I'm giving this one star for now because the game has glitched & I'm stuck & unable to progress forward to complete the game. I've emailed the developers for help & have yet to get a response. I've paid for this game & can't complete it, that's a problem for me! I'll update my review whenever my issue gets resolved. **UPDATE** 4/28/26 Issue has been resolved & the game has been completed. I'm glad I was able to finish it because I really enjoyed playing it. It's a real fun, cute game!

The game loads and runs very slow when I try recording my gameplay (with screen recording app running in the background). I usually record my gameplay and it always works fine in other games but not this game. Pls fix this.

What an excellent and unique P&C! there was a lot of variation in the puzzles and things needed to be done to finish the game. It was a nice combination of comedy and mystery. The story was excellent, and the ending was very sweet. Some puzzles I know I would definitely not have been able to solve on my own without the help of walkthroughs though! Nice and long too. You have to play this game!

I loved the graphic adventure games of the 90's/00"s. If you loved games like Monkey Island, you will love this. This game has great graphics. It is full of humor reminiscent of the LucasArts games. The voice acting is top notch. I can't say enough about this game. I'm actually not even done playing it, yet, and I had to write a review. That's how much I love this game. The storyline is compelling. And there are hints built into the game, in the sense that if you pay attention to what the characters say, especially the detective (and you can click on him to hear his thoughts anytime), and you can put two and two together, you'll do fine. I still google for hints, because I have low frustraton tolerance and after a while I just MUST know. But here's a tip: just google a specific question, like "how do I do such-and-such in Voodoo Detective" and look at the AI generated answer, instead of just trying to look at a walkthrough website, because you'll accidentally see more than you wanted. Just one little hint and you can be on your way using your brain to figure out the rest of it. The first thing I'm going to do after playing this game is look to see if this developer has more point-and-click games. And I will download and play all of them. And if they don't, I will hope they read this and keep making more games. This is such an awesome game. I can't wait to replay it in a few months once I've forgotten enough of it, lol.

The story was funny & engaging, & I liked the art style. I'd like to say that I enjoyed this game more than "2 stars", but it was very glitchy (I played it on a Z Fold 4). It got worse the further I got until at the end the dialog was doubling up - 2 different conversations overlapping. Maybe it needs an update, or an overhaul?

I've played many games like this such as the great Rusty Lake series. Maybe this one gets better over the length of the game. I've walked over the accessible locations many times, talking to every available character. I've picked up several items, but I cannot find the items needed to keep the game progressing. I got bored watching the detective slowly walk over the same areas with no luck finding some new clue or item. Never got close to solving the Fontule case. Waste of money for me.

Amazing quality for a mobile game. Games like this are a big part of why I don't even bother using my desktop to game anymore. It isn't a super long game or anything, but it *is* quite a bit longer than I expected. Unique story beats and scenery. Definitely worth playing.

It's a good game: no ads, no begging for likes, no "play-to-pay." I really enjoyed the game although some of the actions are not intuitive I.e the gauntlet and toilet handle. Excellent voice work too.

If you like fighting fantasy classics by tin man games you will like this. An engaging interactive story with wit & humour. Set in the 1930s, you direct Voodo Detective through the islands while engaging in tasks, use inventory & dialogue with folks. Solutions to progress the story can be easy to difficult, e.x. the statue puzzle..."move the right arm" ridiculously moves the left arm 🤨 unable to solve, I used an online guide. I was expecting more out of a $15 game. I thought it would be puzzles but it’s mostly just dialogue with characters and very little piecing things together. Also, I hate to say it, but there are definite racial undertones in this game. The Voodoo Detective HATES the tourists (who are all white) and he loves the locals (who are black). I mean, I kinda get that. But then there’s also the actual white characters have either been the annoying white stereotype of overly smiley and dumb or they’re totally unlikable and rude for no reason. Tho I will say there have been a couple other white characters that seem ok.

Fun Game and Story

Wasn’t as good as I was expecting.

I had my eye on this game for a while but wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend $15 on a mobile game. The other reviews convinced me. This isn’t a game where there are puzzles to solve, most of the gameplay is in the interactions you have with characters. The dialogue and wordplay is funny but I wished there was just more to the game. Other than the scene in the underworld and the final battle.. it just seemed way too easy. I guess if you’re looking for a casual chill game, that’s fine but I was hoping for something a bit more challenging and possibly longer too. It felt pretty short to me.

Given the price (€16.99), I was very disappointed with this game. It's short, very easy and it's also linear. So it plays more like an interactive fiction than a game. There's no real challenge to the puzzes at all. The authors also are heavy on their personal gripes in the storyline, which I found distracted from the plot and the game itself. Two stars because the artwork is pleasant and I enjoyed learning about Voodoo and Hoodoo.

What a kick

It took a minute or two to figure out a few things in this game, but once I did, it was a lot of fun. I'm going to try it again with the different settings you can choose for the detective. Now that I know the basics, I know I'll enjoy the subtle nuances and get even more enjoyment out of it.

It looks like a 90s Don Bluth animated film, the puzzles are logical, not easy, but logical once you get into the culture of New Ginen and the Voodoo Detective. You know an adventure game is good when you finish and say “that should be a movie or a streaming series or something.” This is that kind of game.

Adventure game, check. Fun game, check. Offbeat humor, check. Great backgrounds, check. Perfect music per scene, yep. Superb voiceovers, you get the gist. Sometimes tricky, sometimes really clever, sometimes just really cute. Talk about traversing and cursing. This is something Dr. John and Gregg Rolie would enjoy (sorry, you’ll have to do some research there.)

I really enjoyed this point and click. As others have mentioned it reminded me of the Broken Sword games but none of the non-sensical solutions. The story was intriguing and the play time was just right (about 4 hours) for me - too long and I lose interest and forget what the story is and what my aim is. Good level of humour and not too much talking. Also double tapping to move between locations was such a good feature! You're also able to get hints from Voodoo Detective. I would love a sequel!

Such a fun game! Create spells, speak with ghosts, go to spirit realms; it's all here. The characters are interesting and there's a lot of humor in the game. I really liked that I didn't need a whole walkthrough to get through the game. Click on yourself and it gives you a hint. Also double clicking somewhere will make you walk there much faster.

One of the best point and click adventure games I have ever played and I played a ton of them. This it Lucas Arts quality all over it. The writing is great, the voice acting is top-notch, the characters were very likable, it was clever and funny. The items you use made sense and Grammies book was a great way to assist without giving you the answers. Please make another like this, or a sequel! This was great!

Love this game. The artwork is beautifully done and the story telling too. Would definitely buy a sequel. User tip: you can die in the later stages but just load your save game from the credits and the game will take you back to just before you died.

Worth The Money!

The story was interesting, animation is very pretty, the dialogue and characters are fun, the use of spells is unique, and overall it was a good experience. Point and Click Perfection!

This is more than I’ve ever spent on a phone game, and I was skeptical. It ended up being EXACTLY the type of game I wanted. It filled the hole left by the point and click adventure games of the 90s (Monkey Island, King’s Quest, various LucasArts adventures). Really well thought out game with great art and playability. Good P &C Adventure

Any fans of old school Lucasfilm games will love this game. Fantastic animation, music, characters and voice acting with silly humor make this game one of the best point and click adventure games in a while. Doesn’t load

Freezes on startup. I’m just looking at a telephone and a smudge stick in an ashtray for 15 minutes. I keep tapping on the screen or slide a finger or 2 across with hopes that something will happen. I tried reloading and starting a new game with the same results.
