My therapy
- Fourthman · v6.31.0
Daily games for me. I enjoy them all but currently keep my wordle and strand streaks going. I only pay for NYT games so I can relax and enjoy the challenges. I put up with ads on other games I play.
- nan17 · v6.31.0
Love the puzzles except someone thought it would be a good idea to put the dominoes on Pibs at the lowest point of the screen it can go. And so every single time you try to grab a domino from the bottom row, it swipes out of the app/closes it. This is so annoying DEAR GOD.
- Gluegun6 · v6.31.0
The only reason I’m reviewing this at this moment and giving only 4 stars is b/c I want to put it out there that for the past month or so, whenever I do the Midi, the app crashes on me. (I’m normally playing on my iPad) Can this be addressed?
- DNF0330 · v6.31.0
It’s very annoying that the link to the wordplay column now opens it in the Games app instead of the NYT app. Now if I want to look at the column and the puzzle, I can’t just swipe back and forth between the two apps—I have to close out of one to view the other. If I want to go back to the word play column, I’ve then lost my place.
- vnncfnmnb · v6.31.0
The games are good
- Danlarkin1 · v6.31.0
I’m hoping that by typing this it’ll stop harassing me
- The VinMan 98 · v6.31.0
Fun
- Nairesiai · v6.31.0
Can’t play because you want a full updated version. I’m not getting a new phone just to play. Let me know when you decide to fix the issue that everyone has mentioned to you multiple times. Again .. now months later you still haven’t fixed it. I’m not understanding why this is still an issue
- breasdfggghh · v6.4.0
My only complaint is that the app crashes whenever I play the midi crossword. All of the other crosswords work just fine.
- NickT7087 · v6.31.0
It crashes and that’s very annoying
- Kfleming1970 · v6.31.0
Last two words were QUEER and UNITY
- lbn9015 · v6.31.0
I have been using the New York Times games app for four or five years now, but apparently they don’t want me anymore. For some reason they’ve dropped iOS 17 support, and rather than just let it be buggy there is a pop-up that completely prevents using the app. Highway robbery, taking our money for a subscription for services not rendered
- Alexander in NY · v6.4.0
The crossword keyboard is just a tad bit different compared to the apple keyboard that weve been using for more than a decade. It causes misclicks and misspellings often.
- Jrgl90 · v6.31.0
Great puzzles!
- C0lumbano · v6.31.0
To get from the crossword comments section to the main menu of this app I have to do the following in this order: - swipe down from the top of the screen - tap a left arrow button in the bottom left of the screen - tap a check button in the top right of the screen - tap a down arrow button in the top left of the screen Could be more consistent considering I just want to go “back” four times. Also, please make dark mode consistent throughout the app so that my mistake of opening spelling bee later than I ought to doesn’t wake the room with the bright yellow light of the game’s title screen.
- thomastryon · v6.31.0
Great
- FKrebs4 · v6.31.0
1) every time I complete a crossword it asks me to review the app 2) the sudoku game when clicking on hint will not close the side bar 3) on all games, there are like four different locations to close the previous screen. Bottom left, top right, top left - keep them consistent!!
- megaroo102 · v6.31.0
I have two qualms when it comes to these highly addictive and fun word games. First, I think the subscription is so ridiculously expensive. I’d rather play a flat rate up front over a monthly fee. Second, please update the app so that you can share more scores with friends!! I want to be able to share my Strands scores with friends please!! If you add that feature, I think I can stomach the subscription cost.
- issaacecil · v6.31.0
For an app developed by the New York Times, it is surprisingly poor to use on the subway. Each tiny wordle or spelling bee puzzle requires a new, slow download. If you’re underground and have spotty reception, this is bad! The actual puzzle content should fit in a tiny JSON blob. Why not just ensure that every puzzle on the homepage is playable by preloading them all in the background? Baffling
- yowzadave · v6.31.0
It sucks so bad
- Bob aka LeBron James · v6.31.0
While working the midi puzzle daily, the app crashes and closes. It will do this a couple or three times before I finish the puzzle.
