I literally downloaded this app solely to review it. Your ads are so intrusive that I deleted four other games because YOUR ads made THEM unplayable. I expected ads in these other games, but yours are so invasive that I can recite every variant and they made me loathe your game despite never playing it. I have less than zero interest in your game, due to the fact that ads for it ruined four other games for me that I really liked.

Best story I've seen in a merge game

I've dabbled in a lot of merge games and usually bounce off them because the writing is so irritating. So many of these games abandon their plot premises or pad for time by making characters almost pathologically non-confrontational. I knew Just Desserts would be special when the protagonist learned key information about a suspect and *immediately* called to question them about it. Even when dessert business events take focus, the plot and characters of Just Desserts never forget that their main concern is the mystery of the fire. Rather than drag things out, characters act on information quickly, and setbacks emerge in the form of new twists or even actual physical threats from the antagonists. A cozy mobile game mystery with real tension! Amazing!!! The writers have even made the ex both remorseful and helpful enough to be a viable contender as a love interest. Unlike in other games, it's easy to understand why Ella keeps getting pulled back into his orbit, even if you're rooting for her to get with someone else (PS please give me more time with my boy Hank thank you). I haven't felt this way about a mobile game's writing since Stella Sacco wrote for Lily's Garden. It's such a breath of fresh air in this space, and I sincerely hope this company appreciates their writers as much as I do.

Too little energy

This game is super fun. The best of the merge games that I have played except for two things. No energy to play and you waste your little bit of energy on getting one thing that you end up not having enough energy to get. Other merge game give you 100 energy for each “new day” but not this one. It’s too bad…it is a fun game with a great story line.

Story's good, but the gameplay is the stingiest matching game I've ever seen. I've barely started and most of the orders include items I don't even have access to yet or are like lvl 8 items that require two 7's, or four 6's, or eight 5's ... in other words up to 128 energy used to fill one level 8 item for PART of an order and some tings like the pirate chest and berry bush you can only click like 8 clicks a day! You can't play the game for more than a couple minutes without spending money.

Disappointgly same with all merge games. I have now been 3 days trying to fill an order that requires way too much energy to be realistic. I think I will get it done tomorrow, but of course it will too late for current events/challenges. You can play for couple of weeks, and then it gets to a point where you don't even remember the story line anymore when finally advancing. I'm ok to pay, I have my monthly gaming budget etc. but I don't feel like getting anything in exchange of my money.

Too Expensive

I loved playing this game at first. Thr story was unfolding as you advanced. BUT it’s very expensive to play once you get to the point where you’re waiting for them to release the next part story )every Friday). I only got to play for three minutes this morning without paying to play. It’s like they only want you to play it on Friday so energy builds up all week to have enough to get the story line. I got frustrated and deleted it.

Let this sink in…..

I had to make the tea fruit tray. I started at 2,300 energy that took me forever to save up, which meant no playing for at least a month. After I completed the fruit tray. I was left with 886 energy. Let that sink in about this game. And that was only ONE order. This game is absolutely stingy on energy. And do NOT spend money or you’ll lose the daily energy box that you get for free and the daily 15 energy that you get two of daily. If you spend money, you will have to pay 10 gems for the energy box and the 30 energy will vanish. After realizing how much energy it took to complete just one item, I’ve decided the game is no longer worth it. There are hundreds of these games and most are much more generous.

Started amazing….

I absolutely was obsessed with this game when I started! For 2 days it was amazing! Then, all ways to get my energy boosted for “free” was gone. Now I can play for maybe 4 minutes every 2 hours. Such a shame. The storyline was incredible, the game play was flawless, but there’s no way anyone can afford to “buy” energy for this game. Too expensive for way too little time. Breaks my heart as it really is a great app IF you could actually still play it. I mean, as the orders go up & get bigger, the energy stays the same & no where near enough.

