Fun game. AI dice rolls seem rather lucky on the hardest setting of 7 but it makes for a more challenging game. 8/2026 update: Level 8 features blatantly rigged dice rolls by the AI. Be very careful when it offers you a double, because the next AI roll will often wreck you. However, the AI can get rather bold with double offers early in the game, which can be exploited to your advantage.

Entertaining game. Dice rolls seem suspect at times. AI doubling cube very questionable. Good game but as other reviewers have noted, expect the AI to roll amazing rolls at exactly the best time and to roll the ideal roll after offering to double. The developer claims that they use the industry standard for dice roles. By definition, the industry standard would be used by most of the game makers. So basically they are admitting that there game is no different from any other backgammon game

Still almost predictable I bought a while back. It started becoming almost predictable when needing doubles or specific rolls to hit open pips. I'm not sure if English is your native language but your responses are very curt and unhelpful. I play the game to entertain myself typically when waiting somewhere. Do you really think that we are making up our opinion that the rolls are somewhat predictable? It's a computer game. Nothing won or lost. Just want to enjoy our time.

You have RUINED this app by making it next to impossible to win at the higher levels. Please don't say the rolls are random. They are not. The app gets what it needs 90% of the time. I just played a game where I needed anything other than a 4 or 6 to come off the bar. My first four rolls were 6-4, 6-4, 6-6 and 6-4. I don't know what you have done to the algorithm but the games sucks. Thanks for sucking the fun out of an app that used to be good.

I know the developers disagree, but i think the AI is suspect. it's not that it rolls doubles excessively, but when. after the AI opponent doubles, it typically gets 1-3 amazing, stupendous moves.... all of a sudden, I'm totally out of the game. I can accept losing, but only if it's fair.

I have had this game for some time. The no longer that new changes meant for the first time I played two matches in a row that I nearly lost. While I still won gone is the version I could play to unwind without any real threat. Nice to experience a less easy to predict response from the non--human side.

I'm pretty sure the difficulty setting just determines how good the rolls are for the player and computer. response: I was kinda kidding. I do love this version. edit: nah, the coincidences are too much. I often get dozens of double rolls when I can't use them and none when I need them. seems like every time the cou doubles the next roll they get the best possible. edit2: if you could watch one of these games you'd be surprised. ridiculous streaks of rolls. and yet I can't stop playing

This game has nice animations and gameplay, but you'll never convince me that it isn't giving itself ideal rolls. Too many times I've seen it roll exactly what it needs at that moment in the game. There's no way it is just luck. Yet I continue to play it and curse at it.

Just changed phone and Backgammon Pro is still an excellent game with a recent update. Very battery friendly esoecially in eco mode. I have played many daily games for lots of years and have found the dice throw very even-handedly. Thx to the team for the update explanation.

I honestly don't know how you can say this is a random number generator game. the opponent always gets doubles when losing, always! I play this game a lot. The opponent always gets numbers needed to get counters back in play. please explain to me how this is 'random' I don't expect this to be weighed in their favour every single game

I love the smooth crisp graphics but during gameplay the AI gets an INCREDIBLE amount of doubles and precision hits on my own pieces while roll after roll I'll get the very same dice. 6 & 3, 6 & 3, 6 & 3, out next time 5 & 2, 5 & 2, 5 & 2 and so on. Random my butt! EDIT: developer continues to claim fairness DESPITE the overwhelming amount of 1 star reviews telling OTHERWISE. I've used their products for years... no more. Seriously, look at their replies on 1 star reviews, they're RUDE.

Love the game itself. The UI is flawless and UX is excellent as well. AI needs a lot of improvement, especially after the break point when it's a pure race. I also wish that there was an option to auto-roll when you're completely blocked off, similar to when you "auto bear off". Show some love to your paying customers and improve the game please.

It cheats ridiculously. Ever wonder how these backgammon games vary their level of difficulty? Here's how: on the most difficult settings, the computer gives itself doubles much more frequently early and late in the game, when they do the most good. Meanwhile, the probability that you will roll at least one 2 - 1 late in the game, when it does the most harm, is essentially 100%. Count your incidences of rolling 2-1 late. You'll see. This game is a joke. Unfortunately, the joke's on you.

Competent opponent at level 8. My win rate is over 60%. At end game, before all tiles are in home, when program has a double, if you can program for optimizing for maximum number of tiles you can move into home rather than moving the farthest tiles closer your program will win more of the close games.
