Life between myths. Clans, cows, choices. The spiritual successor to King of Dragon Pass, Six Ages combines interactive stories and turn-based strategy. Your small clan’s survival depends on its relations with the warring gods and their followers. Play involves actions such as improving pastures, exploration, trading with your neighbors, and raiding. You can even travel to the Otherworld to visit your gods. You also need to deal with crises ranging from marauding dinosaurs to diplomatic requests to illicit love. Your choices have a politico-economic impact, but some consequences might not be obvious for decades. It’s set in Glorantha (the world of RuneQuest, HeroQuest, and 13th Age), where the laws of physics are subordinate to the whims of the gods and spirits. Six Ages is immensely replayable, thanks to over 400 interactive scenes with multiple outcomes. Short episodes and automatic saving mean you can play even when you only have a minute or two. The built-in saga writes down the story for you. And advisors with distinctive personalities help you track your cows. 148Apps: “… absolutely worth playing. … Six Ages uniquely weaves an astounding amount of of narrative, lore, and nonbinary decision-making into its gameplay that makes it feel truly unique and special.” Touch Arcade: “… if you want to get lost in a world full of meticulous details and gameplay that isn’t quite like anything else, you’ll want to hop on to Six Ages as soon as possible.” Pocket Tactics: “Six Ages holds a wealth of wonders few other games can match.” One of Rock Paper Shotgun’s top 100 PC games of all time: “All your choices create a curious and gnarled tree of a story … that is sometimes funny, and sometimes a little distressing.” Ben Silverman: “A heady mix of “Civilization” and a Choose Your Own Adventure game… Ridiculously deep and “just one more turn” addictive…” When you complete Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind, you can continue your clan’s saga in Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out. The game is completely accessible via VoiceOver.

Must play for fantasy lovers. The setting, Glorantha, has been lovingly and diligently built since the 60s.

Hey, I don’t think the creator reads these anymore, but I just want to iterate how much joy this series has brought me since I was a wee lad. Since I was a kid I loved these games, possibly king of dragon pass most of all. I’ve never seen something like these done before or since. Very creative and inspirational! Almost wish I could give back somehow. Suppose I’ll have to by creating something of myself someday. Thank you and your group for being creators and for your work.

This game probably is the better one then KODP but it is lacking a few charming features present in KODP. For example it was fun to distribute your acres between woodland, pasture and crop fields. Here all of that nuance is missing. Also the randomness in this game makes me so mad it can give me kidney stones. I liked the Iron Age Gauls/Anglos of KODP more then these Bronze Age Hungarians/Huns, although the Gods these guys worship are just as cool as Orlanth and gang. Finally the time scale in this game is very short. In KODP you could have played for a hundred+ years. Here it is less than 30 I have found. Years last longer in this game so you still play for a long time but maybe not as long as KODP. Still combat is much better, seasons are now split into early and late versions which makes it easier to keep track of how much time you have, that makes years last longer. Spirits are a very cool addition. The dialogue options are much more wide ranging which is good. The family system could have been better, unfortunately they don’t really effect the game beyond the events and bottlenecking your clan ring, making you have to choose one of each family, something that can thankfully be regularly ignored. I would like to have seen them presented as semi independent entities that you have to negotiate with. At least a single tab related to them would have been nice, which family has the most cattle, what family is related to which clan? So basically, good game.

I adore the lore! Once you surrender to the struggles of six ages, this trilogy begins to sing a song full of grace and authenticity. You get introduced to many gods whose names and stories evolve through the inhabited necessity of their existence for this world, by the peoples who strive within it. Each god is paradoxical since every culture views them from a separate lens. There’s plenty of paradox, come get some, bro. This is the sort of game which humbly demands that you see things from the perspective it provides, from your clans eyes. And all the while, the dualistic nature of the why becomes ever more complex.
- Hilgeffor · v1.0.16
Unique title that masterfully combines management, rpg, roguelike, chose-your-own-adventure, and strategy in an established heroic fantasy setting. Plays perfect on iOS. Has a phenomenal sequel (Six Ages 2) and an awesome spiritual predecessor that was already a classic back in the day (King of Dragon Pass).
- rado907 · v1.0.16
this game I would highly recommend to those who enjoyed King of dragons pass. It is the sequel to the previous game. I like this game a lot. The music is beautiful, and it works well with voiceover.

Great lore with deep mechanics/system. Sometimes I don’t know what I am doing but enjoy the consequences. Have both King of the Dragon Pass and this game and spent hours and hours of fun. Will buy the sequel on day one if they ever release one.