Promising

I have really enjoyed this merge game, but have a bit of feedback: Most of the merge games I’ve played all refill your energy/gives you a set amount when you level up. This one doesn’t, and it’s a bit maddening … I don’t mind paying for occasional packs or event perks, but I’m probably going to stop playing this one soon as I’m level 22 and just blow through energy way too fast compared to getting energy items or via quests. It’s not fun when you have to buy multiple add-ons a day just to keep playing. Also, it would be SO great if you were able to zoom in/out of the background, or could delay a decor choice instead of being forced into it with a limited visual range. It makes it hard to decide how an option looks among other choices in the space. That’s been a frustration with most decor choices. I’d also love a less … froofy set of decor options? I don’t really love the froofy stuff, or most of the green or orange stuff. And I really don’t like all the angel statues that you have no choice about adding to your space. That said, I find the story proceeds at a better pace than other popular merge games. Or you are at least given enough info to come to some conclusions and maintain interest. Overall it’s solid, but I hope some energy gifts or level refills are incorporated soon. The minor gripes are easier to overlook if you can just keep playing longer. Oh, and I’d kill for an alternative or “goth” set of options! Ella is an alternative lady, she should have a bit more decor to match the vibe. 😉

Usually I don’t bother with reviews but this is the best merge game bar none. No annoying ads, quick with wins, and the storyline continues without having to constantly sink money into the game! The art is cute, and it’s got many moving parts to keep it from being monotonous, but I have two issues: 1. The resource deficit is ridiculous. This’s my third day playing, and it’s like they don’t even WANT you to play if you don’t want to spend money. You can’t merge items without something named ‘energy,’ and you can’t read the story without in game currency; once you get past the honeymoon phase (around level 12 or 13), you run out of resources to move through the story OR merge. Energy will replenish with time, but it takes quite a bit of time to get a meaningful amount of it, and you need it in order to get in game currency. Once in a while, they will allow you to watch an ad for energy, but the option disappears, which is strange because most games allow ads for perks. Since I understand the value of a dollar, I’m simply not going to dump my money into getting different graphics on a screen, so I wind up merging some stuff, then become stuck because I have nothing to do, and close the game. Strange how they make a game they don’t want you to actually play; they just want a paycheck. Also, the ‘orders’ you need to fulfill become more and more high level items, so you need to make, like, 50 of the base items to reach the item. Maybe a solution would be to have access to item generators that base generate higher level items? Because it’s gone from fun to tedious and annoying to make higher level items. Like, you literally just want to let out a sigh and roll your eyes when you see you need another pink strawberry roll cake. 2. (Potential spoiler if I’m correct, so read with caution.) Story wise, it seems pretty obvious to me that this Edward guy didn’t actually betray the main character, and he probably broke things off with her because he was ‘just trying to protect her’ from the bad guys, and it’s going to be revealed that he loved her all along, and knows Ella is the woman he knocked up (you just know he’s going to tell her he knew it was her all along), and that’s why he’s simultaneously pushing her to leave and weasel his way back into her life, and I’m sorry, but that’s obnoxious, and not what I signed up for. I downloaded this for the feminine rage and revenge plot that they advertise, not ‘oopsy doodles! This was all just a misunderstanding, and he’s still your dream guy who’s going to come to your rescue, and was secretly helping you along the entire time! You’re going to end up as a big, happy family with a dalmatian and a successful business: #GirlGoals!’ B.S., tired, idealistic story I’ve seen a million times. I swear, why are people too cowardly to bite the bullet, and go for an actual revenge plot? Girl, embarrass him, ruin his life, then file for child support: STIR THE POT! I guess we’ll see if I’m twisted about nothing for issue two, but issue one is a big deal. Please allow us people who want to, both, play a game AND afford groceries to access resources, because this is completely untenable.

