Survive and rebuild civilization through countless generations
"You are Hope" is based on a PC game made by Jason Rohrer. This app is not from him though, and he is not at all involved in making it. Our game and online world are separate from his, and contain changes and exclusive extra contents which we have made ourselves. Your goal is to rebuild civilization from scratch, together with other players and across countless generations. You are born either as a baby to one of the other players, or as a young woman if no suitable mother is found. Every minute of real time is one year in the game and your maximum age is 60 years. A single life is limited, but the things you make during your lifetime are left for your children and grandchildren once you are gone. Try to make life a little bit easier for those who come after you, so your family line will have a chance to prosper for generations to come. Sometimes you will spawn alone in the wilderness. You need to build a fire to stay warm and trap rabbits to get meat and furs for clothes. A sharp stone may be your best friend in the beginning. Try to find a good spot to settle and grow some food, because other players may soon arrive as your children, and will need to be taken care of until they are grown enough to help you. Sometimes you will be born in a sprawling city, with farmers, cooks, blacksmiths, shepherds and hunters. There will be clothes and equipment ready for you, prepared by players who may be your grandparents or distant relatives. Maybe you will gather some friends and set out to start a settlement of your own, maybe you will inherit a farm job from your uncle, or maybe you will slay bears and wolves. The choices are endless, but remember: unless you leave the world better after you have lived than when you arrived, you have not really achieved anything. Every life you play will put you in contact with new players. Some are more experienced than you, some are less. Some will teach you and some will learn from you. Some may even be disruptive to the civilization you are building, and will need to be dealt with accordingly. It will be up to you and your fellow players to shape the world for a brief moment in time, before the following generations take over. After your game life is over, you can look at your family tree and see how your descendants are doing. You can take pride in each of your younger relatives who survives into adulthood and in each new generation that follows you, knowing that you helped make it happen. In the 1.7.0 release we added the Family Ties IAP, which adds observer mode and family chronicles. It is completely optional and is not required to play the game.

haven't played for awhile, I remember the controls were undesirable but the game was good, tried playing it 3 days in a row now and always get same message can't connect to server, so I paid for a game I can't play anymore let alone even launch the game... fix your servers or keep the 1 star review

Just look up 'One hour, One life' ....it's more expensive but better than this cheap knock-off version. Downloaded just to write this. idk if it's the same devs or what. But clearly, some kinda knock off of the original. I didn't pay a cent, play pass offered this bs for free :P Do yourself a favor and skip. The fact that a different name was written, too, but the exact same screenshots from the other version. the audacity lmfao how stupid do you think we are? even has the same sounds lmfao

game is dead at most you'll see a handful of players on any given server. Tutorial is a joke as well, can't expect people to enjoy your game when your Tutorial doesn't tell you anything but game gestures for movement, feeding, harvesting and planting with nothing else explained too you. You also can't refund your purchase because I played for maybe a minute before before I quite because the game is dead and was unable to refund my purchase.

Didn't work at all. After the first learning screen, I picked up my baby & that was the end of that. none of the controlls would respond to anything I tried. it was just stuck on that screen. not worth $$$

Not a super fan of this. Like, why do you need to get to specific trees to obtain certain type of branches, or leaves for tinder? Just based off the tutorial alone, you have to look for 3 different trees in order to obtain the essentials for fire making; straight branch, curved branch, and tinder. All 3 items can only be obtained from 3 very specific trees. This is beyond stupid. Couldn't continue on after this. Especially when it seemed like the materials are non-renewable. Berries don't regrow

it's a hard learning game but the content is fine ,also why the game need to buy when there are no community it's 30 person who were in the servers,i think if it's free and add some things you can buy in the game it will be better

The controls are finnicky, and the game is stupid hard. Not many players on any server. 10/10 if you wanna learn OHOL on mobile though. Losing is fun! :) Ily mom. If you get a server connection error, re-open app. Also, you can use an item called a Peace Lily to return to your town over and over, google it. Its literally the best game that I have ever played on Android once you can work on your base over many lives. It's quite a deep sandbox.

I bought this game with money a few days ago, but so far I've only gotten an error message along the lines of "Cannot connect to server. Try again later." Is there a fix to this? This has only been an issue with this game; all my other apps work I've restarted my phone, cleared the cache and data, and switched between wifi and mobile data. edit: this is still a problem

I couldn't even play the game. I just kept getting an error. I tried on several different days, but it still wouldn't let me play.

downloaded this game a few months ago, played it as normal it was working fine but now the server isn't allowing me into the game at all it keeps saying the servers under maintenance but everyone els is playing it as normal. now I payed the 2.99 for the completed version of this game but now im regretting it it wouldn't even let me cancel the purchase DONOT install there too wishy washy with there game. not worth it.

Loved it. First time I played I accidentally killed my mother and got banned.. Spending years to achieve those boring 6 hours and I'm nearly halfway there... This lack of rules or understanding, negligent staff of carelessness to this simply fixable issue could have led to this game having a player base. Maybe one day I will achieve those final 3 hours of "solo-ban" one day in some years I'll be able to play with the nearly dead player base... I got one game years ago and reported it a lot.....

it's so much fun! and addictive.. the only bummer is now they charge you for spectators mode.. which Blows!! but only because it never used to be like that.. once you have something and it's taken away and monetized that's never fun..

Saw a post a few months ago about not being able to connect but thought the issue was resolved. It wasn't. It keeps telling me that there's a failure to connect due to maintenance or failure to connect to Internet. Wasted money.

The game doesn't even start, the app throws me out. Edit: It got fixed and I can play now. I just passed the tutorial, the controls were a bit weird at first but I got used to them quickly.
