to 153 days once, then died because the stove broke and the option to repair it never came up. Nor did the option to repair my tools! I just had to sit there with a big stockpile of supplies while my food supplies dwindled and everything broke down…plenty of useless to do list and meditation cards though. The review on limited player agency hits the nail on the head…which you won’t be able to do because your options are so limited. Feels unfinished.