- rebelorr · v6.31.0
Love the crossword
- adiclemente · v6.31.0
Seriously, how hard could it be to get Spelling Bee to accept the first character you type when you open the app? Yet the behavior keeps flipping back and forth to miss the first letter or not.
- Sintactic · v6.31.0
We are just trying to enjoy NYT Games, why are you constantly forcing updates?
- jbs418 · v6.31.0
i cant use the connections bot in the app. once you click on it, there is a pop-up for the subscription that has no close button. i just wanted to see how i did on todays connections compared to others. this does not make me want to play the games daily, and especially doesn’t make me want to subscribe.
- starlightmak · v6.31.0
Love this app but can’t invite friends, the link it generates is broken
- helloann_ro · v6.31.0

- Sgt Pepper’s Rubber Revolver · v6.31.0
A little too much, probably..
- LalaBell47 · v6.31.0
Sometimes more than once a day, it's so annoying I don't want it.
- FiveFiveNine · v6.31.0
I liked it better when it didn’t bug me for reviews and I am still waiting on a pips archive.
- Smt999999 · v6.30.0
After most recent update, the app quits for no reason in the middle of the midi on both iPhone and iPad.
- yknot86 · v6.30.0
What would I do without these puzzles?
- gombiebear · v6.30.0
Me and my grandma have used this app for the last 2-3 years. I absolutely love crosswords but now am unable to play because of the new iOS requirement. My device is older and is only on iOS 15 and may not be able to update to iOS 18. I am highly disapointed and wont be able to play this highly engaging game anymore.
- Ivy Rickman · v4.63.0
I like nytimes games fine, but if you keep pestering for a review with an obnoxious popup every time I use the app, I will be forced to review you at one star.
- 💅 GrlEgrl · v6.30.0
I LOVE THIS APP, but why in the world do the Sudoku games expire before the day ends? All other games reset at 12am local time, EXCEPT for Sudoku. Make it make sense!!Once this changes to be more logical, I will give this app 5 stars.
- JacquiVillarreal · v6.30.0
And this is the only place to leave feedback. NYT appears not to value customer contact.
- Paul "The" Masson · v6.30.0
Good game
- AnnieAltman1 · v6.30.0
Love the daily crosswords!
- Carolemg54 · v6.30.0
What better way to start your day than have your brain wake up to fun puzzles.
- BrianH615 · v6.30.0
Writing this review so the app stops asking me to rate the app. The 5 stars is so the ease of use and availability of different puzzles. But I really hate being forced into writing a rating so I stop getting the pop up.

- Candy's Games · v6.30.0
Every. Single. Crossword. (Each rating with be one-star. I will sum up the number of times I was asked)
- iGreeley · v6.30.0
every single time i finish a puzzle. if i wanted to rate it, i would have already.
- anj222 · v6.30.0
The wordplay blog used to be able to be opened in Safari or the official New York Times app. Now, that ability has been removed! And it’s maddening to try to go back and forth from the blog post to the puzzle now.
- JKJ000089 · v6.30.0
The NYT games are the perfect little daily games to engage my brain and are good fun for me for a few minutes before I continue with my day. However, the spelling bee only allows me to play for about 10 seconds or less most of the time and requires me to close the app out before I continue with anything else on the app. In other words, there’s no way to exit out of the spelling bee after the game is finished unless you close out the app entirely. I have the free version, so I’m not sure if premium/unlimited users are having the same issues. These issues are consistent for me, though. Otherwise, love the games!
- bfr.01 · v6.30.0
I absolutely LOVE the games in the Ap. My favorite game of all time has to be Connections. I could write a short book on how to play it! It takes some practice to get used to playing it without mistakes, but it’s so worth it if you’re a words person and love puzzles. (They like to try to trick you, and give you “Red Herrings” just like in their crossword puzzles. It’s so much fun, and it’s like a workout for my brain. (Yet takes me into a kind of deep meditative trance at the same time.) So it’s so relaxing and yet also tires me out before I go to bed. The only thing I absolutely have been hating is, I’ll be doing a harder crossword puzzle-right in the middle of filling in the answer to a hard clue and it’ll force close. Yesterday it force closed on me ten times. It got so annoying I nearly gave up. That was just a bad experience.
