About
Every great board-game tradition of the world, in one beautiful app. Boardlore brings together twenty of the world's chess and board-game traditions under one elegant design — from Western chess to Shogi, Xiangqi, Go, and the historic games that shaped them all. Learn a new tradition, master an old favorite, and play a strong AI opponent anywhere, even offline. WORLDS OF STRATEGY, ONE APP - Western chess, plus rule-variants: Chess960, Crazyhouse, Antichess, Horde, Atomic, Racing Kings, Three-check, and King of the Hill - Shogi and Minishogi (Japanese chess) - Xiangqi (Chinese chess) - Go, Atari-Go, and multiple board sizes - Janggi (Korean chess), Makruk (Thai chess), Sittuyin (Burmese chess), Shatranj (the medieval Arabic root of chess), and Dobutsu (animal shogi) Twenty playable variants across five living traditions and their historic roots. PLAY ANYWHERE, EVEN OFFLINE An on-device AI opponent with multiple strength levels plays fully offline — on a plane, on the train, or anywhere without a signal. LEARN THE RULES Never played Shogi or Go? A built-in "learn the rules" onboarding teaches every unfamiliar variant, step by step, so nothing is ever off-limits. HERITAGE REPLAY Explore a curated corpus of historic games across traditions, and see how the masters played. TRAIN Sharpen your game with puzzle practice tailored to each tradition. BEAUTIFUL REGIONAL ART Each tradition is rendered in its own visual heritage — a beautifully bound anthology of the world's strategy games, not a generic chess board. Available on iPhone and iPad. HONEST AND PLAYER-FIRST The core game is free to play. A brief full-screen ad appears between games — roughly every other match, and never during play, so your concentration stays unbroken. Need more hints or undo? A free daily allowance refills twice a day, or watch an optional rewarded ad for an instant top-up. Prefer no ads at all? A one-time Pro upgrade removes them entirely and unlocks unlimited hints and undo. No pay-to-win, and never a mid-game interruption. Boardlore — the world's board-game traditions, beautifully together.