I just downloaded this game and already know I’m not going to play long term. The dense, gameplay and graphics are fine — but you must have energy to play, and it can only be earned over time (A LONG TIME) or purchased. That means if you regularly want to play, you’ve regularly got to pay. While I have no problem buying boosters for games, it’s ridiculous (and not sorry: arrogant) to expect players to buy gems for energy daily if they simply want to play your game. Figure it out, because I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.

DON’T BOTHER! THE STORYLINE HAS BEEN STALLED FOR A WHILE. They haven’t kept up with it and I’ve been waiting for the story to continue for weeks! Like most apps, it’s fun to start with, then it’s nothing. It just stalls and you keep playing thinking you’ll get somewhere. Unfortunately, they don’t tell you that until you contact support several times. Then you’re told they haven’t gotten beyond level 34. So many of these companies post half finished apps and hope you’ll never notice UPDATE: Now you can’t even accumulate coins from merging while you’re waiting for them to write another level. It’s insulting that they think we’re stupid!

Overall, it's a good merge game, but there's a major issue with the energy booster. When I switch it to 2x or 4x, the game becomes extremely laggy, my phone starts overheating, and the performance drops so much that I can barely merge anything. This game would get five stars because it's my favourite of the merge and story type games available (I've played basically all of them), but there's one thing that drops it two stars: after you've completed the last available storyline quest, coins no longer accumulate. Other rewards do, but coins do not. It's one of those merge games, if you have played one, you know exactly what I mean. It's fine This game's ad shows a horrific depiction of both child and domestic abuse, ending in the father of the child killing the main character's mother in a housefire. Downloading the game shows that this abuse and fire are part of the story. This is a horrific and inappropriate thing to depict in both an ad and a mobile game. That ad is shameful to have been made and shown and needs to be removed.

Not so much anymore

Like other reviewers, I had fun playing the game initially. However, once you get to level 34, there is no storyline and you are just merging to merge at this point. I am frustrated because I was playing for the storyline.

Intriguing and Super Fun

I’m on level 20 and loving it! I downloaded this game after I saw just one ad because the storyline captured me. I love merge games, and as long as you participate in the events along with the main story, this one gives you several opportunities to gain energy, coins, etc so you can keep on playing. The other merge games I play also have those opportunities , but it seems like this one has more. My favorite part though is that the storyline is 🔥.

Great game, BUT……

I love playing this game. The story line is very interesting, and I love the characters (except the bad ones). However, most of the time I can only play for about 5 minutes! PLEASE give players more energy to play longer. But, not expect players to constantly buy energy! I will stop playing if this is not changed. I live on a fixed income and cannot afford constant purchases.

It love bombs you at first then progressively draws back so you are not inclined to spend $$

This game is s lot of fun, the storyline is engaging, animations are fun, and most characters are likable. I do not like the kid, that character is all over my nerves. I understand that character is necessary for the story but I sure don’t miss her when she’s gone. Game play is a lot of fun but, of course there’s an inverse relationship between how challenging meeting goals are and how much loot they give you to keep wanting to play; they ultimately manipulate you into spending money because some of the items take forever to get. They gradually reduce rewards so you don’t really notice until you have no gems with an extremely expensive item bubble bouncing around and you NEED that item!! They’re not about to give out gems like they did when they were hooking you in. Progressing the storyline more takes a couple hundred coins as the story progresses but energy is also hard to come by now. I play for a while then close it and come back later. I like it enough to keep playing but know it’s not a long play time for me.

so im trying to load into my game and its telling me there is a new update and when i click later it takes me to the app store and it shows no update i cant install a new update and so now i cant play the game because the mystery update it wants me to do even though its not available

Glitch

I downloaded the game. When I opened to play it said I needed an update. I hit okay, there was no new update, so I tried to open the game again and it just put me in a loop to update again. Still can open the game to play

Most fun game

I have really enjoyed this for a while now. Yes spent money on this game. Great story line. Unfortunately, I have stumbled onto the dreaded “coming soon” stage. I will not spend $$ to just merge. Saddens me to say, will wait 6 weeks and then delete if no new story line.
