Connection error, random Japanese error, random error that had no text, got in once and I couldn’t close the events pop up so had to restart, now it just won’t open at all.

Still a MegaTen Game

Been a fan of MegaTen games since Nocturne. Above all, I love the OST and steady drip of new designs for all the figures of myth. As for gameplay, it’s the classic formula - until you get to the higher ranks in competitive play. The usual considerations for damage resistance and weakness becomes moot as all the meta-characters have pierce, swapping demons mid-fight isn’t a function, and the innate abilities that made weaker demons viable in SMTV’s recent remake limit the scope of effective team builds. Aside from the sweaty ranked matches, the game is fun and offers a story that mainline SMT fans will enjoy and offers plenty of free resources to help get new players up to speed - you’re only ever a few pulls away from a good team anyway and your odds are as good as anyone else’s with that. Not to mention you’ll be bankrolling SMT6. Not a bad deal.

Game is unplayable

New events force “cuts scenes” with no SKIP option block the screen when you boot up the app. 3 minutes of button (screen) mashing to speed it up and they’re STILL TALKING?! You want players to spend money but won’t allow them to play! #fail

Decent but nothing like the original

The game is decent for what it is but when compared to the older pc game that got shutdown it is a let down. There is no real community or customization. In the pc version it felt like the demons you trained and worked with were companions like pokemon. The social factor was better too with customized outfits, marketplace, and common third areas

Customer service is the worst and only wants to make you spend more money

I have attempted on multiple occasions to recover my original account which i have have answered the questions that pertain to identifying a player to their customer service but the customer service want you to answer questions that will not help identify who you are for example if you last played this game say 2020 or 2021 and we in 2025 bout to be 2026 why would you remember your last login date, your defense team from years ago, all of your demons, a transfer ID and an account ID from years ago. Then the kicker what actually would help identify player they disabled with meta but have instruction on how to recover the ID that would identify you as the user of the game account. Instead they rather you answer the questions about a defense team, last login date, transfer id, account id, O and let me not forget i even gave a screenshot depicting my player name, demons i had at the time. Which they even said my player name is incorrect but i have a whole picture that shows it is correct. I don't know if it certain agents who has a problem or if the company is actually just trying to make you create a new account to help its numbers stay relevant, make player spend money for no reason when they already have an account they spend a lot of money on before. But they need to rethink how to recover users accounts and remove the questions that literally has nothing to do with identifying a player in they game i am not happy with the company or developer of this game if they end up only wanting money and just money from player instead of fixing its backward recovery process. Might as well go back to play tensai online in the private servers at least they not gonna hold your account for ransom or to male you spend more money on a game that you already spent a lot on. Also their is a whole Reddit post showcasing player getting they account back by just showing the Facebook ID that they again gave instructions for. So its very contradicting and feels like you have some employees who want the game to just get bad rep for its horrible customer service and recovery process. Hope I'm not the only one who went through this and still could not recover they account I will not change my rating till you come up with a better way to recover people accounts

Possibly the Worst Gacha Game I've Ever Played. A Honest Review

If you genuinely like being treated like a 3rd class citizen, feel free to install SMT: Dx2. You could grind your life away for currency to get your face spat on. Not whale friendly and the game feels like it constantly hates you. It's very PvP oriented which is very convoluted and frustrating for its players. Horrible and painful powercreep and absolutely not F2P friendly. Expect spending at least $100-200 to get one copy of what you want.

Abysmal 5 rank drops for the past year

Ive been playing for a few years, I used to get a good 5 rank demon somewhat consistently. For the past year maybe more I have got nothing but the bottom of the barrel and decided this isnt worth anyones time or money. The new demons look haphazardly thrown together and usually break the meta or just arent worth even looking at. Used to be an OK game now is pretty bad and predatory with microtransactions. Play SMT V and avoid this slop.

I love Shin Megami Tensei

I’ve loved this series since I was 8 years old, so my opinion may be biased. Like the rest of the series, this game is extremely fun and addictive to play. It’s fast paced JRPG combat with highly customizable team building and monster collecting elements. The story reminds me of a mix of the Devil Summoner series, Devil Survivor, and mainline Shin Megami Tensei series rolled into one. The characters are fun and OST is full of bangers, as usual. The ability to battle other players and their teams is nice, since it hasn’t been seen since the MMO. I also love that this game brings back a lot of demons that haven’t been featured in the series for YEARS, with some even getting their first 3D model in this game. I will say that I do wish that the summon rates were better for 5 star demons, especially newly added ones and ones featured during events and crossovers, but otherwise I absolutely love this game and I hope it continues to get updates and new features and improvements in foreseeable future.

Dx2 WAS ONCE a wonderful SMT game!

Dx2 is a true Shin Megami Tensei game - at least until they became greedy. I don’t mind paying real $ for some things, but they JUST added a paywall to some rewards that had been all-player rewards. They got rid of ECLIPSE - a cute idea using 2 categories of demons for battle at a increasingly challenging scale. It’s gone now & those rewards are locked behind a paywall. The plot is engaging, NPCs are distinct & demons used are from the SMT pantheon - with some media tie-ins. It is infuriating that player demons are limited to level 50, but enemy demons keep scaling up & UP & to insane levels - like 90+ - & probably higher. I have some nice demons, but can’t afford to BUY the most expensive ones. $80 for one demon is stupidly expensive. I wish Dx2 hadn’t gotten so greedy.

SMTV could learn from Dx2

Dx2 has 3RD models of MANY demons compared to the “console” branch of SMT. Sure it’s a “gacha” mobile game but the campaign story is very interesting - plus you don’t have to pay for anything unless you want to become competitive in pvp. SMT fans who are not playing Dx2 are missing out!

This game is good, not only for mobile game standards, but also Shin Megami Tensei standards!

This game is really good and stays true to shin megami tensei! The fact that it takes demons that only had 2d sprites and gives them (mostly) high quality 3d models is awesome! I guess the only minor inconvenience I have is that’s it’s a gacha game, however the demon fusion mechanic makes this a non-issue.

Still has all the bells and whistles of the OG Megaten games

Having being familiar with the megaten series, this game was a nice little addition to the franchise, and is a good distraction till “Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance” drops. It still has it’s classic themes and tropes of the occult, apocalyptic, philosophical and even minimalistic aspects that makes the series stand out from other JRPGs, and I love that for these games, they’re not afraid to tackle heavy stuff, and the gameplay is pretty solid too, plenty of demons from all SMT games and even collaborations are there in their full 3D glory. Overall SMT Dx2 is a very solid mobile JRPG that I have been playing since its release, 9.6/10.

I played this game for about 3 weeks. In that time, I realized this game had a boring, no-stakes story that made no attempts to establish any characters or, god forbid, develop them. The combat is fine, but you will probably be disappointed if you come looking for mainline SMT gameplay.

Pretty good, but I like more darkness

I played shin megami tenses way back like 25 years ago, but I remember it having a much darker tone that I liked more. Recently, I beat soul hackers 2 and it totally sucked me back into the series, downloading smt 3 on steam right now, and can’t wait. Still have barely touched the persona series but I am looking forward to it. I love long games. This game seems like it has a lot of potential and good strategy. There’s soooo much to learn though it seems, which is cool, just hoping I don’t get too confused