This game is unlike any other. Strategy and RPG in one - and a story to boot. Its also very replayable. Ive led (and destroyed…) dozens of civilizations. I also love that wifi and a network are not required to play - so it works during flights and on subways, etc. I only wish the sequel was coming!
- Frosty63479 · v1.0.14
First, let me say this is one of the best games that I’ve played. You basically play as a clan trying to survive in a fantasy world where your god has just been killed. The progress of your clan is extremely engaging and some of the events that pop up are really interesting (i.e., how do you handle having an ally clan that has accepted your religious revelation taking the position that non-believers are heretics and can be enslaved?). But there’s one huge and pretty glaring problem. This is an extremely short game and it breaks my heart because the game length is artificial. Basically, the clock starts ticking once a single event chain, which occurs very early, starts. After that event triggers, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing or what you want to explore, once the event chain ends so does your game. This is extremely frustrating especially in the context of King of Dragon Pass which would allow you to decide when to start a Tribe (and thus start the end game). I feel like the game would be significantly improved if there was a way to allow players to determine when the end game chain begins (maybe when you’ve completed a certain number of rituals) but as it is, there’s no way to do this and it doesn’t matter what other event chains you’re in the middle of (and will never see the ending of) or if you want to play longer.

- AveryLyf · v1.0.14
Structurally, this game is sort of a hybrid between a strategy game and an RPG. I find that it's helpful to think of it more like an RPG myself, where you play the clan, rather than an individual character. Your clan has a destiny, which will lead you to riches and glory if you are strong enough to hold onto it, or will leave you forgotten and destitute if you don't. Gameplay then, is about surviving and building your strength (especially in the strength of your leaders) long enough for your destiny to roll around, and in the face of inevitable hardships you'll find. The game does hide a lot of information from you: It's the sort of game that's much, much easier once you've beaten it once or twice already, which can be good or bad depending on what you like in the game. There's also a fairly significant random element. Even your best laid plans can fail, or your insane adventures succeed, if the dice gods favor or hate you that roll. Nonetheless, I've spent hours and hours enjoying this game, and I really do think it's great.
- Beezer the Turnip · v1.0.14
I found the lore way too confusing and long, it has a huge threshold to fully involve into the story. The game mechanics are unclear and very complex, not always clear on what to do to overcome a crisis. The randomized nature of the events and outcomes doesn’t make it clearer either. Despite their statement that there are many ways of playing the game, I found none (in this or previous game) where you could become an evil guy, siding with Chaos to twist your people, turn them to monsters to destroy all other clans.
- art926 · v1.0.14

- Delta_Red_Cammy · v1.0.14
I really like this game and the lore. I was wondering when would those other game storylines like lights going out and the world reborn would be coming out ?
- Dirtydan5 · v1.0.14
I gave this game a lot of chances and even read the manual several times. Been trying it off and on for a couple of years. Game would be fantastic if it had any way of measuring how well you’re doing whatsoever. I genuinely think that the developer wanted to hide the game mechanics. Because then we would understand just how poorly they were put together. The artwork is nice, the stories are nice, but it all really counts for nothing if the game itself is unplayable, which it absolutely is. I’ve had games where I completely random clicked on events and it didn’t even make me do any worse. The quality of the storytelling actually backfires when you invest yourself in the story but then realize that your decisions are not relevant. I’m not going to look up a guide online for how to play this game like 90% of the other players have done. That would defeat the purpose of playing the game. I suspect if online guides didn’t exist that this game would have a much lower rating. Although, after reading many of the five star reviews, it’s obvious that many of them are completely fake.

- David274981 · v1.0.11
I absolutely love Six Ages. I lose track of time way too much when I’m playing it. What I am wondering about / having an issue with is that the majority of my starting clan council in every game is always at least 60+ years old and all of them seem to have a 50/50 shot of dying of old age every year past the 60 year mark. I have the latest game update, so this clearly isn’t a bug... I’m curious if you guys have considered lowering the age of some of the starting council members at all? Because I have had one start in ten where I was able to play past my fifth year and even have the option of fielding a council with all seven families (setting aside that doing so keeps forcing me to keep almost all of my talent off of the council) I understand there is a lot of RNG involved in this, but at the same time, once the game gets going, you have generations of leaders who emerge slowly. My one issue with Six Ages would be that I feel like the starting council frequently does not reflect how a clan that has existed for thousands of years (having undergone massive changes and splits during that time naturally) should have, as the game has designed, seven families each with their own generations leadership. So, while there are deaths and illness of characters along the way, you would generally still expect to see someone from all seven families every 15-20 year period or so with the occasional gap for an individual death. I understand this would lead to more people to choose from, but at the moment my clan council options literally start as the walking dead. I guess I’m wondering if the game was intended to start this way or is this something you have ever considered changing? Because as it is, I generally have someone over the age of sixty die every year or two, although frequently I have two individuals die after the first year because of the huge number of 60+ individuals. As a result, it becomes really risky keeping them on the clan circle and allowing them to disrupt clan magic / requiring time to reorganize every time they need to be replaced. I would love to know the thinking behind this as I am sure with everything else in the game it was done for a reason. Six Ages is great and I look forward to Lights Out.

