When I first started playing this, was impressed and having fun, but after a couple months, have noticed that their dictionary/word list is desperately lacking. Tonight, the word 'bole', as in 'bole of a tree', was missing. Just looked it up, but not there. That's not the only word missing, there are a lot of them. I talked my mom into downloading this game, and yesterday she told me she stopped playing it because of the missing word problem. This game needs work, guys!!

I absolutely LOVE this app. It's the only mobile game that I play every day and genuinely enjoy. There's no ads, no in app purchases or microtransactions- it does exactly what it says. It's challenging and fun, yet relaxing. All around, it's a fantastic app that brings me a lot of joy.

brief overview of previous review: I thought the dictionary wasn't good enough since it lacked some words. New review: I've decided my complaint about the dictionary used doesn't impede my enjoyment of this game. I can't find anything else quite like this. Besides, it allows word other app's would not. The only thing that truly needs improving are adding instructions to connect with friends. Apologies for leaving my review at 3 for so long.

It is an enjoyable and relaxing game, which is very well done in terms of design. However, it is slightly let down by a very limited dictionary. I submit new words all the time, but they don't seem to be included. Also, after a while, it seems that you are repeating the same games over and over.

WELL worth it. no godawful ads, no endless stream of meaningless content, no garbage. just an actually calming and focused experience. I don't want an app I can waste hours in, that constantly tries to draw me back in and prey on and parasitize my attention span. mad respect to this app for the rare gift of being exactly what it says on the tin, and mad respect to its creator for NOT being a sellout and stuffing it so full of ads I suffocate, like every other word game in this godforsaken store.

Love this game. One nitpicky glitch... The darker blue status line of my 9 letter words flickers everytime I scroll. Pixel 8. Tried changing down from 120hz and changing colours from adaptive to natural and it still happens.

Exactly what I was looking for. Great game to relax but also brain thinking. My english is good but its not my 1st language so sometimes I am stuck but anyway I love it. Keep this updated and I am keeping it in my phone.

The game itself is ok. The settings toggle doesn't work, such like sound, tilt, and I'm assuming battery saver is not doing anything either. There is no way to "sync" with a friend either. There is an option, but you toggle it and that's it. All in all, it's a decent relaxing game, but a bit annoying, specially when you have a day with 88 words and then that's it. 3/5 If you would like to play with someone 1/5

Nice game, bad inplementation. Game is everything it says it will be, but the coding is laggy, very heavy in the phone etc. You will find yourself repeatedly tapping keys, waiting for the phone to respond, all of which detracts from the chill gameplay loop me. Disappointing overall

The UI could definitely be more user friendly especially since this was not a free app. As is, not worth the money! Needs an enter key and backspace. The swipe left and swipe up is a bunch of monkey business that takes longer and makes the game frustrating to play. Right now I'm sorry I wasted my money. Add those keys to make it more user friendly and it would be a great game.

Many legit words are not accepted, many more that are not legit are; this makes playing the game frustrating, and won't help anybody with their vocabulary. I'm a former English teacher so I don't need that part but it's just no fun to play. Update: I've reinstalled app, will support improvements. The OED is the go-to for serious wordsmiths. Best wishes for your success. 4-stars now.UPDATE: Hidden Unity, other ads, tracking. UNINSTALLED. Less painful as the words allowed are repetitive.

Game is decent and lots of words to find. However there are 2 annoyances that really frustrate. 1) the game burns battery like crazy. Phone gets super warm. Leads me to believe that it's either coded poorly or there are background processes going on that aren't disclosed (mining crypto? Who knows?). I have full on 3D action games that use less power. 2) the swiping input is fine for erasing and submitting words but trying to delete a letter or two is terrible and finicky. Button would be better

Love this game!!! I love that there's only one puzzle per day, love that there's no timer and no pressure, love that you can get hints, love that there's no monetary system, love that you can go back to prior days. Most of all, I love that I can play for 30 seconds if I want or keep playing until all days are complete. It is the perfect idle game for me.

The game itself is relaxing, beautiful, smooth and addictive, however it uses battery at an alarming rate. I would expect a 3D game to use 900-1,200mAh but definitely not a word game. I would rate this 5 stars if (another) setting was added which cuts out all animations and background processes - maybe swapping them with a static image of the current background. It's a very enjoyable game overall, keep up the great work!

I love this simple game. The only downsides are that it's dictionary is quite limited. I try plenty of real words that don't come up. Also, when you complete the game nothing happens. So no acknowledgment of your achievement. I know it's meant to be chilled, but it could be something as simple as a sunrise on the background picture! But I generally like its simplicity and the fact you cannot overuse it.

Recommended by Stuff magazine (I think) and I'm so glad I tried it out. Been playing it daily for months with my morning coffee and I can't imagine not doing that now. There's really nothing not to like, it's the perfect word puzzle. I haven't found any problems at all on my phone either, unlike other reviewers have said. Give it a try!

It's not for people who lack the free time to play for long periods. By design, the app resets daily. I thought that might be good, but I've never had time to stick with it long enough to even come close to completing a puzzle and that makes it feel pointless to play at all. Maybe if the dev adds a way to complete previous days or to skip the reset it would make more sense to me. Aside from that it's a stable app.

The android version is almost unplayable. If any other app is opened after starting Wordsmyth, the settings are ignored (sound is turned on, battery is drained, overheats the phone) but the worst is that the scrolling to go to a different day's game or to check how many 5 letter words are left is broken. It can take 3 minutes to scroll all the way. It is also the only app that overrides bixby on my tablet, which isn't bad but indicative of how it handles system requests

This is a relaxing and enjoyable word game. The presentation is nice and it's an overall great experience. And there's no time pressure, so you can place at your own pace. The only issue I've noticed is that when I reopen the app after starting a game for the day, it often takes quite a few seconds to display the menu/word list screens. Once I'm able to open the settings and disable battery saving mode (which seems to be re-enabled each time), displaying the menus operate smoothly though.

The latest update has made this game perfect as far as I'm concerned. Excellent work, the best word game I have found in the play store. Thank you for making a great game even better. Thank you for the dictionary change, sync with others and the filter option for the word list. Definitely worth the purchase. Also worth adding that the developer obviously cares about the quality of their app.

[Updated review to reflect the 12/2021 changes to the app]. The new dictionary is an improvement, with much less word spam, and the various new features are all very welcome-- great stuff overall, and way better than it used to be. Performance is more sluggish now and the audio setting doesn't work, but would nonetheless recommend this word game to anyone looking for an alternative to all the godawful crossword apps out there. Flawed, but willingness to patch the app gets it to 5 stars.