- LaurieMay88 · v6.30.0
Excellent
- Jackomup · v6.30.0
Only leaving this to stop the pop-up requests.
- Dreadfive · v6.30.0
After latest update crashes at least once every puzzle, and begs me to leave a review after every crossword. Loved the app up until recently, then it started review begging (something the App Store should put a stop to). Now the constant crashes, if I could give it 0 stars I would. Horrible behavior from an app that wants you to spend more than $50 a year to use.
- AnnoyedPuzzler · v6.30.0
I will rate this 1 star every time I get asked to rate it in app until you stop asking me. Otherwise, 5 stars.
- asnoel · v6.30.0
Before the latest upgrade I would have given it five stars. Two things bug me now: 1. It asks for a review every time you complete the daily crossword. 2. Hints don’t open in the NUT app, so it’s hard to go back and forth if it’s a particularly tough puzzle. You always have to scroll through everything you’ve already read.
- Xabbur · v6.30.0
I still get play plenty of games (like Wordle, Connections, Strings, etc.) they offer but wish the Mini was still free to play!
- DeeeeeJayyyy · v6.30.0
I love the puzzles, but there are two things which should be changed. First, streaks should restore if you play the historical puzzle. I was on an international flight and lost several steaks because I couldn’t play the puzzles that day. Second, for connections, please add the ability to drag and move the boxes around to organize before you submit.
- Deanhoudini · v6.30.0
not upgrading my iPad just to update it to play…
- J-ash5678 · v6.2.0
Last version and this version the game won’t X out after completing. Must close app and reopen each game.
- RMJRYOST · v6.30.0
The spelling bee and the wordle is fun and helps grow kid’s minds.
- Kiera the bera · v6.30.0
My subscription on Ipad was renewed and ten days later the upgraded version is no longer playable. So fifty dollars wasted. The old iPads do not upgrade to the version now required, as you must certainly know by now. WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FIX THIS? Many subscribers do not have the means to run out and buy new devices.
- Sawtheoriginal · v5.40.0
App keeps crashing every five minutes. It’s annoying.
- Ec1215 · v6.30.0
Has stopped working on older iPads that can not upgrade to latest iOS! WHY?
- quietviolin · v4.63.0
Keeps crashing since last update. Please fix.
- Most Disappointed · v6.30.0
Title says it all
- Pvt. Bombzilla · v6.30.0
Overall I love this app but you desperately need new tilesets. I haven’t seen a new one since I started playing.
- RockerDiva · v6.30.0
Love it. It’s been my morning ritual for over a decade. Full of uncanny connections with daily life. Thank you, Will and friends.
- Star Beast of Skagway · v6.30.0
I really love this game but why do we need to pay the subscription just so we can play the rest of the games and the archives of games! It’s ridiculous! So can you please make all the games and the archives free so that we don’t need to pay that pesky subscription anymore?
- Mathematician #1 · v6.30.0
The “Connections“ game has become too difficult to understand which connections the author was thinking of when there are multiple connections. Some categories are just obscure. I don’t enjoy it anymore.
- Drogersla · v6.30.0
Today’s word in Wordle was Emoji and that is really dumb.
- haroldbobarrett · v6.30.0
Crashes in Midi often since last update
- Djs06179325 · v6.30.0
IS GOOD
- Crossword-gawd · v6.30.0
I rated 5s but it keeps prompting me so now I’m on ones
- JBDIII · v6.30.0
I have a suggestion for the statistics tab on Wordle. Under “guess distribution,” it would be great if users could tap each guess # and view the puzzles which took them that # of guesses.
- nicklesmcnickname · v6.30.0
I love it
- NYTFan❤️ · v6.30.0
The lack of pre caching today's games while a phone is connected to wifi so they can be played reliably while on the train is unacceptable. Sudoku will not load in the brief connection available in a crowded NYC subway station. This app is made by a company based in a city where people take trains that don't have cell service in the tunnels. If you care about readers in your namesake city either fix the app or the trains. The games are pretty good tho. I'd suggest a UI change for sudoku that allows a number to be entered by a tap followed by a second tap on a number pad that pops up centered on the cell. A hard answer as opposed to a candidate should be a long press on the number or a mode switch. The location of the auto candidate mode switch should be moved to a menu. The current location is at risk of fat finger errors from the bottom row of numbers.