I didn’t expect such a high learning curve. Be forewarned. Devs gave me a website guide of sorts, but it’s very vague. The tutorial is only slightly more vague. Such a shame because I really want to get into this game, and perhaps one day I’ll redownload it and it’ll click. But right now, it definitely does not click. However, clearly a lot of love and effort went into this title and it really shows, in every detail, all of that text. Therefore I only take off one star. I don’t know what else the devs could do other than somehow come up with a way to lower the insane learning curve. Apparently this title is easier to learn than their first game though, and hopefully the next installment may be even easier and some day I can fully appreciate the game without dying because I have no idea what I’m doing.
- Dreaming of Wolves · v1.0.11
This is an exceptional title, and a worthy successor to King of Dragon Pass. Few games have surprised and delighted me in the way KoDP and Six Ages have done. Six Ages features lush, lively artwork, earthy music and unique gameplay; nothing else looks, sounds or plays like this. Many strategy games are numbers-heavy and can feel like playing a spreadsheet. By obfuscating many of the numbers, die rolls, etc Six Ages pulls players into the world in a much more human fashion. Choices feel more organic and less mechanical. I find this approach more conducive to meaningful storytelling, and I think it is likely to be the make-or-break element for most players.
- TheseAreTheDavesIKnow · v1.0.11
This game is amazing and one of my favorite. The story is enthralling and I love the combat system but the fact that I’ve been waiting for over a year for the new game modes to come out is disappointing. The last update was 3 months ago. Also the only way I can find to have a good ending is having the marriage to the Rams. I wish there were other roads to victory like total conquest or somehow able to survive to the end. The worst thing is that the “options” at the end if you don’t marry the Rams are all basically the same ending, your clan basically fades.
- Lonewold · v1.0.11
Gorgeous art, a fascinating world like no other, a wonderful story with great characters all wrapped up in a cool little city simulator. Six Ages is a great game, and there is almost nothing out there like it. You have city full of advisors with their own personalities and agendas and petty squabbles and you get to see them grow up and change and die and be replaced by younger folk who are changed by the choices the previous generation made. You can explore a genuinely strange and surprising fantasy world, full of detail and strange corners and never feeling cliche. There is a neat little sim game at the heart of it, with a tech tree in the form of magic, land management, multi generational projects, political alliances and battles - but with the catch that you don’t have a God’s eye view, and can only know things that your advisors know and the only hard numbers you see are things your advisors can count. All of this with some of the most gorgeous art I’ve ever seen in a game, a collection of paintings that make you feel like you’re playing inside a story book. If you come from King of Dragon Pass, know that Six Ages has a much gentler learning curve with less tedious management, but has added some new choices like year long projects and more interesting combat. My only complaint is that while the music is good, there maybe isn’t enough of it, feeling a little thin beside the sheer quantity of background art and variety of story paths. Can’t recommend enough.
- Erikharrison · v1.0.11
Just like KoDP Six Winds does an amazing job telescoping scales of storytelling, from interpersonal, tribal and kingdom levels. Had a silly issue with the game and the staff was very helpful and responded quickly.

- Appsomesauce · v1.0.11
My problem is that I’m tactilely inept, so frequently my fingers accidentally touch a choice I don’t intend to select, and there’s no undo or back button to get out of the screen that then comes up. I can understand not having an undo for a final result, but when it’s an intermediate choice like ‘How much do you sacrifice”… Update: Oh, cool, that does help, thank you.

I'm so glad I finally gave in and spent $10 on this game. I honestly wasn't sure how different it'd be from King of Dragon Pass, which is one of my favorite games. In short, it's a similar model, but set way before KODP. Things are darker, more mystical, and the stakes are even higher. Plus, the VoiceOver enhancements are great! I love the scene descriptions, new exploration system, and how you can now tell which blessings you have active, or what concerns your clan has. I haven't touched KODP since I got this, just because I've been so hooked.

The ability to continue the story in the next app is something I look forward to. I have multiple saves already to transfer. - Saerec · v1.0.8
One of the very best games on iOS. If you enjoy this one, also try King of Dragon Pass (KoDP) - its predecessor which I would argue is an even better game (primarily as this game operates on a scripted timer, whereas KoDP does not, so you have a lot more freedom in the previous one.)

