To hurt them.
• Climb up an enormous mountain with nothing but a hammer and a pot.
• Listen as I make philosophical observations about the problem at hand.
• Between 2 and ∞ hours of agonizing gameplay, depending. The median time to finish for my playtesters was 5 hours, but the mean was closer to ∞.
• Lose all your progress, over and over.
• Feel new types of frustration you didn't know you were capable of.

I hate this game

Controls and Port Review
I’m writing this review to answer some of the questions I had before I purchased this game for iOS.
Controls: The controls did take some time to get used to, and I did have to adjust the sensitivity slider a bit so that it worked the way I wanted it to. But I was able to get it all working rather well within just a few minutes of messing around with the settings and experimenting.
Difficulty: This game is naturally hard, but to give you an idea of how the iOS port is compared to the mobile: I have over 50 wins on PC and can usually do a run within 10-15 min. On this port for iOS it took me 24 min and 37 seconds for my first completion on mobile. That includes the time it took to mess around with getting used to the touch screen controls and adjusting the sensitivity.
Run notes: I’d say the only really troubling part for me on my first run on mobile was trying to do the bucket with touch screen controls. Everything else was pretty smooth sailing.
Graphics quality: Not quite as good as on pc, but still a great port for mobile. As of 2026 this game looks pretty good even on an iPhone.
Overall game / port review:
This app is absolutely worth the $5 and I will probably end up getting 50+ wins here too. It’s a great game and it’s nice to be able to pick up and play for a few minutes here and there to make a little more progress on your run.
Fantastic work to the developers who ported this game to iOS, and of course to Bennett Foddy who created such a beautiful game to begin with. Hats off to you all! See you at the top.

I’m probably never going to touch this game again
This game, genuinely, made me want to do bad things to myself. But the more I played, the more I learned from my mistakes and pushed forward. I eventually got it drilled in my head that’s it’s just a game, and I need to, well, get over it. Gameplay wise, it’s great. While playing I experienced no lag, no problems, nothing. It’s a perfect 1:1 port with the PC version I’ve seen people play. Thank you Bennett for solving my anger issues, but also go screw yourself.

My opinion
Despite how long it took for me to learn this game and all the rage baits and ups and downs. I’m enjoying this game.
When I join the game after resetting the game by double tapping the home button in swiping up when I rejoin, I can’t move for like a second or two then when I am able to move, the sensitivity becomes extremely high and I’ve lost progress because of that. relaxing game

The Game that doesn’t escape life.
In most cases, the point of a game is to escape life. Whether it be in front of the tv, at work, or even through a difficult time of one’s life. This game however is special, while it may have been made to waste time, its not a escape. Every couch, tree, and orange is a obstacle. This games design is bad
The character won’t keep his arm straight to make the big momentum jumps and there’s no UI to let you know how hard it needs to be swung or anything, on an iphone it’s near impossible and complete waste of money.

Getting over it
This game could get you mad and the canyon part was hard and the mountains were harder then canyons so the game was a lot of fun it was worth buying and when I first played the game it got me super mad like I crashed out.

Stressful..and rewarding.
The entire game from beginning to end has you feeling like every step you take is an unfair and unnecessary waste of time, going somewhere you are not sure would even be worth the time you put into it. ..But every mistake you make is not one that you can’t recover from, and slowly you realize what you can truly do to make progress while not blaming the game, but simply learning that the faults you make are your own faults… it took me four hours to beat the game, but in real time well over a month a month and some change of finger cramps and heavy sighs. This game is a testament to learning about persevering even when you find something to be unfair, and the relief you’ll have when you learn that the difficulty you encounter is from your own inexperience. Learn the mountain, gain relief, and Get Over It. 👍

Infuriating but great
I love this game. It’s really weird which I love about games and it’s always trying to be positive. Although I think it’s supposed to be infuriating. It’s also really fun and challenging. The controls are difficult but not impossible. It’s difficult to get up places but the difficulty makes it fun. I really enjoy this game (even though I haven’t beaten it yet) and I hope you do to. But a word of advice. If you get irritated by obnoxious sound, I don’t recommend playing this. But anyways, it’s great and I appreciate the amount of effort that went into this.

This is just my opinion (i havent beat the game yet!)
Honestly i wish i would have known that there was difference between the official game and the Apple Arcade version. First thing i noticed is the fact you cant use any controllers on this one but when i used my free trial for the arcade you are able to and the settings are slightly better on the arcade version. If you have the money to get the arcade or already have a subscription I suggest playing the apple version, but like i said this is just my opinion!

hardest challenge
the game was so hard but after years of playing the game like once a month i completed it and I’m almost sad i did. great game other than when i was stuck at the orange part for 95% of my gameplay time but that was the challenge.