- Hopefully nick not taken · v6.30.0
Figured it out from a Reddit thread, but you guys have got to fix that.
- blisha Aell · v6.30.0
Annoying
- Kevvvvinnnnnn · v6.30.0
The vibe coding has caught up to you! Seriously this is a crossword app how are you crashing
- o-h-m-111 · v6.30.0
The past two days the crossword apps crash while I am using them. Thoughts?
- Grandma Lainie · v6.30.0
I really, really hate updates, and this one confirms why. After being FORCED to update, it crashes all the time, which is quite annoying. Please fix this as it used to be my favorite puzzle app.
- Happyplayer 3 · v6.30.0
There’s been a glitch in crosswords and wordle that hasn’t been fixed since the last several updates. When a puzzle is complete, it doesn’t let me view my work. In fact the X at top right to close doesn’t work either. Please fix this, I need to admire my work !
- Ceelouha · v6.30.0
I am unable to update the game on one of my devices (iPad). After selecting the update button, it continues the process and then returns to the update screen (to repeat)? I enjoy this app and I play it daily. I am also a subscriber. I have also noticed other users with this problem. Please fix or provide the previous version for older IPad users. In addition, I have done all updates to my IOS for this device. Thank you.
- KimisChem3 · v4.63.0
Most of them are enjoyable, especially compared to reading the actual news. The US beginning to resemble Tsarist Russia, except a minority of the serfs are still literate.
- Also incognito · v6.30.0
The title says it all. Fix it or refund.
- My cat says wow · v6.4.0
Great games, I play every day.
- Berryheidi · v6.30.0
Would be a five star review, but I hate how wordplay is now embedded in the app. I liked switching back and forth between the column and the puzzle and now that’s impossible.
- cm1653 · v6.30.0
Loss of subscriber. Requiring a forced update for 2 new badges in wordle is the dumbest thing ever. Deleted & unsubscribed. Would choose 0/5 stars.
- titleistJM · v6.30.0
I agree with many others that the unavailability of the update is an issue on older iPads. I can’t believe your IT department hasn’t figured out a way around this. I’ve learned how to play then through web access but can’t see all my badges. Figure it our please.
- 2Bangerts · v6.4.0
1 star for forcing me to update
- Nahawk · v6.30.0
Love the assortment of games, but in recent weeks, I can no longer view competed crosswords. I’m immediately taken to the “Congrats!” page with no way to X it out and return to view the completed puzzle. Very frustrating.
- wsicjtidbduvt · v6.30.0
I now cannot do anything on the app without being smacked by advertisements. The games no longer work after I updated because they’re blocked behind a pop up telling me to pay money. I held off updating because they have only made the app worse/ more cheap every time I update.
- Ballbaggery.net · v6.30.0
I wish this app wouldn’t ask me to rate it every time I solve a puzzle. It’s fine, but the constant request to review is excessive.
- Edwin Zuniga · v6.30.0
Putting almost everything behind a paywall is so stupid. Why would I spend money to do a crossword?? Here soon i’m sure the wordle and connections will have to be paid for. I don’t care if it’s $1.50 a month or .50¢, it’s pathetic!
- KnzMcy104 · v6.30.0
Just deleted the app because it no longer lets you play without logging in. Really disappointing just another company mining for personal information. There’s absolutely zero reason why a login should be required for this app.
- Sparrow1984 · v6.30.0
Great games, lots of them. Something for everyone! NYTGames are a part of my every day ❤️
- Fab’s Mamacita · v6.30.0
Stop asking for a rating every time I finish the puzzle
- Xabbur · v6.29.1
Remove all the popups; leave me alone, I come to the app to play games (that my subscription paid for), not to have to click away things sliding in front of my face. The constant login animation for Game Center is annoying. I don’t care about Game Center, you should just remove that or have an option to never use it.