Loved king of dragon pass. Bought it when it first came on the App Store and fell in love, originally disliking the idea of a text based game. Well, that texted based game enthralled me for around five or six years. Was very skeptical of a sequel as I understand King of Dragon pass was not very popular upon release but found success on iOS. Was concerned that Six Ages might just be an attempt to ride of the new momentum the series had found. This gams is truly unique balancing so many different features. Was skeptical of six ages just being a king of dragon pass clone. I am satisfied to say I was wrong. Similar? Yes. Copied? Not at all. A prequel to king of dragon pass this explores the clan system of the Riders, followers of Hyalor and Elmal (I could be mistaken I am still very new to six ages). A new hero quest system (now called rituals) a new venture feature which allows you to designate what you want the clan to focus on for the year, a more interactive war which allows you to send nobles out to forage and capture horses. Also able to interact with the two great rivers. There are far more great features (I’m not being sly, there are several major difference from KoDP apart from an entirely new setting). Basically, they took the winning formula from KoDP and expanded and differentiated it for a new society. For players returning to the series, and liked KoDP I would highly recommend Six Ages. For new comers, get ready for a learning curve, it’s not the kind of game you play and learn in a day, there a lot of failures in coming. A seasoned KoDP player myself, I just lost what I thought was going to be a successful campaign. That’s what this series is about, though. It’s not about being the biggest wealthiest strongest clan and dominating politics in the region. It’s about developing the story of a bronze aged clan of nomads settling in a brand new area with nowhere left to migrate to, in the most realistic way possible, with all the struggles and victories that comes with it. In my case, a cataclysmic event caused doom as I was still proud of what we had accomplished. Thank you to all that read this and I wish good luck in this new land, and raise a glass of kumis to your future.

I love playing this game, there is just one problem with it. I have the game on my iphone and my ipad and I like to play this game on both devices. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to sink my progress in the game between devices. I made significant progress in the game on my ipad but that progress did not show up on my iphone. There should be a way to sink my progress in the game over icloud so I can pick up where I left off in the game on any of my devices. Either that, or make it possible to create a six ages account so I can log in on any device.

I wish I never would have bought this game. It is so boring. I love games like Civilization and choice-based novels, but I just don’t see the strategy in this. A lot of the choices are limited and it doesn’t seem like anything you choose is right or produces anything of value. I feel very lost like the game is going on, but I’m just choosing random things without understanding why. There doesn’t seem to be a strategy. The tutorial wasn’t helpful. It would have been nice to play a demo before wasting cash on this game. Oh well, enjoy my money. Hopefully you can use it to come up with something more entertaining in the future.
- jumpling567 · v1.0.7
This is a spectacular, intricate, storytelling and civ-building game. I just finished the game, and am filled with that warm feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes with the ending of a great game. Both story and strategy blend in harmony, every victory feels earned, and your choices — often spanning generations — come to fruition. If you’re not familiar with King of Dragon Pass (this game’s spiritual predecessor) or the world of Glorantha, then be sure to allow yourself a couple opening tries and a read through the short manual. Everything is internally consistent, but understanding that the world is fundamentally different from even standard fantasy fare can mean a steep learning curve. Persevere, and don’t hesitate to start over; it’s worth it!

This game title appeared to me after reading a review for 2018 games of the year and seeing many good reviews online. I purchased the game and could not put my phone down at all. I absolutely love the different dynamics in this game. Controlling resources, diplomacy, reaching out to the gods for help (in different ways), performing raids, setting up a market, gathering food, were all elements that I supremely enjoyed. It felt like an immersive board game. I probably put in 20 hrs within the first two days of owning this game. My only critique is that with so much possibility within the game, there really is only one way to win. I found this disheartening after I had completed the game because I wanted to play through again and have a different mindset to achieve a different result.
- KRT15 · v1.0.7
It’s pretty similar to kodp, my only complaint is that it doesn’t seem like any progress is being made during the story, it’s just a bunch of random events for the most part, than all of a sudden a piece of sky falls from the sky and a couple of years later, all of the riders just get wiped out. It just made the game seem like a waste of time, if I wasn’t progressing enough through the story having a hint tell me that would of been helpful, but just having the players get wiped out just made it feel like I was getting trolled by the developers of the game, maybe if they had some kind of forum or something for players it would of been better.
- ThedudeEBB · v1.0.7
This game keeps getting a lot of love and attention. Six Ages is one that I keep coming back to. It’s beautiful to look at and its touch interface feels good. More than that it’s full of captivating stories and allegory. You notice eventually that the game is about people, community, and how peace is more profitable than war. It’s refreshing at a time when the real world desperately needs those things.
- Uberskooper · v1.0.7
This game likes to pretend it has deep lore and a great story to tell. It frankly doesn’t. It hides it’s lack of compelling story behind a steep difficulty of constant raids and poorly explained rules. This game should be rated XXX for how much it bends you over and screws you out of your money and your time.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind is the next generation of A#’s line of games that began with the incredible, ground-breaking King of Dragon Pass. Building on the combination of adventure and resource management, Ride Like the Wind takes us into the living myths of Glorantha’s Storm Age.
